Chapter 148 – [End of World]
There had been minimal changes in Haruka’s life following his near-death experience.
Haruka heads to school for the first time since he was discharged from the hospital.
Neither Miyako, Ria, nor Yuzurika were with him.
Only Yunika was at Haruka’s side.
She was happy to have Haruka all to herself even if it’s just a little while. Today, Yunika wore her hair in a bun instead of her usual twintail hairstyle.
She didn’t style it herself, she had Haruka do it for her.
Her mood was even brighter than usual because of that.
Neither of them exchanged any words, the two walked quietly as they nestled together with smiles on their faces.
They were holding each other’s hands tightly, not showing any concerns to the gazes of the other students that were walking alongside them on the same route to school.
Yunika rubbed her cheeks against Haruka’s arm, her lovey dovey aura in full display.
It made walking a bit difficult for Haruka, but he didn’t mind and let Yunika do as she pleased.
When they reached the school entrance, they parted ways and went to their respective shoe lockers.
As if wanting to stay together until the very end, Yunika quickly ran back towards Haruka and nestled to his arm again after she changed her shoes.
The students who witnessed the whole scene couldn’t help but let out a heavy sigh, captivated by how close they are.
Even though they were attracting attention to themselves, the two remained glued to each other.
When it was time for them to enter the classroom, the two finally let go of their intertwined hands. Their palms were damp with sweat, they didn’t find it unpleasant.
Yunika was still reluctant on letting Haruka go, she ended up clutching the hem of his blazer with her hand that still carried his warmth.
Upon entering the classroom, a lively conversation was taking place among six students seated around Hibiki’s desk: namely Hibiki herself, Tsuyuri, Mika, Akito, Shun, and Rui.
Haruka’s expression slightly clouded for a moment.
To put it bluntly, Yunika had become a complete outcast in the classroom.
She only just confessed her feelings to someone she loved, but she ended up getting shunned for it.
Although Yunika wasn’t bothered by it and was always smiling happily, Haruka found the situation concerning.
On the other hand, it was a different case for Tsuyuri.
Perhaps due to her peculiar demeanor, Tsuyuri’s confession to Haruka at the live concert didn’t affect her reputation in the classroom.
“Seriously, you really are strange, Tsuyuri. You do things at your own pace too much.”
The gathered group’s main topic of conversation was about Tsuyuri.
Everyone nodded in agreement with what Shun had said, except for Tsuyuri, who looked puzzled.
“Well, that’s just how Tsuyuri is, isn’t it?”
Shun patted Tsuyuri’s head proudly in front of everyone.
Shun’s physical appearance and confident demeanor made his displays of affection feel incredibly natural, no one felt any discomfort or uneasiness about his actions.
Tsuyuri, too, did not seem to have put up any particular resistance from it.
Only one person, Haruka, was shaking his shoulders in anger.
Haruka approached Hibiki’s desk and casually slid his arm around Tsuyuri’s waist, lifting her up.
“Good morning, Tsuyuri.”
“Morning, Haruka.”
“What’s with you, Obi. You’re not welcome here.”
Akito glared at Haruka with murderous eyes.
“I came to greet my lover. Also, don’t touch girls with boyfriends so casually.”
“Huh?????”
Haruka held Tsuyuri in a tight embrace and promptly let her go.
Tsuyuri looked up to Haruka in a daze, her cheeks slightly blushing.
Yunika walked the long way around to her desk in order to avoid the group. She watched Haruka and Tsuyuri with an envious gaze.
Shun was on the verge of clicking his tongue, but he managed to hold it in.
It was clear to everyone that he couldn’t fully suppress his frustration. It was the first time they had seen Shun make such a face.
“I just don’t understand, Tsuyuri. What’s so great about Haru?”
“The two of us are compatible.”
Tsuyuri answered Shun’s snide remark without batting an eye.
“Haru-kun is someone who would risk his life to protect others, there’s nothing strange about falling in love with him.”
Miyako joined in the conversation and added her own thoughts.
“That’s right. He protected me numerous of times.”
Tsuyuri nodded her head in agreement to Miyako.
“It’s the same for me, you know? Haru-kun protected me by taking three bullets to the chest. It even left scars.”
“I would have done the same thing. Unlike Haru, I wouldn’t even put you in danger.”
“But Shun, didn’t you run away when I was about to get caught by those androids?”
Shun tried to boast to Miyako with confidence, but he was immediately shot down by Hibiki.
“I didn’t notice at that time… it’s my bad…”
Shun was taken aback from being struck where it hurts, he averted his eyes away in embarrassment.
Hibiki didn’t blame nor was she disappointed in Shun.
In a life-threatening situation, who would have the luxury to save others? If their roles were reversed, Hibiki couldn’t imagine herself going out of her way to help Shun.
That’s why, Hibiki had started to reconsider her stance on Haruka.
She had read from Miyako’s chat logs that Haruka risked his life to protect her.
Hibiki felt that she could understand why Tsuyuri and the others had fallen in love with Haruka, even if it’s just a little bit.
“Haruka, sit down.”
“Okay.”
When Haruka took his seat, Tsuyuri sat on his lap as if it was natural. She leaned against him and assumed a relaxed posture.
The whole sequence of events fueled Shun’s anger to an unbearable extent.
Meanwhile, Miyako wore a smile on her face, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
“Good morning to you too, Yunika.”
“Good morning, Tsuyuri.”
Yunika turned her face halfway and returned Tsuyuri’s greeting while preparing for class.
“Miyako, why were you with Haru when you were attacked?”
“We just happened to run into each other on the way home.”
Haruka tightly embraced Tsuyuri, watching the exchange between Miyako and Shun with disinterest.
“Ah?, Haruka.”
After she finished preparing for class, Yunika turned her head around towards Haruka.
“What’s up?”
“I just received a notice… I’m now pregnant.”
“Is it a boy? Or a girl?”
“It’s too early to tell, dummy.”
Haruka reached out his free left hand towards Yunika while still holding Tsuyuri in his other arm.
Naturally, Yunika lightly entwined her fingers with Haruka’s.
“Be a good Papa, Haruka.”
“Leave it to me.”
Yunika beamed a smile at him.
The atmosphere around Haruka and Yunika, who were discussing about child-rearing in a calm manner, had become frozen.
Everyone stood still, as if they were turned to stone.
“Yunika… you’re kidding, right?”
The voice that emerged, as if forced out, belonged to Rui, who had been silently listening to their small talk up until that point.
“Huh? It’s true though…”
“Pregnant…. but we’re still students.”
Hibiki muttered in shock. It was a story that was hard to believe at first, but after seeing Yunika’s serious expression, she couldn’t help but think that it was true.
Although Yunika was an outcast in the classroom, she still had a lot of admirers.
She was often approached by male students in other classes and grades. They thought that if someone with Haruka’s status can have a relationship with her, they have better chances in doing so.
The fact that Yunika was pregnant was so shocking that the news quickly spread throughout the entire school.
Everyone around Yunika had began to stare at her with curiosity, though she wasn’t particularly concerned about it.
In fact, Yunika saw it in a positive light, since Haruka will pay more attention to her from hereon.
Haruka made sure that the pregnant Yunika and his other lover, Tsuyuri, was not allowed to have much contact with other males. He discreetly kept them close by his side.
With each occurrence of Haruka’s attempts to monopolize the two, Reika, Shinku, and Miyako could feel a deep, heavy sense of dark emotions accumulating in the depths of their hearts.
Although they were showered with overflowing affection by Haruka at home, they felt dissatisfied that they couldn’t openly be his lovers at school.
Even Shinku, who harbored fears of their relationship being exposed, shared the same sentiment.
While Yunika and Tsuyuri were freely talking and enjoying themselves in Haruka’s company, Shinku couldn’t even engage in a proper conversation or share the same level of physical affection with him openly.
It was driving her crazy.
A little while later, Ria returned to school. Haruka’s surroundings had became even more livelier.
In contrast, Shinku grew increasingly gloomy.
Shinku’s gradually reaching her limit, ever so slowly.
?
One day, while Haruka was washing his hands after doing his business in the restroom, Shun came and stood on the sink next to him.
Without looking at Haruka’s face, Shun started talking as if speaking to his reflection in the mirror.
“Don’t get too cocky just because things have been going well for you lately.”
“Huh?”
Haruka was more confused than angry at being suddenly confronted with a fight.
“I will give you Tsuyuri and Yunika. In exchange, if you ever lay your hands on Miyako or Shinku, I will kill you.”
“How arrogant of you to speak as if you own them.”
As Haruka glared at him, Shun maintained a composed smile and returned a gaze of his own.
“Just shut up and listen to me. I’m serious.”
Shun said one-sidedly and then left the restroom.
“That guy used to be more composed in the past…”
Haruka muttered to himself in the empty restroom.
During elementary school, Haruka didn’t feel any particular friendship towards Shun.
In their daily life, Haruka had always found Shun as condescending. More importantly, he was an enemy when it came to pursuing Miyako.
However, on the surface, the two appeared to get along well. Shun, too, feigned friendliness towards Haruka.
Now that they no longer had time for each other, their clashing personalities became more apparent.
In the past, whenever Haruka saw Shun and Miyako talking to each other, he would always feel a piercing pain in his chest, as if his heart was being torn apart.
Haruka had grown accustomed to being tormented by his feelings of inferiority.
But now, he doesn’t feel the pain anymore.
