On the way home, Han Qingsong thought about the oppression in the main house that contrasted the happy and sweet Lin Lan, who paired with his naughty yet adorable children at home. Subconsciously, he started to walk faster as well.
Han Qingyun caught up with him after entering the door, panting, “Third Brother, why are you walking so fast? I called out to you several times and you didn’t answer. I hurried and quickened my pace, but I thought that you were trying to make me lose track of you.”
Han Qingsong glanced at him and said, “The wind was strong and loud, I didn’t hear you,” Due to the entanglement on certain propositions last night, he looked a little more grim now than before.
Han Qingyun only assumed that Han Qingsong’s family had a fight on New Year’s Eve, so Third Brother being in a bad mood and remaining unhappy seemed to be something that was expected.
He asked Han Qingyun to wait in the yard while he went inside to take a look.
Han Qingyun, it’s not like they haven’t gotten up yet, right?
No wonder many women in the village gossiped that Lin Lan often slept until 9 or 10 in the morning. Those rumours turned out to be true.
After a while, Han Qingsong invited Han Qingyun to the east room.
The west door remained closed.
Han Qingyun entered the east room, where Maisui had already gotten up and was combing her hair. When she saw Han Qingyun approaching, she said her New Year greetings to him.
The boys were still staggering around.
Originally, he slept with his clothes on, but for some reason, Sanwang ended up having his lower half naked. Without a pillow, his sleeping posture was awkward, resulting in him snoring away soundly.
Han Qingyun used his cold hands to ‘freeze’ his buttocks.
Sanwang suddenly woke up from the cold, “Oh my God, I dreamt that I fell into a hole on a frozen lake.”
Han Qingyun smiled and said, “The sun is shining on your backside. Get up quickly so we can celebrate the new year.”
After saying this, the children all woke up. They got up one after another to say their New Year greetings before heading down to wash their faces.
Maisui wanted to light a fire and start cooking, but Han Qingsong asked her to rest.
According to local customs, on the night of New Year’s Eve and the first two days of the new year, men would do the cooking and washing, so women didn’t need to do anything.
This could also be considered as a holiday for women who have worked hard for an entire year, allowing them to temporarily leave the stoves.
Though, for men to barely do any of the housework during the new year was a rare case, applicable only to the old Han family and a few others. Then again, it was nothing more than the old lady deliberately giving orders to her daughter-in-laws. She thought that after going through a hard time marrying into her husband’s family, she would be a fool to not order around her daughter-in-laws.
Han Qingsong made a fire to cook.
Han Qingyun said enviously, “Third Brother, if I were a girl, I would most definitely marry you.”
Han Qingsong glanced at him with disgust before he sat in front of the stove and continued to light the fire.
Maisui immediately patted her chest and said, “Uncle, even so, you won’t get a turn because there’s still me. Plus, I’m actually a girl.”
Sanwang also came over to join in the fun, “And me! I will be dad’s boyfriend,” He stretched out his hand, “Dad, I love you, I’ll allow you to eat my hand.”
