My Daughter Grew Up to “Rank S” Adventurer - Chapter 57.1
Chapter 57 Smack their back with the Palm of your Hand [Part 1]
Smacking his back with the palm of his hand, Byaku opened his eyes, and Belgrief called out to him.
“Are you getting the hang of it?”
“…A bit”
Byaku stood up. He took a deep breath and looked at the palms of his hands. He clenched and opened them, trying to get a feel for his fingers.
It had been almost half a month since Belgrief had arrived in Orphen.
It was getting colder by the day, and if he was in Tornella, it would have been snowing already.
Belgrief thought that if Percival and the others were still active, there would be some rumors and information that would surely be floating around, so every day Belgrief went out to the guild to find out more about the adventurers and traced their footsteps through the documents of past requests.
He also walked along the streets of the town, talking to tavern owners, adventurer’s tools store owners, and even to vendors. But so far so good, He couldn’t get any good information, though it couldn’t be helped since it had been more than ten years since he had left Orphen.
In between times, he accepted mock battle requests from adventurers and braggarts who had heard rumors of the Red Demon. Belgrief himself was not averse to fighting with others, and he was happy to see his fighting moves gradually refined as he crossed swords with opponents of various tactics.
Originally, Belgrief’s prowess with the sword was solely for protection.
Belgrief chuckled at the irony that the sword fighting skills he had been forced to develop after losing his right leg had suited him much better in return.
However, it is still a self-taught sword fighting mastery.
His initial trial and error had been fruitless, and his mastery stagnant and plateaued, but with Graham’s guidance, he was able to take it to the next level.
‘When that happens, even my former defensive sword style seems to have a lot of useless movements.’ He felt a strange sense of wonder at the various directions his fate had taken him as he refined his sword.
The practice of circulating magic power through breathing techniques is naturally effective for wizards as well.
After learning that Byaku had the Demon King in his body and depended on it for most of his magic power, Belgrief made time every day to teach Byaku how to use breathing to circulate magic power.
This way, Byaku’s own magic power, which did not belong to the Demon Lord, could be used more efficiently, and he would not have to force himself to limit his magic.
Belgrief patted Byaku on the head.
“I’m sure you’re much better at handling magic than I am. Once you get a feel for it, you’ll get it in no time.”
“…Don’t pat me every time.”
Byaku said with a scowl, but he didn’t try to brush it off with his hand.
This was Angeline’s room. After half a month of living here, she’s gotten used to it, and there’s a lot of stuff in the food cupboard.
He even bought a simple bed since Byaku was complaining about it.
Now Belgrief and Charlotte sleep in the wide bed and Byaku sleeps in the small one.
It’s hard to be old, Belgrief thought.
At the same time, he liked Byaku, who was rebelling against Belgrief with such human emotions. Belgrief’s cloak was a little too tight for him.
Belgrief put on his cloak and wrapped the scarf Charlotte had given him around himself.
“Well, let’s go to the guild.”
