Chapter 1: Mysterious Live Broadcast Room

? . ?? ? . ? . ?? ? . ?

The rain drizzled down, and the once lively and bustling streets were now sparsely populated.

A fair-skinned young girl, dressed in a floral cotton jacket, stood on the street, holding a red umbrella. Her watery eyes curiously observed the passing pedestrians.

After an uncertain amount of time, she finally gathered the courage and timidly spoke to a passing woman, “Madam, I see that your forehead is dark. Would you like to buy a talisman to ward off evil and bring good luck?”

The woman stopped, instinctively touched her forehead, and upon seeing the gray marks on her fingers, she cursed, “Damn, supposed to be waterproof hairline powder, and I’ve been swindled again.”

After saying that, she covered her forehead, cursed, and quickly walked away.

Lonely and pitiful, Qing Li stood on the street, one hand covering her growling stomach.

If she didn’t earn money for food soon, she would starve to death.

“Little girl, how about finding a job?”

A well-dressed man appeared in front of Qing Li. His face was pale without a hint of color, and his polite smile contained a subtle hint of strangeness, making people uncomfortable.

But Qing Li was in desperate need of money.

She nodded, her voice soft and gentle, “May I ask what kind of job it is?”

“It’s an easy job, as long as you complete some simple tasks, you can receive rich rewards,” the man smiled.

“So simple?” Qing Li tilted her head, with two braids hanging in front of her chest, her innocent and bright eyes clear and simple, yet tinged with a hint of foolishness.

“Of course, here’s my business card. Our company is nearby. If you’re interested, you can come take a look now.”

The man handed Qing Li a white card with black ink printing: Spirit Media Limited Company, Deputy General Manager – He Wen.

“Well, but…”

Qing Li’s stomach growled again at the opportune moment. Her small face blushed and awkwardly said, “I’ve been hungry for days. Could you lend me 200 yuan to have a meal first?”

He Wen smiled, “Of course.”

He took out two red banknotes from his wallet and handed them to Qing Li without hesitation.

Seeing the money, Qing Li’s bright eyes lit up even more. She took the money and gratefully said to the man, “Here comes the little troublemaker.”

He Wen was taken aback, and in just half a second, the simple girl had already taken the money and darted several meters away. In the blink of an eye, she was gone.

“…”

A muttered curse stuck in his throat.

Anyone who said that rural people are kind and easily fooled would get a couple of slaps from him.

Finding a small noodle shop, after finishing 20 bowls of noodle soup, Qing Li spent the 200 yuan completely.

Before going down the mountain, the master had instructed that in their line of work, it’s acceptable to deceive and cheat to some extent, but the ill-gotten gains must be dealt with promptly, or it would affect their merit.

However, the master’s Dao name was— Que De (Lack of Virtue)!

And Qing Li’s Dao name was— Wu De (No Virtue)!

Now, because the master was too unscrupulous, he had many enemies, so he traveled throughout the world to avoid them.

The lonely and helpless Qing Li could only go down the mountain to seek her own way, but she didn’t expect making money to be even more challenging than cultivating.

“Having eaten, I really want to sleep. Should I go to KFC or McDonald’s later?”

Qing Li pinched the white business card between her fingers, rubbing it slightly. The black energy on it disappeared almost completely. With a casual flick, the card accurately landed in the roadside trash can.

The red light counted down second by second, and as the green light came on, Qing Li, with a lazy smile, walked across the crosswalk. People around her were holding umbrellas, walking hastily with increasingly hurried steps.

Sensing something wrong, Qing Li stopped, and she saw the surroundings distorting, the tall buildings, pedestrians on the roadside gradually disappearing…

“Welcome, Player 100.”

The cold mechanical voice echoed from all directions, almost piercing through Qing Li’s eardrums.

[“Is this the newcomer with ID 100?”]

[“It looks so rustic, both ugly and rustic, like a country bumpkin.”]

[“Is ID 100 a fool? Why do I feel like she looks a bit silly?”]

[“Oh my, she’s still wearing a floral cotton-padded jacket. Isn’t this like digging up an antique from some landlady’s grave?”]

There were only a few people in the live broadcast room.

“Congratulations, you got it right.”

Qing Li blushed and smiled shyly. It took her ten seconds to adapt to the current situation. Seeing a screen of light suddenly appearing in her mind with continuously bouncing text, she quickly understood her surroundings.

Surprisingly, the person sending barrage comments had sharp eyes. Indeed, the little cotton-padded jacket she was wearing had been taken from a coffin by her master.

(??: ????)

The master said, “After people die, they rot into a smelly pile of bones. How could such a good-looking little jacket be tarnished?”

So, the stingy master pulled this jacket out of the grave to let her wear it.

As for the barrage of comments, Qing Li didn’t pay attention. At the moment, she calmly surveyed her surroundings without making a sound.

In a space sealed on all sides, there were five unfamiliar faces, both male and female. They were all scrutinizing and examining her with inquisitive gazes.

Dressed as a village girl, Qing Li appeared timid and pitiful, eliciting a disdainful look from some of them.

“Another one here to meet their end,” murmured a round-faced man with a big belly in a low voice.

“Number 89, don’t be so discouraging to the new little sister. Can’t you see she’s almost scared to tears?” Another guy, reasonably handsome but with a rogue-like charm, laughed.

Despite Number 89 being a bit larger in size, he instantly shut his mouth when the other guy spoke.

“Number 65 is right; the new little sister isn’t familiar with the rules yet, so don’t scare her,” said another girl with a delicate appearance as she approached Qing Li. She spoke gently, “Hello, I’m Zhou Ya, you can also call me Number 74.”

She pointed to the electronic watch on her wrist, clearly displaying a number—74.

Qing Li lowered her head to look at her wrist; an identical electronic watch showed the number 100.

100, it was indeed a good number.

“Hello, I’m Qing Li.”

With her head lowered and a voice as soft as a mosquito’s hum, Qing Li timidly said, “I’m Number 100.”

“Don’t be afraid. I know you must have many questions, but the only thing I can tell you is to strive to survive.”

She patted Qing Li’s shoulder and didn’t say much more.

In her opinion, this seemingly useless girl was nothing more than cannon fodder for sacrifice; there was no need to waste words on her.

“Thank you for your advice,” Qing Li said with a simple and grateful smile.

?Fool, someone just fed you useless nonsense, and you’re still foolishly thanking them.?

?Number 74 is a combination of green tea and white lotus, playing both victim and perpetrator.?

?Dear village girl, the higher the ranking here, the stronger the strength. I suggest you cling to the thighs of number 65 first, maybe you can survive.?

Barrage comments were flying rapidly, and Qing Li quickly glanced through them in her mind.

It seemed that the barrage in her live broadcast room was not connected to others; everyone had independent broadcast rooms, and the audience was different.

At this moment, in the originally enclosed space, crimson blood suddenly oozed from a white wall, startling Qing Li, who exclaimed, “Blood!”

So filthy. What if it carries infectious viruses inside?
