“But, this… is troubling, indeed.”

The situation was grave. Even if the body were healthy, humans couldn’t live if the mind were sick.

“William? Won’t it be fine if we just tell them that it doesn’t hurt?” George tilted his head in confusion again.

“People’s subjective impressions couldn’t be corrected that easily.” William shook his head.

William’s face scrunched up in disgust at Emma’s metaphor.

Leonard held Arban’s hand.

The Tanaka family was the only ones saved.

Arban called for his beloved Emma.

Instead of responding to her uncle, who mustered his last bit of strength to call for her, Emma was lost in her thoughts.

“Emma, can you hold onto Arban’s hands?”

“Please, Emma.”

Leonard, Melsa, and George turned to Emma.

“In other words… we should just overwrite their subjective impressions…”

‘Uh-huh, uh-huh, that’s it!’ Emma was convinced by the idea she came up with and nodded on her own.

“What do you…”

George defeated the monsters, William analyzed their findings in detail, and Emma devised countermeasures. They had unknowingly demonstrated the usual procedure for making monster karuta here.

‘Alrighty!’ Emma nodded as she resolved herself before holding Arban’s hand in place of Leonard.

“Uncle, it’s me, Emma. Can you hear me?”

“Em……ma,” Arban nodded weakly.

“Uncle, please listen to what I have to say carefully. Actually, I’m a [Holy Maiden].”

“Holy… maiden…?”

“Yes. Not a fake one, okay? But [the Real Holy Maiden],” said Emma with an earnest voice, not sounding like she was telling utter lies at all.

“Nee-sama… what are you…?”

“This girl… Spouting lies so smoothly and brazenly as always…”

While William had no idea what Emma was trying to do, George remembered the bitter experiences he had in his past life because Minato fooled him.

“Uncle, do you know? [Holy Maidens] are amazing, you know? They can heal injuries like magic!”

Ignoring her brothers’ voices, Emma continued her lies.

“Uncle’s burns are just a piece of cake before the power of a Holy Maiden!” 

“…*chuckle*”

Arban smiled, happy that his cute niece would even tell him lies with such a serious face to make him feel better.

“Ah, Uncle? You don’t believe me? I’m telling the truth! Everyone in the Royal Capital treats me like I’m a [fake]. Even when rumors… have been floating around, I just endure it silently by myself… I-I thought if it’s Uncle… surely you would believe me… So I summoned my courage and confessed for the first time, yet Uncle, you… Emma’s so sad…”

Emma’s eyes grew moist as she spoke. A tear ran down her cheek and dropped onto Arban’s.

“—! —no! Belie—!!”

The dying Arban was shocked to see his cute niece suddenly crying and desperately shook his head to deny it.

“That girl… Just how many of those fake tears have successfully…” ‘…fooled me back then.’ George made a sour face recalling Emma… er rather, Minato’s mischief.
