Live At The Murder Scene - Chapter 23
Qiong Cang held the key and entered Xiang Qingxi’s dormitory.
She pulled the chair that was in front of the table and sat, then roughly looked at the objects placed on the table.
She was here to find clues, but to her surprise, Xiang Qingxi’s dormitory was very “clean” leaving almost no information related to the plot.
The number of homework and workbooks left in the dormitory were very few, the handwriting was clear and the grades were stable. Everything was arranged neatly, even the daily essentials. The clothes in the wardrobe were all popular styles, with a faint fragrance of soap. The most common hair tie is stored in the drawer without expensive accessories.
All the details were in line with her personality as an impoverished character, making people unable to find a sense of out of ordinary.
Qiong Cang lifted her bag, sat back in front of the table and focused on eating her snacks.
With such a result, even she couldn’t help but doubt that Xiang Qingxi was just a pure NPC.
Qiong Cang took out her phone and looked at the time. Her inspection was just a very quick one, yet it was already three o’clock in the afternoon of game time.
The next clue in the dormitory building might not appear until the evening. Qiong Cang was hesitating whether to go to the classroom or not when a twisting sound suddenly came from the keyhole of the door. Then, a girl walked in from the outside.
When the other person saw her inside the room, her face showed a slight surprise which then quickly faded.
A few lines of character floated beside her.
“Xu Manyan, a student from Class 2, former classmate, underprivileged student.”
Qiong Cang licked the biscuit crumbs off her lips and nodded to her in greeting.
Xu Manyan asked: “Dongyan? Why are you here? I heard Xiao Xi say that you missed the class this morning?”
Qiong Cang slowly said: “I don’t want to go to class.”
“Is it because of Xu You?” Xu Manyan rolled her eyes and sneered, “If he is still acting up, I will find someone to help you teach him a lesson! It’s not over yet!”
Qiong Cang said, “No need. I just don’t want to go to class. What about you? Class is not over yet, right?”
Xu Manyan: “Physical education class, free activities.”
She took something out of the bag in her hand and put it on Xiang Qingxi’s table. Qiong Cang looked at it and asked, “What is this?”
“This month’s scholarship allowance. I helped her collect it on my way.” Xu Manyan looked at her suspiciously and asked, “Are you really all right?”
Qiong Cang: “I’m alright.”
Xu Manyan whispered, stepped forward and patted her on the shoulder, and comforted: “Be more understanding, it has nothing to do with you, don’t care about what they say.”
Qiong Cang raised her head, looked at her, and said, “What they said is also right.”
“What do you mean, right! I say you–” Her words seemed to poke Xu Manyan’s anger as her expression instantly became excited, but halfway through, she forcibly suppressed her emotion.
She pursed her lower lip, readjusted her emotions, and only said: “I’ll go first, the teacher will take a roll call later.”
Qiong Cang: “Alright.”
Xu Manyan walked to the door, looked back at her again, then closed the door and left.
Qiong Cang opened the bag and looked at its contents.
A red envelope.
Qiong Cang opened it and checked its contents. Inside was a thousand dollars cash.
A shopping card. By the looks of it, the card seemed to have 500 dollars in it.
A stack of canteen vouchers. As a rough estimate, it is between six hundred and seven hundred.
Two seasonal clothes. Both are from brands that sell out very quickly. Not very expensive, but the fabric is comfortable to touch.
Furthermore, there were a few books. It looks old, but it’s still intact, almost undamaged.
Qiong Cang picked up the phone, fiddled with it twice in her palm, turned on the screen, and sent a text message to He Jueyun.
Qiong Cang: “The allowance for underprivileged students of Yi Zhong is a lot.”
He Jueyun: How much is it? Financial aid is almost just enough to provide food and clothing, how could anyone get rich from it?
Qiong Cang reported the contents of the bag and sent it over.
He Jueyun was shocked after reading it.
The said amount was much higher than that of ordinary high school students.
He Jueyun: Is this for a whole semester? The scholarship allowance for high school students given by City A seems to be 1,500 per academic year.
Qiong Cang: The person who brought the bag said this was for a month. There are several similar bags behind the cabinets here in the dormitory, which should indeed be distributed on a monthly basis.
He Jueyun: How is it possible?
He Jueyun: The owner of the store said that Tian Yun would often go to him to buy products that were about to expire in order to save money. Sometimes she had to rely on Zhou Nansong to invite her to dinner. If her scholarship allowance also has so much, she doesn’t need to be like this at all.
Qiong Cang: So the scholarship allowance of Yi Zhong is divided into different levels. In addition, is there a very big difference in level? So what is the criterion for judging? Grades? Personal preferences?
He Jueyun didn’t reply for a while.
He Jueyun: I just answered a phone call.
He Jueyun: Because you mentioned before that Tian Yun and Xiang Qingxi are both underprivileged students, I specifically checked the relevant information after I came back.
Qiong Cang: Are there many underprivileged students in this school?
He Jueyun: Many. For the purpose of helping those in need, Yi Zhong especially recruited a lot of underprivileged students. The school has advertised many times, and the Education Bureau also used them as positive cases and gave them a lot of discounts. ???
He Jueyun: Yi Zhong is a good high school in City A, and it has cooperation with several universities. In the past two years, they have won a few more names for underprivileged students. Last year, and the year before, all underprivileged students were admitted to prestigious universities. It also attracted many donations from the community.
Qiong Cang: What about this school year? Should the number of recommended places come out at this time?
He Jueyun: I just contacted the person from the Education Bureau to ask, and I will tell you when the result comes out.
