I didn’t mean it that way! I mean it in the sense after transmigration why didn’t anyone question a thing? I mean, the current her should have a couple fails or something so it at least looks convincing. How does no one think a thing? If I was suddenly replaced with someone else & that person had completely new knowledge that I never had, you bet my family will wonder. They may not think invasion of the body snatchers but it would be odd & the would notice. I agree that nonstereotypical characters are quite nice, & I don’t want to read another story with the same plot, but you can’t unsee plot holes when you see them no?

The male lead did suspect early on but due to his situation he was probably afraid to say anything and now he is falling for her, so even if he does find out for sure then I think he would actually love her more and become fiercely protective of her. He would help her avoid being found out and he would probably be way more open with her.
The rest of the family suspected something but blew it off as her trying to take responsibility at first and then as she became a better person for the guy she likes.
Until they find out that she isn’t getting those vouchers from the other parties involved they seem to be unwilling to question outright.

Yeah u are right actually su Jiaojiao is a side character and Xi Yao is the younger sister of the female lead of the novel plot ( which i found out later) Actually Xi Yao is a very rich girl but idk how she came into the village at first and got adopted. So later her oldest sister will also come into the village to work (the oldest sister is actually the FL who actually fell in love with the ML which is Su Jiaojao’s husband in past life and also married him, but what i don’t understand is i never get a pov of the male lead about how he thinks of her now he is reborn and confronted her again). I mean when ML married FL in past life there actually must be feelings to right or some love? But there was no POV so i think probably Su Jiaojao’s husband married the Xi girl in his pastlife meant him nothing so the author didn’t write a pov of these two.

That was my first concern when ML just agreed to marry FL without resisting( He was thinking she would backout like his previous lifetime but even after she didn’t backout he didn’t resist). I haven’t read the raws and I don’t know if it was mentioned at which pont of time was ML reborn.

He was reborn in the early chapters. If I am not mistaken it probably was at the time he got injured that’s why when he came back he decided to build his house more better and isn’t really care if Su Jiaojiao would actually marry him again or leave in this new life. But what I am very concerned about it that the actual Female Protagonist who is Xi Yao’s elder sister , she ain’t that arrogant or a white lotus at all. I read the raw till the end and she seems like a very kind gentle girl so probably the male lead never had any love feelings towards her in his pastlife so he agreed btw she comes from a very rich family background to so probably either the marriage was maybe forced or he just gave up because his fiance ran off with another man and his mom and dad and brother hates him so he got so fed up with life he actually married the real Female Protagonist. Well that’s what I assume. But overall the book was good the only thing I am disappointed is the Pov of the ML of his pastlife what and how he thinks of his past marriage with the protagonist, it just feel like the author skipped a part of the book which makes me kind of disappointed. Cuz he is reborn so he has memories. Not that I dislike Su Jiaojiao no that not it but the ending feels like it’s rushed

No ML married the Xi girl in hi pastlife and it was written that that Xi girl dearly loved the Ml and was willing to give up her status and willing to marry a poor guy even when her dad didn’t agree. So that mea ML experienced hi pastlife till the end of the novel but also probably suffered and probably also had a grudge that his fiance Su Jiaojiao ran off with another man so I assume the ML somehow wasn’t to pleased with his pastlife and he got reborn again and he was willing to accept his fate but when he saw Su Jiaojiao changed he accepted her and move on and live happily with her.

From what I know,In the seventies China was still under the communist regime.
In other words, All “Capitalist” behaviors that are considered as doing business was heavily illegal, if caught can even lead to execution depending on the severity.
All factories, businesses and shops were state owned and run.
A person’s salary is given by the state and can be traded for specific coupons, as shops only accepted coupons.
So for example you want to buy a bicycle:
* if you work at the factory, you use money to buy a bicycle coupon then go to a shop in the city to trade it for a bicycle
* If you’re a farmer they your pay check is made out of a portion of the crops/cattle proportional to the amount of work you did, so if you want a bicycle, you have to take a portion of you pay (the crops) to exchange for money/coupon.

From what I understand from reading other novels like this people get salaries plus allocation of coupons for basic goods and the higher the status (managers, officers, etc), they get access to special coupons that are luxury items for like beauty products, appliances… People will change these luxury coupon stuff in the black market to get stuff they need and consignment shops will not sell you any product even if you have the money and are willing to pay more if you don’t have the coupons.
And yes, there are such things as speculation and capitalist behaviors the government will punish you on. Some people will buy stuff using their coupons and sell them at a higher price illegally. They could get executed for that.

I heard that in some rare cases some black markets were actually more just and beneficial to communities around them then the so called legal markets run by corrupt governments; that’s not to say that the black market is wholly good even in those rare cases as there would still be horrible things done there that would be more than the common person can deal with and it would still be dangerous just to go.
This chapter is probably depicting just that, the obvious benefits that we have learned about so far and the fact that multiple good people in the story are making use of it reconfirm this theory, as well as the level of caution each individual uses it also reminds that there is still some sort of danger to using the black market that they need to be aware of.

I personally feel Jiaojiao did take a bit of advantage, what with going often because she didnt want to cook or work, but it was depending on her parents, not Qian, so it wasnt her place to complain. She was free to dislike her being that way and so pampered (many would as well).
I also felt a bit for her when her in-laws said they couldnt let Jiaojiao suffer in the fields and get sunburnt, but it was fine for the daughters-in-law to do so. Then again, parents commonly like their children more than in-laws, nothing new there. She herself is not different, only looking out for her husband and kids while siblings are outsiders.
Qian’s biggest problem is her self-centeredness. She didn’t have a balanced perception because she took for granted what she got while begrudging what she did not get. She didn’t really feel concerned about fairness and family unity, she just wasnt satisfied with her share, which was already more than what she could earn by herself.

As far as I’m concerned, the punishments will always hurt you more than they hurt me. You’ll learn at some point that when you’ve done something wrong there will be a punishment. If this punishment doesn’t work, then we’ll try another, then another, but you WILL be punished. What’s the point in doing the same thing over and over knowing that it never works.

Why bother wasting your brain cells over this when you could think about ways to better your life? I understand that these times were really bad and people had no education, thus they had no luxury of a wider view and understanding of the market and such, but they could still simply focus on the tasks at hand and trying to enjoy their time. I really don’t see how the FL had any agoraphobia or anything of the sort. Maybe she simply didn’t find people she liked to interact with before. Why are people still discussing whether ML was adopted or not? It was already said in the first chapter that he’s the biological son of mother Song. As for the father, I can’t be too sure. Since she only said that she would have aborted him if she knew she would have another child later on.
As for why she was unsure whether she could still have another child, I assume it was because of her age as it was mentioned that she had the ML when she was already married for a few good years (or was it said that she was old?). So I guess it makes sense she’d be worried about that.
As for her mentioning she would have had an abortion, I assume it’s because either the father of the child wasn’t father Song, or the pregnancy arrived at a bad time?

1 – yup, the feet and/or the ankles are very sensitive spots. Tbh I think most joints are very sensitive spots. I haven’t looked into it to see if there’s an intersection of nerves (plexus) there which could explain the sensitivity. Or it could be something else.
For 3, just think about how relaxing it is when you get a back massage and how you feel like – let’s call it ‘sighing’ – all the tiredness out of your body. The FL had to bite her lips so she didn’t make that sound, which would be super ero in this scenario.

In my meagre knowledge, it was actually quite late to have a child at 20 on the 70s. They women got married at 17-18. Some villages even went as early as 16. There was no knowledge of contraception nor any available until the 80s (if my memory serves me right). Thus they’d obviously have children as soon as they got married.
Because they lived off the earth, they had nothing to do during late autumn and the winter months. There was no entertainment either. Thus couples ended up spending most of their times in bed.

I like other people’s children. But I don’t have the confidence to have one of my own. It’s terrifying when thinking how every little tiny thing could influence their personality. I worry I’d be a bad mother who either spoils her child or is too hard on them. So it’s better to just spend a little time with other’s children, then let them worry about these things themselves.
There’s also the problem with how dependent they are on others for the first three years. I’m mostly bed bound myself so I couldn’t possibly care for another being. Even if my parents insist they’d take care of them, would that still be my child or theirs?

Well.. I guess I can live during 70s in China since my life when I was young was kinda like that but much better ?. I mean being a 90s kid with no proper CR ?. Our CR that time was like a community one in which all of my relatives from great grandpa’s bracket used it (if it was occupied ? , we deposited in nature. Nope , if the couple are married specially in countryside in China during 70s.. mid 20s is already late ?. Most of them ,got married at the age of 17 to 20. After a year of being married, if there are no probs in sex life and reproduction..they will have a baby. Most of the novels and movies I read and watch (about China and those times) ..early marriage and early motherhood is normal. Teenage pregnancy is okay at that time , as long as they live in countryside. But after the 1 child policy (that was 1977 or 1974??).. pregnancy is controlled in China..but some city people still gives birth to other places to find loopholes from the policy or rich 3nough to afford paying the child price. I’ve read before that , when the eldest is a girl , they are quite forgiving to the parents who got a 2nd child to have a son. Modern China welcomes baby girls but still..some still wants to have sons than daughters..which is quite ugly for me. Thankfully, our country doesn’t practice those..rather as long as the child is healthy, no matter what gender..the parents loves them.

Ok, I think I can see how the abortion comment from mother Song makes sense. Her first son had a heart defect, but she was afraid she couldn’t have a second son, so she didn’t abort him.
