My team has grown in size.

We have Wickharlt, the Blue Bow, and Diku, the laid-back knight with superhuman power, as my aides. 

There were also Luzel and Frein, the captains of the Roa Brigade.

Finally, Rufa, Nelfia, and Sazabi, my assistants.

I was also assigned a really important task. How did things get so huge… 

We recently had a celebration for the launch of canned food, and now we’ve gathered here again to welcome Luzel and Frein. Because it wasn’t the first time we’d all met, the mood quickly turned lively. 

Still, the food today was a little excessive. Suru-san, the inn’s ‘mascot’, appeared to be in a pleasant mood.

Most likely because Luzel and Frein were here.

Frein had a handsome noble-like face, while Luzel was a young but attractive man with sharp eyes who exuded elegance. Why did attractive individuals like them gather around me?…. Yup. Diku was my only ally here.

However, Diku would be temporarily appointed as a member of the Frein Unit. He wasn’t yet formally my assistant.

His horseback riding ability was the cause for this.

The Roa Brigade would be a cavalry. Wickharlt, who had previously served as a Commander, could ride a horse, but Diku was different.

“Diku’s role on the battlefield is just to stick close to you and protect you, so he needs to be able to ride a horse.”

That’s what Frein told me, and it was why Diku would temporarily join the Frein Unit so that Frein could teach him how to ride a horse.

Frein Unit was in the process of transitioning from an infantry to a cavalry unit, therefore Frein decided to train Diku as well.

“The difficult part is actually finding a horse that Diku can ride,” Luzel said, laughing.

The Luzel Unit was tasked with training the Frein Unit and one other newly formed cavalry unit in horseback riding, therefore they were quite busy.

Rays-sama also tasked Luzel with the purchase of additional warhorses, thus Luzel has been working nonstop. He seemed happy though, probably because he could work with horses every day.

“I’m still wondering if it’s really okay for you guys to join my brigade…” I said, sighing heavily.

“We agreed so why are you still worried about that?” Frein asked

I knew that, but I was still worried. In the future, my mistake might directly endanger these kind friends of mine.

Furthermore, as Rays-sama indicated, the Roa Brigade would be the most agile knights in the 10th Division. Naturally, my decision as the leader may influence the whole 10th Division. 

I couldn’t help but let out a sigh. 

“We will also help as much as possible on the battlefield, so it should be fine,” Nelfia stated.

…Wait? Huh? Nelfia!?

“Nelfia, you’re also going with us to the battlefield?”

“Of course,” she said, “As I already stated, the King’s secretary will also be dispatched to the battlefield. I also said that we will not only assist the army with paperwork on the battlefield, but we will actually fight.”

“You don’t need to worry. Pardon me for saying this, but I believe we have more battlefield experience than you, Roa-sama,” Nelfia stated as she sipped her wine.

“That’s nice…” Rufa expressed her envy.

Since Nelfia and Sazabi were also heading to the battlefield, Rufa was the only one of our team members who would remain in the capital.

“No, Rufa, being on the battlefield is not fun, you know.”

Even if you puff your cheek like that, Rufa, I couldn’t bring you to the battlefield.

“Rufa-dono, it’s only because you managed our inventory perfectly that we can head to the battlefield without worrying about anything,” Wickhalrt softly soothed her. 

Wickharlt also brought Rufa a dessert, and her face immediately brightened.

“Still, to think you’re doing a strange thing without us knowing, Roa.”

The ‘strange thing’ Luzel was talking about was the canned food. 

The canned food was already in the final stages of mass production, so although it was still a secret, I obtained permission to tell Frein and Luzel about it. 

I was relieved to have the permission because we couldn’t keep excluding them when discussing the canned food project.

I also learned from Nelfia that the King has planned to gradually introduce canned food to the masses beginning next month. I was excited about it.

“It’s not a ‘strange thing’ though.”

“You’re the only one who thinks like that. I mean, you’re always coming up with strange things. For instance, the usage of sasar in the mock battle,” Frein added.

“Ah, it was an interesting weapon. If we can prepare them for the town, I think even an ordinary citizen can fight,” Sazabi said.

Even though I didn’t explain the use of pike in detail, Sazabi noticed that. Sharp. 

This reminds me of when Rays-sama asked Drew about the pike, and Drew’s response surprised me.

“We can just keep using sasar, I think we can create a decent weapon by just tying a stone or other heavy object to the tip.” 

Certainly, doing so would cut costs and make pike a simple weapon to build. I heard that the convinced Rays-sama requested the King for the new pikes to be provided as defensive equipment not just in the fortress but also in each town and village. 

It was kind of funny that the mock battle created a new possible application for sasar.

“So? What else are you planning to make in the future?” Nelfia inquired, her face filled with curiosity.

Actually, I’ve been thinking about creating another thing for a while now, but I’m not sure if I want to spread the use of that thing to the masses. 

“I can’t just come up with a new thing every other day.”

That’s why I responded in this manner.

Everyone burst out laughing. 

Looking around the table, I felt that my ‘card’ for fighting Lucifel Veras and the Holy Kingdom was getting stronger by the minute.

I was curious how they’d respond if I told them I was from the future right now.

Will they assume I’m joking and laugh…or would they actually…

The number of persons I wished to protect has grown.

Right. I couldn’t be shaken only because I had my own brigade. I need to get ready for more battles and move forward. 

With that, I collected my determination inside.
