Pioneering the Apocalyptic World - Chapter 27
Chapter 21: The Miko of the Creator God
“But… what should we do, huh…”
After burying the goat, the lion and the barely remaining bones on top of a hill, Regulus muttered.
When I followed his line of sight, I can see the place where the village used to be.
“Even if we call back everyone who ran away… what should we do after…”
All the houses have been destroyed and the ground is polluted by miasma.
Many of the adults who had the power to rebuild had passed away, and in the first place, it would be difficult to continue living in a land that had been tainted by the miasma.
This is because crops are difficult to grow in miasma and are susceptible to diseases.
The crisis has passed, but the situation is not completely resolved. On the contrary, there is still a lot to do.
Was she thinking about the future? Lieze was holding her head and having a headache.
Well, I have to make a point being here.
“Hey guys, who do you think I am?”
“Who?… Rion?”
“No, that’s right! But one more try!”
“… The Miko of The Creator God?”
YES!
Well then, what the miko(I) can I do is?
“Hey Uru, can you still work?”
“… it’s not like I can’t… but before that, I want to eat something…”
While hold her stomach she let out a sad voice.
That’s right, it’s after battle. I also remembered that I was hungry too.
After everyone had a meal (with no buffs), we came to the front of the village again.
“My job is not to fight! It’s to make!”
I take out God’s shovel and stab it on the ground. There is no particular meaning in this pose.
“Before that… Regulus, Lieze, search for and collect any important items left.”
“Oh, okay?”
“I got it”
The two split up and explored the village from end to end.
Even though they examined it, It seems that most of the things in the village were broken, burned or rotten and there were few that remained unharmed. They returned with their shoulders dropped.
“Okay, then Uru, can you break down the the buildings so that it’s easy to collect them?”
“Umu.”
With loud sounds of destruction, Uru demolished the half-collapsed houses as if heavy machinery had passed through them, and I turned them into blocks and collected them.
The wood that has been affected by miasma cannot be used as a building material as it is, but it can be used to make damage potions. For throwing at monsters of course.
In front of the two people who were stunned at our work, the village became a clearing.
“Umu, That’s about it. But… What about the ground? If its left like this it will be bad, right?”
Uru stomps the rotten earth with her feet.
Well, that’s right, it’s no good as it is. that’s why…
“I will just replace it?”
“… Umu?”
“So, from now on, it’s going to be work that only I can do, so you guys can rest.”
I’m sure they are tired after the Chimera fight.
… That’s what I thought, but they didn’t feel like letting me work alone while they rest, so I decided to ask them to gather food.
Considering the people who will return to the village from now on, no matter how much food there is, it won’t be a problem.
“Ah, wait a minute, Regulus, how many residents have escaped?”
“?… Hmm… About forty people, I think.”
“Okay. Well then, go ahead”
Then I send the three out and I resumed the work.
“Okay, let’s do it, hey!”
With a high tension that even I don’t quite understand where it come from, I roughly stabbed the shovel into the ground.
In an instant, with a popping sound, the ground turned into a [Contaminated Soil] block.
I dug up the soil with a repeating the popping sound effect as BGM and collect it in my Item box, while thinking that this could also be used as material.
As expected, digging up an entire village’s worth of ground is a pain, but I’ve done this kind of work dozens of times in my gaming days! My skill level has also increased, so compared to the first day, I’m going even faster, Hyaha!
“After all, you should base materials in stock!
That’s right, this is the hoarding of materials that any player would do. Even if it’s something we don’t use, if there’s material there, we will pick it up and hoard it, it’s already an occupational disease!
I moved a large amount of plain dirt blocks stocked in the item box to the QA box, and this time I buried them in the ground that had become full of holes.
Well, until I got used to this work, I accidentally put blocks in wrong positions and it was annoying, but now it’s just a piece of cake.
After a while, the ground was beautifully arranged like a field.
No, I didn’t do anything special, i just replaced it. Purification of miasma is not possible to me at this stage.
“Next the houses. With forty people… For the time being, should i build ten houses?”
Unlike in the fishing village(Kuala Village), I can’t say anything about inheriting of skills when they don’t even have a place to live. It is even possible that the builders already have died.
…… Well, I made them a tofu house*¹. No, but it just looks like a block, but their functionality is the best without any useless parts!
xxxxx*²
“Even if I can destroy, I can’t help build things… Unuu~.”
With that said, we headed off to gather food.
Even so… Rion said she will be fine, but I’m a little worried because she seems to be reliable person, but a there are times when she’s careless.
“However… it was a strange sight…”
“That’s right… if It’s just to break them like Uru-san, it’s fine, but to it instantly turns into a a block and disappear somewhere…”
The two people walking behind me are having a little conversation.
Well, I suppose so. I was also surprised when I witnessed block conversion process for the first time.
Rion was doing it as if it were a matter of course, but probably only a Miko can do that.
The person who doesn’t realize the value of Rion the most, may be Rion herself.
“Hey, nee-san. Rion said she would do the work, but do you know what she’s going to do? In that miasma-covered land…”
“I don’t know.”
Almost every day, she lamented things like ‘I don’t have enough materials!’, ‘I don’t have enough skill levels!’, ‘If my skill levels hadn’t dropped, I could do more!’ and complaining about something like that, but… wasn’t that the best anti-miasma item that she could make?
I can’t even imagine what she would do in that situation.
“Huh? Is that state is the powered down version of her!?”
“… I-If she had everything in a complete state, I wonder how much she can do…”
“That’s something I’d like to see as well.”
The things that Rion makes are really diverse in type. Sometimes its delicious food, useful items, sometimes failures, and things I don’t really understand.
What she will make next? I started to became excited to see it.
Besides, Rion has a flexible way of thinking, or I should say that her vessel*³ is wide.
Because she even accepts my power of destruction, which should be the opposite of creation.
Because Rion is this kind of person, she might be able to save??
…… Such thinking popped on into my head and I was taken aback.
To save, who???
I wonder if it’s related to my lost memory, I tried to reach out the memory with my imaginary hands to see if I could grab it, but it popped without a sound like a soap bubble and it didn’t come true.
It didn’t take that long for me to even forget that I had thought of it.
“Ohh, nee-san, there’s a boar over there!”
“Hmm, would you like to have yakiniku*? tonight, or Botan Nabe*??”
“Well… All of Leon-san’s meals are delicious…”
Rion’s food is certainly delicious.
But I do know.
“Rion complained that she didn’t have enough skill levels, didn’t have enough cooking utensils and didn’t have enough seasonings when it came to cooking, you know?”
“That is…”
“… That means”
That’s right, it means there is more better food to eat…!
“I’m looking forward to the future, right…?”
The two of them loudly agreed while gulping their saliva.
And then, when we finish collecting plenty of food and returned back to where the village used to be.
“……Huh?”
“In such, short amount of time…?”
A very ordinary soil with no sign of miasma was spread all over the place, and on top of that there were several houses and a stone statue of The Creator God.
“This is … I’m surprised.”
Is this… the power of the Miko of The Creator God?
