The Tanaka Family Reincarnates - Chapter 13
Chapter 13 – Daily Life
Two days after the tea party, peace returned to the House of Stuart.
Although they were a friendly and gracious family, they rarely invited so many people to the mansion because they did not actively participate in the nobles’ society.
Having somehow received a passing mark from their mother for their efforts to socialize at the tea party, the three siblings were taking care of silkworms in Emma’s shed.
“Silkworm-sama… Is it time to change your type of feed?”
Emma muttered while studying how the giant larvae looked, before they were clad in cocoons.
“What are you trying to do this time, Emma?”
George asked while placing the giant larvae one by one inside the compartment.
“Hmm, wouldn’t it be wonderful if the cocoons could be dyed by controlling the feed? Don’t you think so?”
The difficulty in the manufacturing process of Palacian silk was the dyeing process. Palacian water was found to be unsuitable for this, so they had to buy water from other territories to dye the silks. Since a large amount of water was needed, the cost of transporting water ballooned.
“It’s very Emma-like to change this part instead of improving the dye.”
George smiled bitterly. It had become easier to communicate with his sister after they remembered their past life memories, but her love for insects continued.
“More importantly, George nii-sama, I heard that you have been exchanging letters with Lady Marina.”
William said spitefully while weighing a giant larva.
(George) “No, no… A letter came, so I just wrote back. To clarify, there were also letters from ladies other than Lady Marina that arrived.”
(Emma) “You are so popular, nii-sama. William… being interested in little girls is disgusting.”
(Wiliam) “Why am I the bad guy?!”
William grieved.
(Emma) “Look here. Surely you remember what Lady Marina looks like!”
(William) “Yes, she is a very cute loli.”
Emma’s gaze was full of endless contempt.
“…! Not that! That extra rare pink hair and eyes, that perfect drill[1] hairstyle!”
[T/N 1: drill hair, also called ringlets, typically associated with ojou (noble young lady) characters]
Hn?
Drill hair?
“Assuming we were reincarnated to an otome game world… Wouldn’t it mean that girl is the future villainous daughter!”
Certainly, in a reincarnation genre of books, drill hair is a hairstyle that suits the villainous daughter very well… But…
“That girl is a good child. Maybe it’s not like that?”
Emma had the same opinion as George.
“Well… anyhow, our whole family reincarnated, and none of us have any useful knowledge. Even if we were to analyze this, we wouldn’t get anywhere, right?”
After all, the Stuart family has more cheats[2] than the Tanaka family.
[T/N 2: Cheats here most likely refer to the advantages in wealth and status]
“If we don’t know what will happen, we can only tackle things head on and do what we can right now, ” said Emma, while thinking about the composition of the new silkworm feed. She was happy because her job was the same as her hobby.
It’s a luxury to have a clear interest and having the wealth and talent to do it.
???
“More importantly… George nii-sama, did you find a cat?”
“Ah… about that problem…”
The Tanaka family loved cats, but this world only had a few kinds of animals.
It has been through natural selection since there are monsters.
The only animals that could be seen were horses, which were kept as a means of transportation, and hunting dogs for hunters. Insects had also evolved their characteristics to protect themselves from monsters.
“There are some, but… the price…”
Cats had been kept as pets from long ago, but it seems that around 100 years ago, the population of cats decreased sharply due to an infectious disease.
Pets were considered luxury items, and cats all the more because of their small population.
However, the Tanaka family is a family that loves cats.
And no matter what, the siblings wanted to give it as a present for their father Leonard, the biggest cat-lover in the family, on his birthday next month.
Emma wanted to get a cat by any means.
Back in those mofu mofu[3] days once again.
[T/N 3: Mofu mofu = fluffy, petting something soft to the touch e.g. fur, feathers]
