Third Outer World Story Series: Pumpkin Sorcerer - Chapter 80

With his fist tightened, Monokio charged towards Pumpkin and struck with his right hand.
The force of Monokio’s fist was too much for Pumpkin to bear, and he was thrown back despite shielding it with his magically augmented vine arm. Monokio’s fist was packed with more magic power than it seemed.
“I will turn you into a roasted pumpkin… tsk!”
In an apparent attempt to strike Pumpkin, who had been blasted back, Karamuji abruptly created a crimson spear and hurled it his way. However, Pumpkin deflected the spear’s trajectory by launching [Gust Blow] at the spear’s tip, saving it from reaching him.
He focused on the spear of Karamuji. There was a crimson powder-like substance and a slight heat emanating from the spear’s edge, giving it the appearance that it had been created with magic of some sort.
“I see an opening, squeak!”
“What a troublesome bunch! Damn!!”
Dozens of Toririsu, all of the same lineage, were pouncing on Karamuji with their front teeth loaded with a ton of magic power as Pumpkin observed Karamuji’s spear.
Pumpkin dodged their assault by flying up to the dome’s ceiling, where he would be out of the range of their strikes. He reckoned that being bitten by this many Toririsu would be too much to handle.
“I see. There may be individual differences, but they are all trump cards, and their abilities are considerable.”
“Tsk, he’s not dead yet.”
“He can fly, huh? What a cheat.”
“Squeak, squeak, squeak. But it’s only a matter of time, squeak.”
Pumpkin regarded the three individuals below from the dome’s ceiling.
Monokio was the close-range type who assaulted directly with body-enhancement magic based on his moves so far. Karamuji was a mid-range type who employed heat-cloaked weaponry. Toririsu used alter ego… no, it was a division magic from the fact that his size was fluctuating. In any case, it was a group battle type that leveraged the advantage of numbers.
Although Pumpkin can see how they managed to dodge his [Resonance Spell・Burdock Rapier], given that their reaction speed was noticeably swifter than the others, it would seem that things weren’t that simple after all…
“Well, let’s do this.”
“Gugagagaga, looks like he’s ready to die…”
“Alright, I’m gonna burn you to a crisp…”
“Squeak, squeak, squeak, I’m going to chew your tendrils off.”
Whether or not they realized what Pumpkin was doing, the three of them encircled him from all sides while smiling fearlessly as he descended from the ceiling to the ground while began making preparations inside the cloak.
“Go and laugh while you can. [Ripper Arm].”
He set up the swords and blades that he had found within the castle while his arms were hollowed out inside, and then he coated his entire body in magic power to fortify it.
“Do you think you can rip my body apart with such a poor weapon?”
“Do you think you can manage my dust weapon with such a puny thing?”
“In the end, you are only a single person. There is nothing you can do against our numbers, squeak.”
In response to Pumpkin, Karamuji transformed his spear into two swords before taking a stance, while Monokio further heightened the degree of physical reinforcement by magic power, causing the muscles of his entire body to swell.
Toririsu also seemed to have done nothing initially to a regular human’s sight, but to Pumpkin’s eyes, he can see a little magic force moving about in the dome, indicating that the dividing process has obviously already been completed.
However, it appeared that these individuals were employing more of an ability than magic. Compared to his own resonance spell, Pumpkin had the impression that this was further far from the ordinary magic of this realm.
“Try it and you’ll see. You monsters.”
He provoked Monokio and Karamuji, who then attacked.
“Don’t you get it?”
Monokio, who was hitting with his bare hands, experienced pain as knives and swords pierced his hands while Pumpkin repelled their assaults with [Ripper Arm].
“If so, I will burn it…”
At this point, Karamuji sought to do something to the dust floating around the weapon, but Pumpkin triggered several [Gust Blow] in the section of his arm that had been hollowed out before he could.
Significant pressure was created in the arm by the wind being released, and this pressure then surged around the arm in search of an exit.
In this instance, the exit was the area where pressure was most likely to be applied while also being released in some manner. So to speak…
There was a tremendous amount of pressure, which allowed the swords and knives caught in the vines to be evacuated at a ferocious rate since they were more fitting for an exit than the vines that had been fortified and held higher tenacity than steel.
The force with which these weapons were ejected caused them to puncture Monokio and the others, severely wounding them.
“Stop messing around with me! Blast him!”
Karamuji set fire to the dust that was drifting around the area, turning it into a sea of flames, but Pumpkin evaded all of them as Monokio lifted his hand with the blade still embedded in it and dashed at him.
On the contrary…
“Karamuji! What the hell are you doing to me!”
“Shut up! It’s your own fault for being in my attack range!”
The two men began to fight each other and even had a falling out.
Hyulololo. Well, these guys really lack any semblance of cooperation. Regardless of what kind of power they have acquired, the three fools are still the same three fools.
Well, dealing with them is easy, though.
“You two must stop being so agitated. Killing him right now is crucial. Look, we don’t know what he’s going to do next if we don’t act swiftly… And isn’t this the ideal opportunity to exact that fury on him?”
“Oh, now that you mention it…”
“That’s for sure…”
It would have been pleasant if they had continued to be at odds with each other, but when Toririsu stopped at their shoulders and whispered this to them, they both put an end to their argument and turned hostile toward Pumpkin once again, albeit sluggishly.
Tsk, it turns out that Toririsu is the real leader of the group, not the two of them.
If that’s the case, I may have figured out who I have to get rid of first.
