The Empire’s Turmoil (13) – An Exquisite Pogee
We brought Frankurlt to Gedland. At first, my plan was to just hand him over to Zackhart-sama, but Zackhart-sama’s reaction was quite unexpected.
“Best you bring him with you to Rudektrad.”
“But our country still hasn’t accepted his request for asylum so I don’t think it’s right to bring him with us. ”
I agree with Wickharlt’s words.
In response to Wickharlt, Zackhart-sama gave three reasons.
First, Frankurlt needed to go to the capital to negotiate so he could be accepted as an official asylee, but if Frankurlt stayed in Gedland with his current status of illegal asylee, it would be hard for Zackhart-sama to send him to the capital later on. Plus, there was a risk that Frankurlt was lying and the whole thing was Gorber’s ploy so as the protector of Gedland, Zackhart-sama couldn’t allow him to stay, even if Zackhart-sama let him stay at a ship in the middle of the sea. There was a choice of detaining him in some fortress but putting him under the 10th Division’s supervision, a.k.a us, was a much better choice.
Second, even if Zackhart-sama could send Frankurlt to the capital later, the people who brought him to Gorber, me and Lapilia-sama, would be interviewed anyway so it was just better to bring him with us now.
Third, ‘I can’t let a suspicious man stay in Gedland where my cute Rufa was!’
…Seriously?
“But Father, I’m going to the Empire to see Luluria off.”
“What!? Alright, then I’ll let Frankurlt stay!”
Seriously this guy was just…
“…No, I’ll just bring Frankurlt to the capital.”
“Then, I’ll come with you!” Zackhart-sama insisted
“Sir, you can’t. Didn’t you just get scolded the other day?” Blues-san reminded him and Zackhart-sama grunted.
Northbell-sama was looking at the two’s conversation with an exasperated expression.
Anyway.
“Well, then, next time I see you, it will be when I sink your ship.”
“Rest assured sir. I’ll prepare plenty of life jackets so the passenger on your ship won’t drown when I sink it.”
As always, the way these two were getting along was quite unique. In any case, after Luluria and Northbell-sama finished exchanging farewells like that, we prepared for our departure.
“You can stay in Gedland for a few more days…” Zackhart-sama grunted, but we ignored him.
I mean, we had a criminal named Philemas here so we want to hand him over to the Empire as soon as possible.
After leaving the job to send a message about Frankurlt to Zackhart-sama, we left Gedland.
“Still, I’d like to stay a few more days in Gedland,” Luluria said.
“Why? So you can try pogee from various shops in Gedland?” I joked.
“That’s one of the reasons, but mainly because as I said before, I want to build a port that will rival Gedland in the Empire so it’s best to gather information by surveying the actual Gedland.”
…Wait, she wasn’t joking about that?
“My wife is amazing, right?”
Well, yeah, Tsetsie, I do think she was amazing but if Greedl’s Emperor chooses his successor purely based on their ability, isn’t there a chance that Luluria might be chosen as the successor as opposed to his own son? Tsetsie, if that happened your position would become awkward, you know?
I heard that because of Philemas’s rebellion, Luluria managed to establish a firm position in the Empire. Don’t tell me the Emperor allowed Luluria to come with Tsetsie here to test Luluria’s ability? That might be possible considering how General Gafor seemed to have some words he couldn’t say back then.
“Still, it’s sad to part with you again.”
When Rufa said this, Luluria gestured a hug from her horseback, “My, Rufa you’re so precious~”
On the other hand, Tsetsie who was worried that Luluria might fall from her horse yelled, “It’s dangerous!”
How peaceful.
There was the incident when Luluria tried to pick a fight with the King and we did end up bringing along an unusual guest named Frankurlt but all in all, our journey was peaceful. Finally, we arrived at the fortress closest to Yolos Corridor.
That night we held our little farewell party.
In the future, we would very rarely see Luluria and Tsetsie again. Perhaps for some of us, this might be the last time we see Luluria and Tsetsie in this life.
“Starting from the letter you sent, and now this…Thank you for everything,” Tsetsie thanked me again.
“You don’t need to thank me. I just coincidentally came across the information. It’s you two who are amazing for believing in the words of someone from an enemy’s country like me. I really didn’t do anything.”
In fact, I sent the letter in the hope they could stay away from Philemas’s matter, but I never thought that both of them would end up in the center of the matter.
So my reply to Tsetsie was my genuine feeling. What I did was only a small help.
“I’ll definitely repay you someday.”
Luluria laughed. I felt burdened by those words. I really think what I did was nothing special.
“Tsetsie, it’s fine. I’ve already thought of a perfect way to thank Roa properly.”
“What is it?”
I was also a little curious.
Luluria puffed out her chest and replied, “Next time we meet, I’ll cook you an exquisite Pogee! It will be so delicious that you will think my pogee is too much compared to our debt!”
We all laughed at her words.
That was certainly the best repayment I could think of.
***
The Empire had already been contacted so just as when we arrived at the other side of Yolos Corridor, the Imperial Army, led by General Gafor was waiting for us.
“General Gafor. As I’ve promised, Prince Tsetsedra, Princess Luluria, and the criminal, Philemas are all safe.”
“Thank you.”
Oh, General Gafor’s eye bags were thick. He probably couldn’t sleep much because he was worried.
“Roa-dono, thank you for taking care of us. Farewell.”
“When we meet again, I’ll cook you the best Pogee just like I’ve promised, so look forward to it! Rufa, Lapilia-sama, see you!”
“To Roa and Lapilia Brigade, salute!”
Under General Gafor’s command, the Imperial Army saluted us in unison. With this, our mission was complete.
