Chapter 142 – High Class

[How’s the situation?]

[Things are not looking good. There are already casualties.]

[The android models TX3001, AAMS, and EL110 are currently wrecking havoc on the civilians. Some drones are also participating.]

[It is nothing short of a massacre.. what a nightmare.]

[Apparently the Royal Capital has already been taken over by the Old Humans.]

A red floating window was displayed in front of Sumireko’s eyes.

It was an emergency draft recruitment notice. Such a message was said to be an urban legend.

As soon as the sun had began to set, a loud explosion had occurred in the castle town. That signalled the start of the large scale terrorist attack.

The full extent of it was still unclear. All that was known was that the Old Humans were the cause,
and that there were androids alongside them that were slaughtering the citizens.

The Royal Guard and the police might not be enough to deal with them. Sumireko understood why an emergency draft was being sent out.

“There’s no helping it.. I have to go.”

Sumireko finished her preparations in haste and heads for the entranceway.

As soon as she reached for the doorknob, the faces of Haruka and Yuzurika suddenly surfaced in her mind.

Immediately after, Sumireko remembered the time when was being played with by Haruka and was made to squeal a lot.

Sumireko’s cheeks dyed bright red in embarrassment. She shook her head and drove the memories of the time she had with Haruka out of her head.

Sumireko opened the front door with a little more force than usual and stepped out.

The surrounding vicinity was in turmoil.

The once serene world, the result of having over fifty percent of the population staying inside the virtual world at all times was now filled with clamor. Everybody got booted off forcefully from the virtual world and had to deal with the ongoing situation.

Sumireko jumped onto a support aircraft she had called in advance and set her sights for the Royal Capital, where the pillars of fire and black smoke were rising.

?

“The Royal Capital server got physically hacked. The Royal Guards are now useless.”

Walking through the flower garden was Eustia, seemingly unconcerned.

The Royal Guards had been cut off from the royal server and had ceased to function. In a way it was the better outcome compared to having them turn hostile.

“It seems that the Old Humans are blessed with a lot of talent.”

Makina walked alongside Eustia, matching her stride.

“Ah yes, there’s no doubt about it. Humans are truly so…interesting.”

A number of floating windows appeared in front of them.

They were live feeds from the suveillance cameras installed in the city and castle town.

The androids had turned feral and are slaughtering the citizens.

The scene that unfolded before them was akin to that of a cheap and clichéd sci-fi movie.

Hiding behind the shadows of the androids were the descendants of the Old Humans. They had taken over the Royal Capital, the place where Eustia resided.

The goal was none other than taking back the land.

Under Eustia’s authority was the free reign of reaping the life of anyone that has a Talisman embedded in their body.

“The casualties has exceeded thirty percent. Are you gonna leave them alone?”

“I am not a God right now, but a King. If my dear children can’t handle it, then that’s the end of the line for them.”

The King sat down on the throne that had just materialized besides her. She smiled as if feeling no sense of crisis and watched the situation unfold.

One by one the crippled Royal Guards were being blown to bits by terrorists using their weapons.

The Old Humans’ hacker was working tirelessly. In a matter of minutes, the security system that should’ve taken over 5,000 years to crack had been breached.

Eustia was thrilled to find out that there was someone among the Old Humans with hacking skills comparable to that of an S rank Japanese citizen.

The population of the Old Humans that was once 8 billion had already dwindled down to around 260 million. Eustia was moved by the fact the these people, who’s fate was to wither away and become extinct, had stood strong.

“Hang in there, my dear children.”

One of floating windows had reverberated loudly.

The visage of Nanasaki Sumireko was shown prominently.

Sumireko released a large number of mini missles from her right prosthetic leg, they tore through androids’ chests and blew up.

The explosions in question was relatively basic, causing only a small puff of smoke. But they were enough to cripple the androids and render them out of commission.

The support aircraft Sumireko was riding on also shot it’s own missles, eliminating every android in it’s wake.

A swarm of small drones aimed their guns at Sumireko.

However, numerous lasers shot from the tip of Sumireko’s tail stopped them in their tracks.

Sumireko’s eyes then caught a man holding a sniper rifle from a rootop a few kilometers away.

There was no Talisman response from the target. Sumireko squinted as soon as she spotted the Old Human.

The muzzle of the man’s rifle was definitely aiming at her.

Sumireko was capable of shooting the man at a distance thanks to her body mods.

She held up her prosthetic left arm. A pale orange light accumulating at it’s center.

Sumireko could’ve fired it immediately, but she hesitated.

Her opponent was neither an android nor a drone, but a flesh and blood living human being.

Even though he was an Old Human and a terrorist, he was human nonetheless.

She saw the muzzle of the sniper’s rifle light up.

Sumireko tilted her head and dodged the bullet.

Yuzurika or Haruka might get shot just like that sooner or later.

There was zero chance she would leave the man alive.

Sumireko’s left arm shoots a laser along with explosive flames. The laser landed and disintegrated the sniper in an instant, as well making a hole in the building behind him.

[Thank you for your support.]

On the ground was the riot police unit. They were about to infiltrate the castle town with the intention of reclaiming the Royal Capital.

The Old Humans’ ability to breach through the security and hijack the androids were nothing short of impressive. But as expected, the riot police might give them a run for their money.

Sumireko took a deep breath and looked around.

Her ammo was already running low as well as her power reserves.

The aim of the terrorist attack was in the Royal Capital and it’s surroundings. But smoke can also be seen from the city a distance away.

Sumireko instantly became worried for Haruka and Yuzurika’s safety and flew off to the school.

On the way, she found people running away from the androids.

The scene was like that of a sci-fi movie, everyone was being chased by the androids who were behaving like zombies.

Everytime an android managed to catch someone, they would snap their neck or body using their immense power.

Sumireko had already seen such bodies.

Once again, she raised her left arm in order to burn the androids into a crisp from a distance.

Just as she was about to fire, her safety device suddenly kicked in.

Sumireko was appalled, thinking that her safety device shouldn’t had activated since it’s currently an emergency situation.

Shortly after, Sumireko realized. At the exact same time she could no longer fire her laser, she couldn’t hear any more gunfire from the riot police. The terrorists must have found a way to revoke everyone’s armament authority.

Sumireko had lost her rights to use her weapons. On the other hand she could still use her tail and support aircraft just fine.

Sumireko flew with her aircraft in order to help people upclose.

There were twelve androids, their movements were unsteady but swift. They continued on relentlessly chasing after the humans in the hopes of killing them.

Among those being chased was a well-known guy that even Sumireko knew.

Kureha Shun.

He was the childhood friend of the popular Uta Miyako, his fame was comparable to her.

Aside from Shun, Riho Hibiki and Unikumo Mika were also present. They were fleeing alongside their group of friends.

One of those lot got his feet tangled up and fell down. In an instant an android caught up to him and grabbed him by the legs. He died from having his limbs ripped off.

Hibiki and the others paled as they witnessed the scene and ran with all their might, their breathing uneven.

However, Hibiki eventually reached her limit and fell down on the ground.

“Hii-chan!”

“Don’t, Mika!”

Mika ran back to Hibiki in order to help her. Shun tried to put a stop to that by grabbing Mika, but his reach had only sliced the air.

“No, Mika! Don’t come here!”

There was still quite a distance between Sumireko and Hibiki.

At this rate, the androids would reach them first.

No matter how hard Sumireko tried, there was no way for her to make it in time.

Hibiki watched the scene in front of her in slow motion with a sense of despair.

Mika was running towards her with a tearful expression on her face.

The backs of Shun and her other friends gradually fading away.

The sense of dread at the thought that she will get caught by the androids and die a horrible death. The realization that her best friend Mika will also die shortly after her.

How did she get caught up in this absurd situation when just a few moments ago everything was still at peace?

Hibiki faced her death without knowing what to do.

There was nothing for her to do.

Just as when one of the androids had reached out it’s hands on her back….

A flash of red light fell from the sky and landed on the android, destroying it.

From the rubble emerged a woman, standing prominently.

Her glossy red hair flowed as she checked around her surroundings. She glanced at the stunned Hibiki and Mika, smiling softly.

Having found a new target, the androids rushed towards the red haired woman.

“Run away!”

Hibiki cried out.

The next moment, a flash of red light ruptured in every direction. The remaining androids were all torn to pieces.

“It’s Shiono Claire…!”

Sumireko observed Hibiki and the others with her support aircraft from above.

S Rank citizen Shiono Claire.

She had reached the upper echelons of S Rank due to her exceptional talent. She possesses a monstrous power that was incomparable to Sumireko.

If Claire was beyond the constraints of the terrorists’ armament authority, her power should be more than enough to save everyone from the current crisis.
