The Pain of an Inferior: A Blistering Love Comedy That Begins After a Broken Heart - Chapter 150
Chapter 150 – Clash
“What does a festival committee member do?”
Haruka asked as he walked alongside with Reika. It was the first time that he had heard about the festival committee.
“We’re responsible for writing proposals for the events, managing the schedule, and preparations for the festival. Of course the normal students are also included in helping with the preparations.”
“There’s still a month till the festival, are we going to start preparing already?”
Haruka assumed that he was called to do some heavy lifting, but now that he thought about it, the A-10 Academy festival would be held in December, which was still far away.
He wondered if it was still too early to start decorating and setting up things right now.
“Today we’re just going attend a meeting.”
Haruka tilted his head to the side, wondering if his participation was really necessary for that.
He accessed Reika’s school cultural festival committee tag, he noticed that there was one other member from their class aside from Reika that was also a member of the committee.
“Who’s the other committee member?”
“That person confessed his feelings to me. After I rejected him, he stopped showing up.”
Reika furrowed her eyebrows and let out a dry laugh.
Haruka couldn’t help but laugh as well.
“You really are popular, huh?”
“I guess..”
In fact, Reika had received the most confessions among the popular girls in their classroom.
There was no doubt that Miyako was the most popular, but Reika beat her in that area in a landslide.
“I look like the most approachable, so I tend to be taken lightly.”
Reika muttered with a resigned look on her face.
Among the numerous exceptionally beautiful girls gathered in their class, Reika’s status was just average.
While the others like Miyako and Shinku had been racking up top-class achievements, Reika, in comparison, was very ordinary.
With a girl like Miyako whose status was too outstanding, the hurdle was high for the boys who wanted to approach her.
Even if they were to start a relationship with her, their standing would be too unbalanced, and the boys would eventually fail to maintain their dignity because of it. In the end, they refrained from confessing altogether.
Therefore, the only type of boys who would confess their feelings to Miyako were those who had excellent looks and status like Kureha Shun, or those who were shameless enough and didn’t know their place.
“Reika, since you changed your style from a neat and tidy type to the complete opposite, are things different now?”
“Not really. Though the number of confessions from introverted boys had decreased, in turn, I receive more confessions from outgoing boys instead.”
“That’s troublesome.”
Haruka was handsome, but there were plenty of guys who were the same. As far as his status was concerned, he was the worse out of all the boys studying at A-10 Academy. Maybe if Reika received enough confessions from men with good status, she would eventually drift away from him.
Haruka’s expression darkened a little. In contrast, Reika wore a big smile on her face.
“It really is! And that’s why I’m really looking forward with you accompanying me today.”
“Huh?”
Haruka failed to understand what Reika was implying, but when he was just about to ask, they already arrived at the classroom where the meeting was held.
He soon understood the reason why Reika had asked for his help.
There were more than twenty students, both male and female, in the meeting room. The room was a little larger than a regular classroom.
When the boys saw Reika entering the room, their eyes lit up. But not long after they saw the stern looking Haruka next to her, all of them lost their expressions at the same time.
“Ah, so that’s how it is…”
Haruka felt a sense of déjà vu.
That was because the same situation had already happened to him before.
The two of them sat alongside each other on some vacant seats.
There were many eyes on Haruka and Reika, he could only imagine how much hardship Reika was enduring up until now.
The other female members of the festival committee were just ordinary girls, which made Reika stood out even more.
In their classroom, there were numerous high class girls including Miyako, so Reika was inevitably overshadowed by them. But when she was out in the world, Reika would shine in an instant.
“Well then, it’s time to begin. Let’s start the regular meeting.”
Five minutes after they entered the room, the meeting of the festival committee had started.
Reika immediately reported the progress of the first-year students’ presentation.
Unbeknownst to Haruka, it seemed that a dance performance was going to be given by a group of male members, mainly Shun, Akito, and Rui, who were recruited from the five first-year classes.
In the group photos of the dance members which were included in Reika’s report, it showed that all of them were pretty handsome.
Although the male members were still students, but their visuals and dancing skills were high enough to be accepted in an idol group. It wouldn’t be surprising to imagine that they would be able to excite the audience.
Reika gave the outline of the performance and the time it allotted. She also include explaining the visual effects that will be used on stage.
The first year students may not have their own booth, but they are allowed to participate in stage performances. The proactive and outgoing students naturally seize such opportunities to earn achievements.
It goes to show that engaging in activites that liven up school events was famous for garnering high recognition and praise.
Reika finished her report in a dignified manner and sat down.
She felt Haruka’s eyes on her so she sneaked a peek at him on her side. As expected, their eyes met. Reika averted her gaze shyly.
[You were amazing.]
[I’m embarrassed desu.]
Seeing Reika blush and look down, Haruka quietly listened to the reports from the others.
Suddenly, he scanned around the meeting room and asked Reika a question that suddenly popped in his head.
[Come to think of it, aren’t there very few people in the room? There should be two people per class, right?]
Since the chairperson of the committee had already started talking, Haruka composed a message with his thoughts and sent it to Reika instead.
With two committee members per class, there should be more than seventy members in total of the six grades in school. But here, there were only less than half of that, maybe around more than twenty people.
Even if only one of the two members per class participated, the number was still small.
[If it’s about reporting our progress, we can just send it to the server for the committee members.]
[Wouldn’t it be fine for Reika to do that as well?]
Receiving the message, Reika stopped listening to the meeting and stared at Haruka.
The two stared in each other’s eyes.
Message in progress….
…….
Message in progress…..
…….
Haruka could see Reika trying to compose a message, rewrite it, and repeat it again on the floating window.
After a while, she finally sent her message.
[I wanted to be alone with Haru-kun.]
