“This is incredible…”
The spectacle unfolding before his eyes caused Pumpkin to inadvertently murmur to himself.
“Oh, the wind is so strong. But this is certainly…”
He took another glance around as the front wind picked up.
It was a place with no other designation than to call it a precipitous cliff, but the terrain there was evidently not the right one in terms of the land and other features that existed there.
Beyond the mountain range that rose to the north of Kunukihappy, the Kunuki territory’s capital, Ryoko had once informed Pumpkin of this location’s existence. And it was a site that left traces of destruction incongruous even if it was done with the power of the God of Destruction.
Pumpkin had come here on his own to ward against the treacherous mountain and the savage magical beasts three years after the establishment of Samsara Egg Village since the internal affairs of the village had stabilized.
Incidentally, the current season was autumn. It was a season of various delicacies, both food-wise and catalyst-wise.
“For now, I’m going to take a break and do some contemplation and nutritional replenishment.”
After landing on the ground, Pumpkin began to ponder while sipping blood from the Bloody Wolf, a wolf that used to inhabit this mountain.
First of all, here was a description of what this place was like, with as minimal subjectivity as possible.
1. It was called a precipitous cliff, but it was like this right after crossing the mountain.
2. The bottom of the cliff was roughly 1,000 meters or more, and the ocean was at the bottom.
3. This cliff seemed to be spreading out like a U-shaped cliff that gouged out the ground.
4. The width of the cliff was as wide as the unit of kilometers.
“Yeah. Just looking at the shape of the terrain, it could be considered natural but…”
However, to be honest, Pumpkin himself did not think that this terrain was created by nature.
After all, in spite of being referred to as a precipitous cliff, there was essentially little surface unevenness, save for what looked to have been brought on by exposure to the elements, and this could not possibly be a naturally present cliff.
But if this was created by some sort of force…
“That’s not entirely impossible, is it…”
He recalled the power of [Resonance Spell?Atomic Pumpkin] which he used in the past.
The power of this spell was also far superior to any other resonance spell he had used, but the fact that a single shot could only create a crater of about one kilometer in diameter and depth at best made the improbability of this phenomenon all the more striking.
An individual’s magic power was not sufficient to create this degree of a phenomenon. Furthermore, supposed the existence capable of causing this level of phenomena was concealing their magic power, it must mean that they have honed their magic manipulation skills to a considerable degree of proficiency in that case.
To put it another way, if I have to combat the individual who caused this phenomenon, I must thoroughly prepare beforehand and unilaterally set up and kill him or her.
“Yeah. I don’t have enough information as to how this happened… I wonder if anyone out there knows what’s going on.”
Even though he was aware that nobody was present, he couldn’t help but laugh at his lack of information.
Well, no one responded of course.
“Even so, coming to a high altitude like this, I realize how small the area I’ve been working in is.”
Pumpkin turned his back to the cliff and looked towards Kunukihappy.
What came into view were cities of all sizes, as well as forests, plains, rivers, and other nature.
Lean Forest was also visible faintly beyond the horizon, but it was an undeveloped area and its size was very vast compared to other forests.
However, until now, Pumpkin’s sphere of activity has been limited to a small part of Lean Forest as well as a few towns and villages in Kunuki territory.
Although the mountains blocked the view from this location, he had heard that Senkonoto, the capital of Senko, lay far to the west from here, so in the event of a leisurely sightseeing trip, it would be a great place to visit after a few more years when he can leave everything in Samsara Egg Village to the Spalpkins
“Hmm?”
And because it was time to spend the day, he was getting ready for encampment with the idea of sleeping here. However, out of the corner of his eye, Pumpkin noticed several figures—or more accurately, a yellow mass of magic power.
Yeah. Perhaps they are spirits.
Maybe I should try to make a little contact with them.
“Hyulololooo, excuse me, you spirits.”
“It’s a pumpkin.”
“A flying pumpkin.”
“A pumpkin can fly?”
And that was what they said as he flew over and made contact with them.
No, ordinary pumpkins and Spalpkins don’t fly, Spirits-san.
Well, I won’t bother to correct you or anything, since this is not related to the main point of my conversation.
The three spirits, two boy-like and one girl-like, all had bodies comprised of clean yellow magic, and despite the difference in gender, their appearance was very similar.
“May I ask you to answer my question?”
“Hmm, is it okay?”
“Well, it seems that you are related to Lean-sama and the water spirit…”
“Hmm, isn’t that okay then?”
Not to mention, even their personalities seemed to be similar.
I mean, as expected of a spirit after all. From the residue of magic power that is floating around my body, they could notice matters related to Lean-sama and Mizuki.
“So what are you asking?”
“What do you want to ask?”
“What would you like to know?”
“Well…”
You know, it’s awfully hard to listen to a trio of spirits talking. I don’t know who to pay attention to.
Well, as a recipient of information, I guess I’ll give up on that aspect.
“Please tell me how this place ended up like this.”
Pumpkin then posed a question to the three spirits.
