First Outer World Story Series: The Black Mist that Devours - Chapter 131

(Kurokiri POV)
A year had gone by since the creation of the sixth level.
In the past year, monsters that had been in existence for a long time have frequently risen in rank.
First of all, Moyasuke, the Giant Mist Wolf, who had been following Izumi, ascended in rank and grew to become the Mist Demon Wolf.
?Mist Demon Wolf
A higher species of the 4-meter-long beast-like wolf-type demon, Giant Mist Wolf.
While its fundamental specifications are nearly identical to those of the Giant Mist Wolf, it has developed the ability to manipulate the nature of the surrounding mist to function as a barrier, allowing it to be employed for a multitude of purposes.
In terms of external appearance, its forehead is now adorned with a coat of arms.
Summoning cost: 2200 HP, MP, SP each per unit.
According to Izumi’s report on the competence of the Mist Demon Wolf, the firepower of their assault through the mist barrier seemed to be considerable, indicating that they were indeed a higher rank species.
Furthermore, following Moyasuke’s elevation to the rank of a Mist Demon Wolf, other Giant Mist Wolves who had amassed a fair amount of experience were also showing signs of advancing in rank.
And subsequently to the emergence of the Mist Demon Wolf, Aria has evolved from a Mystic to a Noble Mist.
?Noble Mist
A 1.7m tall spirit-like humanoid demon, a higher level of Mystic.
A female spirit whose body is composed of mist-like magical power.
It has the role of governing Mystic, while at the same time being able to perform a wide variety of mist attribute skills.
Summoning cost: 2500 MP, 1500 HP & SP each per unit.
Noble Mist’s most distinctive characteristic is undoubtedly the wide variety of skills they possess.
Naturally, ?Mistbolt?, ?Mist Plosion?, ?Illusionary Mist? can be used but ?Mist Bullet?, ?Mist Sickle?… etc., and some potent skills, for instance, the mist attribute skill, which is equivalent to my ?Sharp Aqua Pillar? are not usable. At the very least, it is expected that virtually all the skills that fall under the lower ranks can be utilized.
However, with regard to Noble Mist, except for Aria, who has been diligently nurtured in “White Mist and Black Swamp Forest” throughout the years, the rank-up for other Mystic appear to be a long way off due to the high turnover.
Moving on to the next rank-up are Mud Knights, a higher rank of Mud Soldiers, and Mud Mages, a higher rank of Mud Magicians.
?Mud Knight
A magical creature-type humanoid demon about 1.7m tall. A higher species of Mud Soldier.
This is a type of magical creature in which experienced Mud Soldiers are ranked up, demonstrating a high aptitude with respect to the equipment provided, and possessing a level of capability at which they can obtain ?? Proficiency ?? in the handling of apt equipment.
Not only do they faithfully execute their assigned duties, but they also exercise independent thought and action when necessary, which allows them to be versatile in their operations.
Unless its core is destroyed, it will automatically recover, along with its equipment.
Summoning cost: 1500 MP per unit.
?Mud Mage
A magical creature-type humanoid demon about 1.7m tall. A higher species of Mud Magician.
An experienced Mud Mage has been elevated to a higher rank, and now exhibits a high level of aptitude for mud magic. The skills available arre equivalent to those of those who have attained ?Mud Magic Proficiency II?.
The types of skills applicable to them are more than Mystic and less than Noble Mist.
Besides faithfully carrying out the designated tasks, they can be deployed for diverse purposes since they are capable of thinking and acting on their own initiative when necessary.
Unless the core is destroyed, it will automatically recover.
Summoning cost: 1800 MP per unit.
Both were extremely useful as they had adequate intelligence to be able to lead a force.
I mean, an average human party (6 people under level 3) can be annihilated by just one of them. It was exceptionally formidable.
However, the following monsters, these guys, and the Mist Demon Wolf & Noble Mist shared the same problematic characteristic of not emerging in ?Monster Create? until they were ranked up again. It was likely, though, that the majority of such monsters were available from level 6 onward.
So, the next monster in question was a higher species of Cuélebre.
This one is still a troublemaker…
?High Cuélebre
A dragon-like serpent-type demon about 25 meters long.
This dragon is characterized by scales that harden with each attack and poisonous breath.
In comparison to Cuélebre, all of its abilities have been heightened; the solidity and sharpness of its scales are at a level where a mere thrust can be fatal, and its poisonous breath will induce death in an average human as the poison will spread throughout their body even if they inhale only a small part.
Summoning cost: 2500 each for HP, MP, and SP per unit.
Note: Due to the low status of the master, there is a possibility that it will not listen to commands.
Yeah. Another status deficiency!
I wonder how many regular Cuélebre and many other monsters were sacrificed because of this one monster…
Ultimately, I constructed an isolation room at the end of the first level and sealed it there. Should the Octopus King invade once more, I planned to drop it in the middle of the enemy camp using the Long-distance Transportation Formation.
A monster that didn’t obey orders or a situation where I didn’t have time to assume full control as I did before was inoperable. And I didn’t have time to take care of that now.
Now, to be honest, up to this explanation, this was all merely the opening performance.
After all, a message like this suddenly poured into my mind.
[A kin of the ‘King of the Devouring Black Mist’. Kokoro Izumi, the ‘Kirijin’ has fulfilled certain conditions.]
[From now on, based on the conditions that have been met, Kokoro Izumi will be transformed into a Demon King.]
