“I knew things would end up in a bad way…”
During the next day after assisting in the repair of the buildings in Maunpir Village, Pumpkin was at the site where the Entragon was blasted by [Resonance Spell・Atomic Pumpkin].
When watching the zone from above, it was obvious that the trees close to the explosion site had been uprooted and destroyed. Even animals and shepherd’s purse[i] were unable to grow properly due to the density of the magic power, and a massive crater with an unbelievable depth had developed in the center of the explosion.
It was as if a meteorite or something had crashed into it.
“I should descend and investigate for now.”
Lowering the altitude, Pumpkin landed at the bottom of the crater and proceeded to observe the surroundings and ascertain what was happening with the density of magic power in the air.
The magic in the air seemed to be like mist when he was conscious of it, and while some of the magic in the air was from Entdragon, the majority was his own magic, so there was no reason to fear getting Magic Intoxication.
Yet, from what he could see from above, there was barely any life other than his own in the crater, nor could he find anything that used to constitute Entdragon’s body, as if it had been obliterated without leaving any residue behind.
It was unfortunate that all of Entdragon’s horns and claws—or rather, the entire dragon—were wiped out considering they could have served as various materials.
Pumpkin would want to prevent this the next time by using an arbitrary range attack like [Resonance Spell・Cucumber Blade].
Pumpkin now turned his head to stare in that direction as something started moving from his backside.
But there was nothing to be found there.
Ah, no, perhaps there are plant sprouts.
Am I experiencing… optical illusion?
He felt the bud of a plant moving just now. Or rather, it seemed to have grown all of a sudden.
Huh? I believe there was initially only one sprout, but now there are two sprouts?
No, no, no, that’s ludicrous. Even bamboo shoots after the rain would come out a little more slowly…
The second he laid his eyes on a number of sprouts emerging from the ground inside the crater, it made Pumpkin soared to the sky in surprise.
The situation progressed before he even had a chance to grasp what was unfolding in front of him as he witnessed the sight above the crater.
The crater’s surface began to grow sprouts from all directions as the first change.
Later, the sprouts grew up in a flash, producing many leaves and vines.
Each vine then produced a yellow flower at its tip, transforming the entire crater into a field of yellow flowers subsequently.
“The density of the magic power is… going down?”
By the time the profusion of yellow flowers had bloomed, the density of magic power in the crater had visibly diminished, and in its place, the plants that had grown throughout the crater had begun to bear fruit that contained a vast quantity of magic power.
“Oh I get it… so this is what this is about.”
The fruit that eventually formed was a very familiar one to Pumpkin. Or rather, it was a pumpkin in the same shape as his own head. It was likely that there was only one pumpkin per vine.
At this moment, it was apparent why this was taking place to him.
He was only speculating, but this was probably what happened.
First, the seeds were scattered around him from the part of his body that was turned into a bomb when he blew up the Entdragon with [Resonance Spell・Atomic Pumpkin].
The heavy rain that had been falling on the soil’s nutrients caused the dispersed seeds to sprout, and as soon as they did, they grew rapidly by absorbing the magic power in the air this time.
Furthermore, the pumpkins that have sprouted here and now may be considered his offspring, and they will likely have a similar hue to him in terms of magic power. In light of this, it would not matter in the slightest if they absorbed all of the magic power that was as thick as mist.
“My seeds would mean that if…”
“Oh, I was right…”
Pumpkin wasn’t positive if his murmuring had triggered it, but three holes suddenly formed in the fruit portion, and they seemed to tremble, but then they jumped up and down energetically and raised their voices after gathering all the vines in an instant.
Their appearance was what he would have called a small version of himself.
When the baby pumpkins spotted one other’s faces, they exchanged glances and laughed before starting to dance, take a gander around, or converse with each other for some reason.
Oh, right. At any rate, it would be a poor idea to leave these guys like this.
Pumpkin shouted aloud to bring everyone in the crater’s attention to him so that they wouldn’t go off on their own.
When he took another look at them, he realized that while they had similarities with him in terms of the pumpkin heads and magic colors, there were also some minor variances.
Concretely speaking, unlike Pumpkin, their bodies were not entwined in vines of their own free will, but they appeared to be taking on a human shape on their own, and their joint techniques appeared to function well.
Also, they didn’t seem to be able to fly like he could. Even if they can leap, they always fall on the ground, which suggested that they might not be able to fly.
Incidentally, their height was about 1 meter, and they were three heads tall. This again distinguished them from himself. When Pumpkin imitated a humanoid shape, he was at least 170 cm tall and at least seven heads tall.
“Everyone gather over here!”
With that, having drawn them all into the center of the crater, Pumpkin began to check out what kind of existence they really were.
[i] Those who are unaware of it, shepherd’s purse is the name of a plant
