Strict Wife Of The ’70s Manages The Household - Chapter 973
Ren Hongxia felt that it might have been organised to make up for the loss of colleges not being able to recruit students throughout previous years. It was estimated that the recommendation was made in the past few years since 1966. 16 year old’s were probably the lowest age accepted, though it was highly unlikely that they would cap the age limit to be higher than 25 years old.
Lin Lan looked at Lu Changwei, “Teacher Lu, please sign up for it if you have a chance.”
It seemed like a good choice to change the subject and not talk about ideological or political courses. Although Lin Lan was a propaganda worker and liked to ‘brainwash’ members and children, she didn’t want to force them into listening to her.
Ren Hongxia looked at them and shook his head, “I also received the document last year, but it was useless. The application form was not sent to the commune and the county had enough.”
Last year, Lin Lan’s team didn’t say anything about it. She guessed that Han Yongfang knew it was useless and didn’t mention it so as not to make the educated youth feel uneasy.
“This year, it is said that each commune has quotas. The Secretary Head must help us find out more about this.” Lu Changwei was a teacher in the commune’s junior high school and was rather well-informed.
Ren Hongxia was brought into the conversation by Lu Changwei and talked about the brigade’s registration for the Workers, Farmers and Militia University.
Of course, not everyone was eligible to sign up. The individual would have to have studied in or up to, at least, junior high or high school level. Otherwise, why would anyone go there if they couldn’t read a single word? Therefore, this registration was basically for educated youths and students who have received some form of education. Those who have not received education didn’t need to think about it, but they weren’t interested in the slightest anyway.
Last year was the first year this program was initiated and the number of seats was limited. Excellent advanced workers were selected from the army and factories, so it never made the turn to the rural communes.
Since there were slots up for grabs this year, the youngsters here could definitely register and try their luck, but the grading and review might be immensely difficult.
Those who wanted to register had to go to the brigade to get the form. The brigade will first review the 1st step. The most important thing was family composition, followed by age, health, knowledge, etc. Then, they would fill in the application form and send it to the commune. The commune would review the 2nd step and the County Revolutionary Committee would review it for the 3rd time before finally having the university itself review it.
Ren Hongxia was talking excitedly until someone approached her. With that, she immediately stood up and said, “Comrade Lin Lan, let’s talk later.” After that, she left in a hurry.
Lin Lan let out a sigh of relief.
Lu Changwei looked at her and smiled, “Captain Lin has never been to school, but with your current educational level, it’s much better than those of us who went to school. You should try pursuing your studies further into university.”
Lin Lan shook her head, “No, I’m old and have several children, so I don’t meet the requirements.” Besides, she had once graduated from graduate school and didn’t need to study again.
