Anyone who’s ever played a game with guns in it knows.

In a game where pain and death are as real as in real life, amateurs can’t even show their faces. Fear makes their body freeze and won’t let them do what they tell it to.

Haruka stared in the direction where the enemy might be, and waited for any movement.

He sees are a group of five people, different from Haruka and the others, and their movements slowed down after they get close to a certain distance.

Kuzuryuu Masaomi, who always has a fearless smile on his face, leads the group, and Sakuragi Yui, Koizumi Serie, Sasaki Asako, and Kageyama Gonzo silently followed him.

They entered a three-dimensional factory zone that seemed to have been built to make battles three-dimensional.

There are always fire escapes and scaffolds around the perimeter of the buildings, making it easy to enter from building to building.

“This position is the best. Kageyama, set up the sentries.”

“Y-yes sir!”

Kuzuryuu ordered the unmanned machine gun to be set up on the street with a clear view.

The gun detects the enemy by thermography and attacks automatically. If there is a drawback, it’s that it can’t register identification. If someone enters within the range of the gun, they will be attacked without mercy, even if they are an ally.

“Sakuragi, is the enemy moving?”

“No, they haven’t moved from where they were.”

“That big factory… It’s a good place for an ambush.”

The place where Haruka’s group are supposed to be is one of the biggest buildings in the factory area.

It was a run-down building, weathered and reddish-brown in places. It looks fragile and miserable for its size.

“Sakuragi, give me the mods so I can move in.”

“Okay.”

Sakuragi handed the detection mod, which is important for scouting, to Kuzuryuu.

“You guys shoot the enemies who are escaping from the building. If only one of them comes out, make sure to check that if they’re wearing a gas mask. If you misfire, I will kill you.”

The four people, who had been entrusted with enough guns, nodded nervously.

Kuzuryuu put on a gas mask and headed for the building with a grenade launcher and an automatic rifle.

There were only two entrances to the factory. The rest had no windows, and the only way to escape was to smash through the walls.

If they fled to a clear street, they would be blasted by unmanned machine guns, and if they fled to a more intricate area, they would be met with the simultaneous fire of the four people standing by.

Kuzuryuu does not expect each of them to hit the target, but if all four of them fire at once, they will probably inflict a wound or two, if not a fatal wound.

If they are lucky, they can kill someone.

Incompetence has its uses.

And for Kuzuryuu, who doesn’t doubt that he is capable, charges single-handedly into the enemy’s stronghold.

The first thing he fired was a gas grenade.

The cylinders are ejected with a light pop sound, and they released a cloud of poisonous gas inside the factory. Of course, it has no effect on Kuzuryuu, who was wearing a gas mask correctly. It’s a merciless blow that torments only the enemy unilaterally.

The visibility gradually worsens. The gas spreads as if it were crawling on the ground. But it’s not enough.

Two shots, three shots, carefully advancing, Kuzuryuu used the grenades sparingly.

The light dots on the map that indicate the enemy are almost overlapping. They could be close by.

“They’re not on the first floor, are they?”

Kazuryuu looked around the floor completely filled with poison gas, and smiled at the stairs leading to the second floor.

At that moment, gunshots and explosions sounded from outside.

“Whoa… Looks like they got a catch.”

He smiled wryly.

The map hasn’t been updated yet, so the light spots are still overlapping, but they will probably be moving in the next update.

Kuzuryuu stopped his cautious movement and boldly takes a big step.

He ran up the stairs in a single bound and fired a gas grenade from the landing toward the second floor.

There might still be an ambush.

Kuzuryuu wore a bulletproof vest, but his legs, arms, and above all, his head was not protected. He had to be on our guard.

He proceeded in poor visibility.

Gas grenades, the key to the assault, still remain.

The gas will not clear for a while. Kuzuryuu waited for the map to be updated at this point.

He shot gas grenades everywhere so that the gas will be spread evenly, and look at the map.

“What the hell?!”

Kuzuryuu is wide-eyed and astonished.

?

“I knew it… I have to shoot them, don’t I…”

“We don’t have a choice… If this game is real, we have to fulfill our clear conditions to survive.”

Sakuragi still couldn’t accept that this was reality.

However, after hearing Kuzuryuu’s rational explanation, she at least felt that she had to survive.

If this was some kind of bad experiment or project, and she would not actually die, there would be no problem to put aside her anger.

But if this is a game played by Red Rom, if she doesn’t survive in the game, she really will die. Their misdeeds were well known to Sakuragi.

“Don’t think too hard. You won’t be held responsible for the crime anyway.”

Sasaki said nonchalantly.

Koizumi and Sakuragi had indescribable expressions on their faces.

“The gas is leaking… Kuzuryuu is attacking.”

Gonzo, who had been watching the factory that Kuzuryuu had invaded, muttered those words. The three of them look at the factory.

A gas of an ominous color, which they had only seen in TV and movies, was leaking out from the gaps of the buildings. It seemed that those gas grenades spread over a very wide area.

If the enemy is hiding on the ground floor, they will be fatally damaged.

The sound of galvanized iron plates being stepped through from outdoors are heard.

The sound is cut off, and a few moments later, the sound of a landing echoed through the air.

“What?!”

Gonzo sensed that something was wrong and raised his weapon.

The women look in the direction of the sound. Koizumi and Sakuragi leaned towards each other with their weapons clutched to their chests.

The sound of the roof still echoed down to the ground. Everyone followed the source of the sound with their eyes.

“There’s someone on the roof!”

Sakuragi shouted what everyone already knew, without realizing how foolish it was to do so.

The sound of galvanized plates being stepped on continued to be heard.

A shadow was spotted on the roof.

Gonzo fired at it with a near-miraculous reaction speed, but he only hit the roof. The sound of ricocheting bullets echoed.

“T-this is bad… We’re at a disadvantage! Everyone go for the one without the sentrie-”

“Aa-”

Something fell from above.

Sakuragi didn’t know what it was.

Even though she didn’t know what it was, her mind was going through various memories.

Sakuragi thought that this must be what they mean when their life were flashing before their eyes.

As soon as she came to this realization, the shell exploded as it fell to the ground.

The fragments of the murderously powerful bullet shell destroyed all the bodies around it.

Koizumi, who was behind Sakuragi, was the only survivor.

“Ah, ah, ah, ah…”

She did not run, scream, or cry. She just continued to watch the horrific scene in front of her in a state of true stupor.

She entered a state of shock that she could no longer even see the scene in front of her.

A single gunshot rang out.

The bullet entered Koizumi’s forehead as if it was being sucked into her brain, destroying the cerebral spinal cord and ending her life.

“One more…”

Obi Haurka muttered to himself as he gazed at the blood-red earth from the rooftop.

?

“S?h?i?t?…!”

When Kuzuryuu checked his map, four light spots had disappeared, leaving only one nearby.

However, there’s no doubt that they had the enemy cornered. The dots still overlap.

An explosion sounds in the factory.

?Are they trying to escape by destroying the wall? I won’t let you!)

Not minding the sounds of his footsteps anymore, Kuzuryuu ran in a straight line in the direction of the sound.

After escaping through the gas fog, he found himself in a large space that extended all the way up to the ceiling.

A third doorway was opened there. There was no sign of the enemy.

“D?a?m?n?!”

It took him about 30 seconds to get there after he heard the explosion.

They couldn’t have gotten far.

Kuzuryuu exited the factory through an open air hole, on the lookout for an ambush.

Kuzuryuu thought that the enemy was done for, and removed his gas mask, which was obscuring his vision, with a simple gesture.

Clearing the left and the right, he searched for traces.

There was almost no ambient noise inside the game. The wind was calm and there were no cars running. Therefore, if one listen carefully, they can hear distant sounds.

When Kuzuryuu closed his eyes and concentrated, he could hear the slight scraping sound of gravel.

With his swiftness and agility due to his well-built physique, Kuzuryuu closes their distance in a blink of an eye.

He chased after them with a grenade launcher slung on his waist and an automatic rifle.

He saw someone running along the maze of outdoor scaffolding. It was a man with long, ash-brown hair. He took one look at Kuzuryuu and ran as fast as he could, facing forward.

Without hesitation, Kuzuryuu pointed the muzzle of his gun at the man and fired the trigger.

However, because of the distance of more than 40 meters and the difference in height, the bullets were bounced off the scaffolds and walls.

It’s difficult to hit a man who was moving sideways.

Kuzuryuu went from the nearby stairway to the foothold where the man just passed.

The man fled from one factory to another with light steps.

The opponent made full use of leaping and climbing, Kuzuryuu chased after him with his proud legs.

The moment they met, Kuzuryuu fired a bullet without hesitation. The bullet didn’t fly straight but hit the handrail, due to how out of breath he was from running.

The man turned around and fired three shots from his pistol. Kuzuryuu bent down to avoid the attack.

The man leaped and disappeared from Kuzuryuu’s sight. The height to the ground is more than twenty meters. If they fell, they would probably die.

“Are you crazy?!”

Kuzuryuu quickly ran after him and reached the scaffold from which the man had jumped.

“Three, two, one…!”

When Kuzuryuu looked down, he saw a man throwing something from the roof of a building about seven meters below.

Kuzuryuu immediately realized that it was a hand grenade, and popped it with his gun. He quickly held his automatic rifle in front of him to use it as a shield.

The popped grenade exploded at a little distance from him, and its shell scattered around him.

“Gghh…”

The bullet shells flew at super-speed and did not inflict a fatal wound, but damaged Kuzuryuu’s legs and arms, as well as the automatic rifle he was using as a shield.

“S?o?n? ?o?f? ?a? ?b?i?t?c?h?!?”

Kuzuryuu threw away the useless automatic rifle and pulled out a pistol from the holster on his waist.

He chased after the man, his body dulled by the pain.

He took a grenade from the grenade launcher, discards it, and loads another.

Unlike his large number of gas grenades, there were only two grenades in the grenade launcher.

Only the axis was aligned and then shot without any guesswork.

Even though he had aimed at the target to some extent, the bullets flew to the right place, which he didn’t expect. A visceral explosion shatters the scaffolding in front of the man with a shock.

Losing his escape, the man panicked and turned around, heading in a different direction.

“Fu?c?k? you!”

He fired the second grenade. This time, the second grenade was aimed at the man.

The man quickly fled over the railing, but was blown away by the blast in midair.

Through a gap in the wire mesh, Kuzuryuu saw the man lying unconscious on the roof.

Throwing away the grenade launcher, Kuzuryuu lightens himself up and, dragging his aching leg, heads for the roof to put an end to the man.

He was bleeding heavily from the attack he has just received. Kuzuryu’s life was in danger if he doesn’t stop the attack soon.

He came close to the man with wobbly steps.

He can see the man through the wire fence, but he still can’t get a clear shot. He can’t fire unless he pulls himself out from the handrail.

When Kuzuryuu finally arrived, the man was already awake.

Kuzuryuu pointed his gun at him and pulled the trigger first.

The sound of air escaping from the gun, the shock echoing in his guts. However, Kuzuryuu was unharmed.

The bullet the man fired was protected by his bulletproof vest.

To the man’s astonishment, Kuzuryuu fired a bullet with his hand trembling from the wound.

Kuzuryuu can’t feel his fingertips, so he can’t fire another shot. The trigger was heavy.

Sweat dripped into his eyes. Kuzuryuu squinted, and in his narrowed vision, he saw the man fall gently behind him.

“Hahaha, serves you righ-”

Kuzuryuu scoffs at the man, but then a gunshot rang out.

Kuzuryuu’s body weakened and he fell to his knees.

Without understanding what had happened, Kuzuryuu fell to the ground.

“-Haruka!”

The last thing the Kuzuryuu heard was an unfamiliar woman’s shrill scream.
