1-16 Mari-nee and GM Call Case

I checked the announcement of the official event and immediately logged into MWO.

It’s been about ten hours in the real world, so it’s probably been two days here.

Checking the time, it’s 10 AM.

Estelle-san and the children must be out, as the church is empty.

Exiting the room and entering the church hall, something seems different… Oh, the holes in the floor and cracks in the walls that were there before are gone.

Not perfectly, but at least it seems the children won’t accidentally step into gaps or feel the cold draft anymore.

The customers who participated with Vanessa-san’s when we roasted boar seem to have repaired it as promised.

If more people like this help, Estelle-san might have a bit of an easier time.

For that, I need to do my best as an older sister.

“First, I need to do something about what I obtained yesterday.”

Yesterday, I returned from the forest to the town, went straight to the church, and logged out immediately, so I haven’t properly checked my items.

Forest Deer in a captured state has also accumulated, and I haven’t picked up the dismantled items from the Black Wolf yet.

So, I decided to stop by the Adventurer’s Guild, but Allen-san, who usually welcomes me at the counter, had dark circles under his eyes.

“Hello, Allen-san. You seem tired. What happened?”

“Whose fault do you think it is, and hello! Maria-chan!”

Allen-san’s greetings are a bit off again.

I think it happened before, maybe related to Estelle-san.

“It was really tough. Because Maria-chan brought in too many Black Wolf materials, it started affecting other dismantling requests. So, I had to help with dismantling, and it was after regular hours!”

After regular hours, huh? I wonder if he got overtime pay properly.

I never thought they implemented the Black Company bits in this game, how pitiful.

But, since it was a job offered by Allen-san with compensation as a condition, I think my complaints should be directed elsewhere, maybe to the boss or the Adventurer’s Guild system.

If it’s too much, I could have left some items undismantled and stored in the item box.

“But I’m finally free. I’m going to go home and sleep until I’m sore.”

If I say it like Maki, is it going to trigger a flag? (Her lil sis who used to be a hikikomori)

The first thing he said might have influenced me, so I tossed the sympathy for Allen-san into the trash bag in my heart.

In the dismantling room, I received various things from the Black Wolf, excluding the offset dismantling cost, and took out the materials.

The emotion drained from Allen-san’s face, which had relaxed, as he looked at the pile of Forest Deer still in a captured state.

“The dismantling cost depends like usual. Well then, please take care of it.”

Adding a little kindness and saying I’m not in a hurry, but whether it reached his ears is questionable.

I quietly left the now-silent dismantling room.

What I obtained from dismantling the Black Wolf is a large amount of fur, meat, claws, a few magic stones, and some.

I don’t need the claws, so I sold them to the Adventurer’s Guild, and since the fur feels like it could be used as bedding, I decided not to sell it.

Thanks to Roulette-san, I got 10,000 G, and after buying ingredients and potions, I had about 7,000 G left.

With the income from dismantling Forest Deer a few days later, I should be quite relieved.

On my way back to the church, I bought vegetables, flour, butter, and milk.

I’m going to make a stewed hamburger using the abundant Black Wolf meat.

Estelle-san and the children just returned, so I asked them for help.

Although Black Wolf meat seems chewy, once it’s processed, I don’t think it’ll be noticeable.

Normally, grinding such meat would be tough, but with my Thread Manipulation skill and stats, it’s no problem.

With my skill level now allowing me to manipulate up to four threads simultaneously, I used four knives to instantly turn the Black Wolf meat into ground meat.

During that time, Estelle-san grated garlic and carrots, and the children peeled onions.

After I finished chopping the peeled onions into fine pieces until they turned a caramel color when sautéed, I added grated garlic and carrots, and then salt to the ground meat, along with crushed dried bread.

During all this, Estelle-san and the children did their best to knead.

In the meantime, I melted butter in a large pot, added flour when the butter melted, and sautéed it to avoid burning.

At first, it was powdery, but as it absorbed the oil from the butter, it gradually solidified and formed into lumps.

After sautéing for a while in that state, I gradually added milk to stretch the mixture.

With each addition of milk, the lumps liquefied, and when it reached the right consistency, I sprinkled salt to complete the white sauce.

Then, I started placing the molded hamburgers, baked in a frying pan, one after another into the sauce.

With careful simmering, it was done on this end.

Although I wasn’t worried because I had been adjusting the taste while cooking, I think it turned out well.

“This is the first time I’ve seen this dish, but it smells delicious.”

Estelle-san said with a dreamy expression, and once again, drool hung from the children’s mouths.

Isn’t it too early for rice, guys?

I left two-thirds of the large batch of stewed hamburgers for Estelle-san and the children, and put the rest in a wooden shallow dish I had prepared earlier, storing it in the item box.

With this, I won’t have to worry about meals outside the town for a while.

Portable food lacks flavor, after all.

As I was cleaning up the kitchen, I received a personal message from Roulette-san.

“Hello Maria-san.”

“Hello, Roulette-san.”

“I actually wanted to consult with you about that skill. Do you have some time now?”

“That’s fine. I just finished cooking.”

“That’s good. I also have something to discuss about the official event. Can you wait in front of the Adventurer’s Guild?”

“Understood. I’ll head there now.”

“Thank you.”

Come to think of it, I left the handling of the [Capture] skill to Roulette-san.

I completely forgot until she mentioned it.

Saying goodbye to Estelle-san and the children, I headed to the Adventurer’s Guild.

I didn’t think I was in a hurry, but Roulette-san wasn’t there yet. While squatting outside the entrance and playing with Nero, feeling a presence above me, I looked up.

Is it Roulette-san? When I raised my head, there was a male adventurer I didn’t know.

“You’re small and cute! Are you a beginner? Just started MWO?”

Suddenly, he spoke to me familiarly, and while I was thinking about how to respond, he seemed to have the intention of hearing my answer and started talking energetically.

“You seem to be a rear guard, right? Leveling up in this game alone is tough. I have firepower as a second job, so I can teach you various things. I’m planning to go hunting later, so let’s go together!”

“Um, I’m waiting for someone, so I’m okay.”

Although I somehow managed to say that, there was no sign of him stopping.

“Don’t say that. Hey, why not come to my place later after you’re done waiting? That way, it won’t be a waste of time for you. Isn’t that a good idea? Let’s do that!”

Oh no, this is bad.

This type is like the customers I occasionally encounter in my part-time job, who interpret things conveniently without listening and engage in self-conclusion.

People like this are basically impossible to communicate with.

What should I do in this situation in the game world?

As I instinctively stepped back, Nero intervened, bristling his fur and intimidating.

“What’s with this cat? I’m going to play with this kid, so don’t get in the way!”

Even though he seemed about to kick, Nero continued to stand firm, and I instinctively hugged and shielded him.

I braced myself for the impact… Wait, there’s no pain or impact?

He did kick, for sure.

But just before it hit me, the foot, gracefully extended, had been stopped in midair, as if pressed down by an invisible force.

“Oh my, is this a vulgar pickup in the middle of the street?”

The owner of the slender leg turned out to be Lurette.

“Roulette-san!”

“I’m sorry I was late; everything’s okay now.”

As Roulette-san pressed her foot down with her words, even though she didn’t seem to exert much force, the man lost and fell backward.

“What the hell are you!”

“Yes, yes, let’s close that dirty mouth of yours.”

“Gubhhaa!”

Roulette-san kicked the man’s head like a soccer ball.

With tremendous force, his entire body flew, hit the wall, and slid down.

If this were real life, wouldn’t the wall be completely splattered in red…?

“To make my friend feel uncomfortable, it’s worth a thousand deaths.”

Her voice was usually calm, but what she unleashed was a series of kicks targeting the man’s vital points.

Oh, the adventurers who had been gossiping were now turning blue in the face.

In the end, was it a GM call? The man on the verge of death disappeared from the spot in an instant, courtesy of Roulette-san.

I’ll have to ask for the details later.

“Thank you, Roulette-san. Thanks for helping.”

“No problem. It was my fault for being late. I’m actually sorry.”

“Even so. Thank you too, Nero.”

Nero responded with a head bump, as usual.

Smiling at the sight, Roulette-san extended her hand.

“It’s not a suitable place here. Let me guide you to a quieter place.”

Roulette-san’s hand felt cool, and it was comforting for me, who had been nervous.

A little later, as I became aware of the fear of people, my knees shook. However, Roulette-san didn’t say anything and just held me, carrying me to the destination.

Her way of holding me was similar to Masato, and by the time we arrived at our destination, the trembling had completely subsided.
