When the rules were first posted on the door, Sanwang felt uncomfortable. He always felt that something was wrong with him because he kept having the urge to check it out from time to time.

Maisui even deliberately placed her test papers and homework on their kang to see if he dared to doodle on them.

With Xiaowang watching over him, Sanwang never made any mistakes.
Lin Lan felt happy with that— it looked like she could start relaxing soon.
A few days have passed after that and it will be the start of the Qingming Festival(1) tomorrow. Although everyone would be busy farming, the festival still had to be celebrated. When eating cold food, the local custom was to roll pancakes.
(T/N: The Qingming Festival is held to honour and respect our dead ancestors. The Chinese people would celebrate it with a few ceremonies, but the main event would be to clean up their ancestor’s graves and offer incenses with the entire family)
When she came back from work in the evening, Lin Lan made the dough for the pancakes. She pounded the mugwort that was cut by Dawang to extract the juice before adding it to the flour to make some green dough. That made the pancakes a delicate shade of green that was entertaining for the kids.
