I think the main reason behind that “leftover women” concept is that men generally don’t like older women, they prefer younger ones so as you get older it’s less likely a man will court you. Also as you get older it’s also more dangerous to have children so thats also a factor. This is my understanding of the term, I don’t agree with this societal perception of women though.
