Chapter 143 – Bug

Haruka opened his eyes and was greeted to an unfamiliar ceiling.

His consciousness was still fuzzy, and his eyesight quite blurred.

The ray of light that shone through the window tempted him to peek at the contents outside. All Haruka could see was the several fumes of black smoke reaching up into the sky far in the distance.

“Haru-kun…?” said the girl who was quite familiar and dear to Haruka from his side.

“Miyako?”

As he slowly turned his head in the direction of her voice.

Miyako’s somber face had filled Haruka’s vision close up.

“…You’re too close.”

“HARU’GUUN~”

Miyako eyes quickly welled in tears. She wrapped Haruka into her arms while wailing loudly.

“Are you okay?”

“That’s supposed to be my line! Mou’~”

Just as Miyako started pressing herself against Haruka, he felt an acute pain in his chest.

“Ouch…”

“Ah, sorry.”

Seeing Haruka’s face contort in pain, Miyako quickly released him from her embrace.

Haruka held his aching chest as he asked.

“What in the world happened…? Is everyone okay?”

“So you didn’t remember, huh.”

The shock of being shot was enough for Haruka to supress his memory of what happened.

“I was shot. But then… Haru-kun managed to cover for me. Three times.”

“You got shot… by that old man?”

“Yeah.. If you didn’t received first aid a minute sooner, you would’ve died. Haru-kun was very hurt…”

Once again, Miyako’s eyes welled up in tears as she recalled about what happened.

“And then, what happened after that?”

Haruka was supposed to be the one who would protect his lovers. But what had happened was that he ended up passing out after getting shot three times.

Haruka gritted his teeth in frustration at his helplessness and balled his fists so hard that they bled.

“After Haru-kun got shot, Ria stepped in to restrain the old man…”

“Is Ria safe?!”

Haruka was distraught after finding out that Ria had covered for him.

Meanwhile, Miyako was very jealous at how concerned he was for Ria, though obviously it was not a good time to be thinking so.

“Ria ended up getting shot ten times, but she’s alive.”

“TEN?!”

Hearing that Ria was shot ten times was enough for Haruka to almost pass out from the shock.

“Her left arm almost blocked all them. She also got shot around her right leg.”

The nerves of Ria’s left arm ended up being ruined. She would have to undergo regenerative treament to heal herself.

“And what happened to the old man?”

“I killed him while he was reloading.”

“Wha…!”

Miyako smiled thinly, her face still swollen with tears.

Perhaps the old man had not expected Ria to charge at him which had him dumping his magazine at her out of surprise. Miyako took advantage of the opening when he was reloading and dealt a fatal blow on the old man.

“…. I’m sorry. If only I was stronger…”

“Don’t say that… I’m happy you protected me.”

Miyako turned her gaze wistfully towards the scenery outside. Haruka followed after her.

The once beautiful city was now collapsing and in complete ruins.

Something terrible must have happened while Haruka was unconscious.

“… The people from the lower layer turned into terrorists and rebelled.”

“……”

“There was someone who was so good at hacking that they almost took over the Royal Capital.”

“And what happened after?”

“S Rank Hatano Mikoto and Shiono Claire did their best and pulled through. Even though they managed to avoid the worst outcome, many people still lost their lives.”

“That’s terrible.”

Haruka sat up, his face twisted in pain. Miyako hurried over to stop him.

“Stop, Haru-kun. You have to rest.”

“I’m going to see Ria.”

“You’ll have to wait a little bit until you’re better.”

“I really want to see Ria.. will you help me, Miyako?”

“Mou?, there’s no helping it.”

Miyako lent her shoulders to Haruka as they started walking.

“She’s here.”

“Thank you.”

Haruka took a deep breath as he opened the door.

“Ah?, it’s Haruka.”

“Hey, is it fine for you to walk around right now?”

Both Ria and Yunika were inside the patient room and greeted them.

Ria was situated on the bed, she was smiling just as usual.

However, her left arm was wrapped in bandage, her middle finger was missing from the base.

Haruka hugged Ria without saying a word.

“I’m so glad you’re alright.”

“I’m the one who’s supposed to say that to you.”

The two cried and embraced in silence.

The four had spent the rest of the day chatting about pleasant topics, as if to distract themselves from the devastating terrorist attack.

A little later, Shinku and the others came to visit and the patient room became lively.

“I almost became a widow out of nowhere.”

Tsuyuri said with a straight face as she was clinging to Haruka’s left arm.

“We’re not married yet.”

“You’re always too rash, Haruka. Please take better care of yourself.”

Tsuyuri didn’t suffer from PTSD. But when she heard that Haruka had almost died from defending Miyako, flashbacks about the death game had surfaced from to her mind.

She sincerely hoped that Haruka should take better care of himself.

“Still, I’m really glad.. Everyone is safe.”

Reika said with a depressed smile on her face.

She purposely did not mention that it was a happy occasion, since there were casualties among the students of the same grade as them. But still Reika was glad that Haruka and the others were safe, she really thought so.

Haruka watched his lovers chatting with each other happily and thought that he should strive harder in order to protect them next time.

?

The sun had set, and everyone had already gone home.

But there was a visitor who came to Haruka’s room.

It was Shiono Yunika. She was currently wearing her hair down, a stark difference compared to her usual twintails.

“What’s wrong Yunika?”

“Ehm, I need to talk to you…”

Yunika approached Haruka and leaned close to him.

She kissed him lightly and rested her head on his shoulder.

“Thing is, Haruka.”

“Yeah.”

“You see, my Talisman got bugged, and then it came.”

“What came?”

“Menarche.”

“…?”

Yunika uttered a word that was unfamilliar to Haruka. A question mark appeared at the top of his head.

“Wha?t I’m sayi?ng is tha?t, Danna-sama’s baby, I’m ready to have them.”

When Haruka was on the verge of dying, Yunika’s instincts went haywire.

She will never be able to find more better genes than Haruka’s. Before he dies, she wanted him to leave a child behind.

Yunika’s instincts believed that Haruka was the best male. Those feelings had bugged her Talisman.

As a result, Yunika had her first menstruation. Her body ended up ignoring the conditions that had been set by her Talisman.

Yunika’s body was ready to give birth to Haruka’s baby at any time.

“Seriously?”

Haruka was left stunned by Yunika’s shocking confession.
