Morning Comes Early for the Knights’ Corps Maid

“I like you.”

I look up and find Alberto holding my hand, then he unexpectedly confesses his feelings for me.

“Can I hear your answer?”

“Um, I’m happy. But…”

I’m at a loss as to how to respond, and I can’t stop my face from burning hot.

The grip on my hand tightens.

His intense gaze draws closer, and his warm hazel eyes are reflected right in front of me, causing me to instinctively close my eyes.

“I like you, Rosemary.”

At that moment, I woke up.

I stare blankly at the unfamiliar ceiling, in a daze. Oh, right, I had moved to the living quarters designated for the servants of the royal palace.

I gradually sat up, still feeling drowsy, and glanced out the window. It was early morning, and the sun was just beginning to peek through. The weather appeared to be good.

I notice my less-than-flattering reflection in the window.

“Dreams can be quite honest, aren’t they?”

Looks like it’s going to be a pretty early morning for me.

I got out of bed and headed to the washroom to wash my face.

It’s been around two weeks since I started working as the knights’ maid, and now I’ve finally grown accustomed to the daily routine.

Initially, I was conscious of Alberto and felt a bit awkward, but he turned out to be a very reliable boss at work, always keeping his personal feelings aside.

However, sometimes he makes suggestive remarks that hint at his private feelings… and sometimes doesn’t.

And the ones who mixed personal and professional matters more than anyone else were the members of the Knights’ Corps.

They are now openly in support of Alberto’s love, and it’s as if they are appealing his virtues to me.

“The other day, the Commander caught the leader of the growing bandits who had been causing trouble in the city! It was so cool!”

“Do you know, Marie? The Commander sometimes goes to the orphanage to play with the kids. He’s incredibly popular there!”

“Miss Edigma, listen to this!”

With a parade of the Commander’s praises, I inadvertently remembered enough stories about Alberto to write a whole book about him based solely on the information I heard.

Anyway, it seems that Alberto is not aware of the knights’ actions, and they don’t do any of these things in front of him. It makes me wonder whether I should praise or criticize their proactive behavior…

At first, I couldn’t hide my embarrassment, I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t do my job, and I thought it was a hindrance to my work in the first place, but gradually I’m starting to enjoy talking to the knights like this.

Somehow, I find it enjoyable to hear about Alberto’s achievements.

Because, just like Rosemary, I too admire the figure of a knight.

‘Is there any woman who doesn’t admire knights?’

As far as I know, I haven’t come across anyone like that. At least until I know the reality.

There are many women who apply to be knights’ maids. However, there are also many who resign.

Although they work with the joy of serving the knights they admire, the reality of the workplace—with its heat, danger, and heavy workload—is challenging, especially for city girls.

Thankfully, as someone who grew up in the countryside and was accustomed to everything, the job as the knights’ maid was rather easy for me. The strict formalities were secondary to the knights, and I could be more familiar with them, allowing for more lighthearted interactions.

But still.

Being constantly bombarded with information about Alberto is a bit overwhelming.

“Shall I consult with Eva-sama?”

I muttered under my breath.

For some reason, the knights were hit by an intense shiver at that moment, but, of course, I was unaware.
