The Tanaka Family Reincarnates - Chapter 9
Chapter 9 – Tea Party
Blue sky.
White clouds.
Refreshing, invigorating breezes blew on the Stuart family garden.
Blessed with good weather, the Stuart’s first tea party was held as a garden party.
The guests dressed up meticulously. With expectations of sharing in this family’s prosperity from now on, they eagerly waited for the three siblings to appear…
The eldest son George – very active and manly, has been going on hunts since before he reached adulthood.
The second son, William – a diligent boy who has been helping the family business for as long as he can remember.
The eldest daughter Emma – who has a weak body and a docile personality. She is a gentle, beautiful girl.
— —
The majority of the guests thought of the three siblings in this way.
It’s because Palace County, belonging to House Stuart, was a borderland.
Almost none of the neighboring nobles had ever seen any of the young three siblings.
The only information came from when Leonard’s parents talked about their grandchildren, which highlighted their qualities through the filter that all proud grandparents had.
There’s no way that the eldest son’s dislike of studying,
the eldest daughter’s obsession with bugs, nor
the second son’s being all but a gofer to the eldest daughter
would be exposed to publicly.
———
“Everyone, welcome to Stuart’s garden party. I hope you have fun while you are here.”
It’s so unremarkable… or rather, it was a perfunctory greeting from the inattentive Leonard. After that, the three siblings were introduced while the servants started serving the guests.
George was frowning in clothes he was not used to wearing.
The young ladies in attendance misunderstood him as a hard-to-approach, but a stalwart and cool young man.
Emma wore an informal silk dress made from silkworms that she raised herself. She kept her mouth shut so as not to look spaced out.
She had been nervous since the beginning of the tea party. Thinking, ‘I have to protect myself…’ she inadvertently aroused the protective urges of the noble sons in attendance.
William was… smiling sweetly to a cute little girl. Just like… here is a beautiful young boy. The chattering among the mothers swelled.
Each of the three were being observed at a distance, without their knowledge, by separate people.
After some time, a boy approached the three.
“George-sama, long time no see!”
The only one with whom the three siblings had any interaction was Joshua, the son of a wealthy merchant in Palace County. He was a cute 14-year-old with dark brown hair and eyes and freckles.
Finally, George’s smile returned.
“Long time no see Joshua! I’m glad to finally see a familiar face!”
Even though Joshua cheered George up, from the perspective of other guests, Joshua seemed to be speaking too familiarly.
“Seemed like you’re doing something interesting, so I came by to take a look.”
George responded with a meek face.
“Mother is unstoppable.”
Joshua broke into laughter at George’s answer.
“Joshua-san! Could you please introduce me to the Stuarts?”
A slightly chubby girl spoke up from behind Joshua.
“Oops, that was rude of me.”
Joshua pulled a serious face and started introducing the chubby girl.
“This is Baron Mallet’s daughter, Yuralia-sama. Baron Mallet does some business with my father…”
The girl called Yuralia lifted the hem of her skirt and curtsied slightly as a greeting.
“Joshua…?”
George’s smile stiffened.
“Isn’t she cute? Yuralia-sama! Please consider being George’s fiancée, okay?”
George’s smile twitched at the way Joshua betrayed him in 3 seconds.
“Th-then William-sama…! This is Viscount Garland’s daughter, Caroline-sama!”
He further introduced William to a redhead girl who looked about the same age.
“Joshua…”
William’s face also started to twitch.
A merchant always prioritizes profits. If you expected friendship with Joshua, who had the blood of a wealthy merchant flowing in his veins, you would only end up with a painful experience. The three siblings knew that, but he was their only friend of the same age.
“Emma-sama, shall we talk… Eh? Emma-sama?”
Emma was gone.
Tired of even the short introduction, Emma had wandered off, heading for the desserts lined up on the buffet table, but ended up being surrounded by several guests.
“Miss Emma! I am Chris, the eldest son of Count Monse! You are as lovely as the rumors say!”
“Miss Emma, I am Glen of Marquis Duke’s House. You there! I heard Miss Emma has a quiet personality, are you not frightening her by speaking in such a loud voice?”
They kept going on and on. Emma was being restrained little by little.
———
“Amazing… Emma-nee-sama is so popular.”
“No, no… How could you say that so calmly?! We have to help her quickly!”
Joshua, who suddenly lost his composure, asked the two brothers for help. As expected, Joshua couldn’t offer their own help since they would be going up against a Marquis and a Count.
“Go help, you say… It’s not like she’s in trouble, right? Emma?”
“Nee-sama can handle the conversation well.”
Those two knew that Joshua had a slight crush on Emma for who knows what reason… but in return for his betrayal earlier, they wanted to tease him a bit.
“That, why! Emma-sama doesn’t have normal conversations! She always ignores any non-insect-related topics of conversation!”
Joshua had prepared for his attendance at today’s party by learning a great deal of knowledge about insects.
On the other hand, Emma, who had acquired some common sense since remembering her past life memories, became able to have a normal conversation on topics other than insects.
It was an unexpected miscalculation by Joshua.
George and William laughed their heads off seeing Joshua’s flustered appearance for the first time.
She could talk normally now… but Emma, or rather Minato, was at a loss.
All of them are kids of elementary to middle school age…
Because I’m 35 inside, it feels like I’m babysitting them.
It feels a little weird to see them as my fiancées.
Furthermore, I feel a twinge of unease when William is talking to little girls.
Peita… he liked lolis, is that gonna be okay?
