Chapter 4 – Aftercare

“Good morning, Jimmy.”

This was always the first thing Sayuri said upon waking up in the morning. For her, this has been a habit for the past two years.

But now, no one responded to her words. She was all alone on the large double bed. On the table by her side, a photo frame displayed a picture of a strange woman and a broad white man huddled together in a cozy relationship.

“Jimmy, why are you…”

In her underwear, Sayuri sat up on the bed and suddenly picked up the photo frame and gazed at it. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she looked deeply grieving. She was a beautiful 27-year-old woman with a well-rounded face. Her figure was rather slender, her chest and hips were not bulging, and her skin was as white as snow.

“After all, it’s my fault you’re…”

As she mumbled, the gloom on Sayuri’s face deepened even more. But it was only for a moment. In the next second, she shook her head to dispel it and got out of bed. As if to say, “Let’s not think about sad things anymore.”

Then, leaving the bedroom, she headed to the kitchen to make breakfast and ate it at the low table in the living room. I ate it at the low table in the living room while watching television. It was six o’clock in the morning. A local news program was airing, halfway through the day.

In between the program, there was a commercial.

“Your concerns will be solved. Please feel free to contact us. Uroma Counseling Room”

It was a fairly simplistic commercial, with a man in a white coat in a gloomy atmosphere sitting on a chair with a confident look on his face. It was a low-budget commercial, typical of the early-morning local broadcast, but Sayuri was immediately enthralled by the catchphrase.

I wonder if my concerns can also be solved…?

It occurred to her that she needed to head there right away.
