The Lying Counselor’s Eloquent Reasoning - Chapter 1
Episode 1 – Lying is the beginning of counseling
“Those who enter my room are always those who need me. Even so, the truth is, you’re slightly different. Right now, I need assistance from people like yourself. Hence, this is the reason for your presence here.”
That was the first thing that guy said. Yes, that was what he said when Ayasaki Tomomi opened the door and stepped into the room. It was as if he was awaiting her arrival.
That room was approximately ten tatami mats in size. The floor was made of linoleum and the interior resembled that of an office, except for a single desk positioned across from the door. And there was a man seated at it. He was a skinny man in a white coat. Although his hair was gray and short, and his features were neat, under his eyes were dark circles, producing an atmosphere of unhealthiness. Above all, his age was unknown for certain. He appeared to be in his twenties or so, and if you took into account his pale cheeks and gray hair, he might be in his mid-thirties.
“U-um, I read that this is a place where you can get your problems solved.”
While being somewhat bewildered by the man’s unconventional appearance and words, Tomomi pulled out a pocket tissue from her bag and showed it to the man. It was a pocket tissue with an advertisement on it. On there, “Your concerns will be solved. Please feel free to contact us. Uroma Counseling Room” was written on it.
And she, raising it, was dressed in a dark brown blazer uniform, presumably a high school girl. Her hair was long and straight, flowing from her shoulders to her waist. Her eyes and nose were lovely, one could even classify her as a Bish?jo. However, there was a degree of irregularity to her attire. Even though it was still September, she was wearing a pair of gloves and a scarf. Furthermore, black tights were being worn. It was as though she didn’t want to expose even the slightest hint of her skin.
“Yes, yes. You’ve been distressed over a matter continuously, and so you’ve come to this dubious place, I assume?”
The man shot a glance at the pocket tissue that Tomomi held up and chuckled. Calling his own place dubious himself… A sinking feeling of uncertainty immediately flooded into Tomomi’s heart. She wondered if this person was in the right mind.
However, that was barely enough to dissuade her from addressing her own issues.
“Um, please take a look at this…” Tomomi cautiously took off her left glove and revealed it to the man.
Underneath her gloves, her exposed skin was gray. Yes, unlike the healthy color of her face, it was a heavy gray, like an overcast sky.
“You see the strange color of my skin? No matter which hospital I went to, nothing would cure it. So??”
“Haha, this is not a significant matter.” The man snickered at Tomomi’s stern expression. “As a disease, this is truly mild, truly mild. Indeed, truly mild. It’s not even close to being a minor disease. It’s so mild that you aren’t qualified to be here.”
“Mild…”
The man was cackling, and Tomomi couldn’t restrain herself from getting annoyed.
“Don’t be absurd! I’ve been to all sorts of hospitals! But my skin color never recovered, and even the doctors claimed they don’t have any idea how to cure it!”
“Is that so? But it looks like something that can be easily cured to me.”
The man’s eyes suddenly flashed keenly as he stared at Tomomi. “In fact, what’s the harm in having your skin color shift to gray? Instead, wouldn’t it be more of a unique characteristic? From now on, changing your way of life to produce yourself as an interesting person like that would be fine, isn’t it?”
“Please don’t make fun of me! I’m seriously struggling with this!”
Tomomi’s blood was finally threatening to boil over with rage.
“Well, well. You don’t have to get so worked up. What I’m trying to say is that you are not in a critical condition, and if you want to heal your skin, you can do it rather quickly, and originally you are not in a position to come here, but as an exception, I am in need of someone like you right now, which is why you appeared in front of me??”
“That’s enough. I’m going home.”
It was not worth the effort; a complete waste of time. Tomomi immediately gave up on the man, headed out the door, and left. She heard the man calling out from behind her, “Hey,” but of course she ignored him.
