Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 159.3
was named after a dragon, but it was not an actual dragon.
It looked like a two-meter tall scaled chicken, a snake demon like the basilisk.
It was ferocious, fast on its feet, spitting a poisonous mist, and capable of repelling arrows, but its danger level was Rank 3, so warriors of the same rank would have no difficulty dealing with it as long as they could control its poison.
But that was only if there was only one of them.
“Five of them are coming!”
“Roger that. I’ll make the first move.”
The most troublesome part of the Scaly Dragon was their strange tendency. They were not intelligent, so instead of running away, they might charge out of control.
I pointed my fingertip at the approaching Scaly Dragon, concentrating my mind on the dust cloud.
“–[Confusion]–“
Level 4 Dark Magic [Confusion].
I seldom use this because it hardly works on intelligent creatures. In particular, it was almost ineffective against opponents of the same rank or higher as the user.
However, if the opponent was a lower rank and seemed like they feared “something”, I could use it.
The first Scaly Dragon that was hit by the attack stiffened. Two other dragons run past it, but at that moment…
“Haaaa!”
Camille, with two magic swords drawn, attacked from overhead, spinning fluidly and slashing at the necks of the two Scaly Dragon in the blink of an eye.
It would be difficult for me to cut through such hard scales so easily. However, I, who had experienced fighting with an adventuring party, the Rainbow Sword, could leave it to the vanguard if there was one.
My magic was also taking effect, and the Confused individuals were attacking the remaining two.
“Let’s retreat, Aria.”
“Roger.”
Still, we chose to retreat immediately. Several more Scaly Dragon appeared from behind the one that had started fighting each other, and began to attack and devour the one that had been fighting with its own kind.
Something was obviously wrong. They had completely lost their minds.
Perhaps there was “something” that compelled them to do so.
“I’m going to stop by the guild. They might have some information.”
“Okay, I’ll go back to Ron and the others. Be careful.”
Since that was the case at the edge of the ruins where we were, something could be going on in the center.
When Camille and I reached a sufficient distance, we split up. I didn’t hear his answer earlier, but right now, we had too little information to decide, including the matter of the Scaly Dragons.
For now, I figured that if I could get Camille to return, protection would not be a problem, so I allocated more of my physical reinforcement to speed and sprinted across the desert wasteland at more than twice the speed of a normal person.
What would have taken a normal adventurer two hours to cover the ground took me only one hour.
When the beastmen adventurers saw me near the town, they were startled and tried to draw their swords, but I was out of their sight before their blades were drawn from their sheaths.
Several adventurers near the entrance looked back at me with startled faces as I leapt over the roof at the same speed and dashed into the adventurers’ guild at an unusual speed.
But there was no further commotion. Inside the guild, there was even more commotion.
“Rose!”
A yell was heard from the back of the guild, and a small, sideways, massive mass of muscle leapt out, physically pushing open the crowd.
“Jesha?”
“Just in time. How many advanced Potion’s have you made? I want some.”
“There was something strange about the demons at the ruins. What happened?”
“I’ll tell you about it in the back.”
We were escorted through the flurry of activity in the guild to a conference room at the back of the building, where the staff was huddled. Apparently, something had really happened in the few days I had been away from town.
When I took out the dozen or so advanced Potion that had been ready if this was the state of affairs, Jesha saw it, received the Potion, and started talking about the rest of what had just happened.
“The demons in the ruins have been confirmed here as well. It’s not finalized yet, but it’s a stampede of demons.”
A stampede of demons. It was a phenomenon that occurs once every few decades in areas and dungeons where demons were abundant, and numerous demons were generated.
My parents were caught up in it and died. Remembering this, I frown slightly.
But even if a stampede of demons did occur, there should be some cause for it. It was a phenomenon caused by an increase in the number of demons, but demons did not usually go out of control just because of that.
Jesha cut off her words, exhaled, and continued after her as if to exhale.
“Deep within the ruins, the Earth Dragon started to move.”
