It was Maisui and Erwang who gave him the idea to use a notebook to separate his hands and the page when writing, so as not to get the words smudged black.
Han Qingping looked a little happy and nodded his head slightly, “You are able to educate a child and he’s brave to know his wrongdoing— that’s not bad at all.”
He was still laughing when he listened to Lin Lan who kept talking about Sanwang’s naughty behaviours. Not wanting to mention it out loud, he noted that naughty children would only have become so by following their parent’s behaviours. Now that the mother was reformed, the child was also on his way to change, which was a very good thing.
Naturally, Lin Lan didn’t know what he was thinking about. After Han Qingping left, she had sent Dawang to give New Year gifts to her relatives by bicycle.
Dawang’s maternal grandma was given a thermos pot and a teapot. Without a thermos pot, it was inconvenient for the elderly to drink hot water. Other food was also given to the family. When giving the presents to Old Lady Lin, a set was given to Yang Han’s family as well in order to thank him for his help.
Old Lady Lin made some rice cakes and bean buns at home, so she asked Dawang to bring some back home as well as two, big silver carp.
The Yang family also returned the gifts, which were comparable to Lin Lan’s gift since they didn’t take advantage of her generosity.
Lin Lan gave her Third Sister an enamel jar, a lunch box and some food so that she could bring food out when she went to ‘work’.
There was a hawthorn grove in Lin Mei’s Village and there were also many peanuts. She returned a gift with a small basket of hawthorn and peanuts. Plus, Lin Lan was also given a cashmere scarf. The cashmere thread was exchanged with an old lady when Lin Mei went to the city to make cloth and this was something that she wove herself.
Originally, Lin Lan thought that Han Qingsong would suggest giving the main house a New Year’s gift, but she pretended not to know since he didn’t say anything about it. If it was for a relative they had a good relationship with, she would give a set of gifts out of etiquette. For those who always looked down on her and scolded her every day, there was no need for this kind of etiquette.
Since Han Qingsong was separated from the main family, he had handed over the reins of this family to her. He allowed her to allocate the money and things in the family, never interfering nor asking about who and what she sent to anybody. If she didn’t tell, he wouldn’t know.
So, there were so many good things, but they didn’t send a single one to Old Lady Han.
Speaking of, Han Jinyu poked her head around the intersection every day, wondering why her Third Brother had to send half of the fish oil noodles to the main house.
She looked forward to the gifts with glittering eyes that seemed to resemble twinkling stars, but in the end, there was nothing.
