Strict Wife Of The ’70s Manages The Household - Chapter 965
Lin Lan couldn’t help laughing when she heard it. Sanwang had made up a story just to entertain the kid, but Xiaowang took it seriously and started to sing with gusto.
The eggs were laid from the ducks at home whereas the pickled soup was specially cooked by Lin Lan, who added white wine and other ingredients. As the end product, the duck eggs were glimmering with a beautiful layer of fat above it.
Xiaowang’s fingers were covered with egg yolk oil. He didn’t dare to adjust his glasses when they slipped, so he merely tilted his head and tried to push them back with his shoulder.
Lin Lan went over to help him fix his glasses as she kissed his forehead, “When our little boy is a few years older, mom and dad will take you for a surgery and you won’t have to wear glasses anymore.”
Xiaowang leaned his head on Lin Lan’s hand, very happy.
Lin Lan, “Mom is going to cut the meat, let’s make a good amount of meat and egg yolk dumplings.”
Last year, there were not enough ingredients to cook, so she only used a few red dates and red beans to celebrate the occasion. Therefore, this year, she wanted to let her family have a good meal.
In the north, eating zongzi at this time was either for wealthy families. Otherwise, the city people would purchase ready-made ones. No festival could be celebrated without having at least a few dumplings.
The children in Lin Lan’s family have formed a habit of eating specific foods on specific days— Yuanxiao on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, spring rolls on the second day of the 2nd lunar month, fried beans on the 3rd day of the third lunar month, Qingming rice balls on the Qingming Festival, and zongzi on the Dragon Boat Festival…With that, they look forward to celebrating each festival one by one.
Lin Lan cut the meat, marinated it with a bit of salt before she cleaned up the vegetable patch in the yard. Then, she waited for Maisui and Sanwang to come back in order to have breakfast together.
After breakfast, Lin Lan taught the children to make zongzi. Maisui learned it as soon as she was taught, but Sanwang was bad at it regardless. In fact, his zongzi fell apart before it was even finished.
Sanwang, “…This thing is bullying me!” He clearly followed his mother’s methods and it was absolutely correct! Why did it fall apart?
Xiaowang made small zongzi with his small hands, mumbling, “Twist and turn, make a small pocket, put some fat rice in it and feed it a red date. Twist and turn, put on new clothes and wrap a big quilt, then we make a small pillow and muah~” He kissed the zongzi before asking Lin Lan to help tie it up. Just like that, his tiny zongzi was ready.
Sanwang poked it curiously, but it didn’t fall apart. He poked it again, remaining fine and intact, “Hey, brother Xiaowang, you’re good.”
Xiaowang said proudly, “I know.”
“Why did mine fall apart?” Sanwang scratched his small, flat head.
Xiaowang blinked his long eyelashes a few times and his big doe eyes twinkled like they were full of stars, “That’s because…”
“What?”
“You have to pour your love into it!” Xiaowang held up a zongzi leaf, “Dear leaf, thank you,” and then he started to twist and turn.
Sanwang, “…” After thinking about it, he also started singing to the leaves at the top of his lungs, which gave Lin Lan and Maisui goosebumps.
Maisui rubbed her arms, “Oh, stop singing, my goosebumps are falling into the zongzi.”
She didn’t know why Xiaowang’s singing was warm and adorable, but when the same tune was sung by Sanwang, something was just weird.
