Shen Hu gently licked Lisa’s cheek while grimacing as she was about to cry.
“You have a scratch on that precious face.”
“It’s because of me that you…”
She was about to say this when she noticed that the pain she had been feeling on her face had disappeared. Shen Hu smiled satisfactorily, immediately tensed her expression, and glared at the typhoon, which growled lowly.
“It’s just a scratch. I told you to be on guard.”
“Right…”
“Here it comes!”
The typhoon crouched, and the distance between them closed abruptly.
She pulled her magical shotgun to the limit and aimed it at its eyes.
“Let’s see how you like this!”
The typhoon swung its front paws blindly.
The sharp claws, which cut even through the mechas’ armor, chipped the brick walls of the underground canal, and the roof, which had lost its support, collapsed.
“It seems to work a little better. I wonder if it’s so accustomed to darkness that it’s now sensitive to light.”
Taking a careful pause, Lisa loaded magical bullets and fired them at the typhoon’s face in rapid succession.
“Graaaahhh!” With sparks before its eyes, the typhoon stood on its hind legs and angrily lunged at the collapsed debris.
Under the orange sunlight, which was about to set, a large number of human bones were exposed, and Lisa’s face contorted as she and Shen Hu stepped back.
“What are we going to do? Should we end it all at once?”
“I’d like that, but even a single blow from that thing would be fatal, wouldn’t it?”
“Even though we’ve temporarily blinded it, it’s not a good idea to approach recklessly.”
Shen Hu nodded, raised the foxfire, and carefully observed the typhoon’s state.
“With the power of my magical shotgun, it’s impossible to stop it. With my longsword, I’d say it would take five minutes…”
She didn’t think she could win this battle alone, considering the strength of her opponent.
However, if Shen Hu and she combined their forces…
“Don’t have time to waste on idle talk!”
“Shen Hu!”
The typhoon, with both eyes still closed, shot an incendiary bullet, perhaps having discerned their location by their voices.
Lisa, who was quickly shielded by Shen Hu, avoided the fire bullet but fell onto a pile of debris before she had time to recover.
“…Kahaa…” She fell violently backward, exhaling sharply. She didn’t know where she was injured, but the breath she released smelled of blood.
I can’t move… It wasn’t likely that she could figure out immediately where she was hurt.
If the typhoon attacked her now, she wouldn’t be able to avoid it.
“Are you there…?” The sound of the typhoon’s voice echoed, and nearby debris collapsed noisily.
She focused all her nerves and somehow managed to lift the upper part of her body, encouraging herself not to let go of her magical shotgun and longsword even at a time like this.
“Shen…”
“What’s the matter, kitty? Can you only pick fights with cute injured girls? That’s because you’re nothing more than a stray cat and a nuisance.” As if to drown out Lisa’s voice, Shen Hu raised her voice and taunted the typhoon.
“What did you just say…?” The typhoon, which was at a short distance, quickly changed direction at Shen Hu’s provocation.
“I said you’re a poor pitiful kitty. Are you deaf as well?” Shen Hu retorted with a cold voice, then attacked with her foxfire.
“Graaaah!” The typhoon countered the fire with flaming bullets and began to move away from Lisa, perhaps in pursuit of Shen Hu.
“Stay out of the line of fire for a while, mistress!”
Shen Hu’s voice faded, and so did the presence of the typhoon.
Exhaling sharply, Lisa finally got up and closed her eyes, focusing on regulating her breathing.
The physical pain wasn’t as strong as she had imagined, and it was gradually subsiding.
“I wonder if it’s thanks to the ‘meal’…” Calmly, she checked her entire body.
Lisa smiled, feeling Shen Hu’s presence inside her, even though she was far away from her.
If it weren’t for Shen Hu’s “meal”, she wouldn’t even be able to stand like this now.
“That means you saw through everything… no, there’s no way, right?” She murmured and loaded all the ammunition she had into her magical shotgun.
The longsword, illuminated by the red sun that was about to set, fortunately had no nicks.
“Now, let’s resume the battle.” She tightened her grip on the longsword hilt and took a deep breath. “Shen Hu, over here!” She shouted with all her strength, and felt the typhoon’s roar from above, accompanied by Shen Hu’s lively laughter.
“We need to alternate between offense and defense, mistress!”
“Leave it to me!” Lisa took Shen Hu’s place and shot her magical shotgun at the typhoon, pushing it back into the underground canal.
“Don’t get carried away, human!” The typhoon, which had just repelled a lead bullet with its mane, roared ferociously and spat fire like saliva.
“We’ll see about that!” Quickly closing the distance between her and the typhoon, hidden among the debris of the collapsed underground canal, she jumped using the pile of debris.
“What!?”
Catching the typhoon off guard, she thrust her longsword into its injured torso, and it staggered and sank one foot into the canal.
“And I’m not done yet!” Lisa attacked the typhoon, which was at least five times taller than her, while stirring up the sewage and dodging its claws.
The typhoon’s movements began to slow slightly, as if its strength was being drained by Shen Hu’s taunts and Lisa’s swift movements.
“What’s wrong? You’ve stopped attacking.”
She leaned her back against the debris and exhaled over her shoulder while being provoked.
“Hurry up and die!” As the typhoon lunged at her, Lisa moved to the other side of the debris and thrust her longsword into the beast’s hind leg, which was its pivot foot.
“You’re being arrogant!”
Lisa was covered in sewage after being struck by the tail and falling into the underground canal. Lisa, bathed in mud, involuntarily frowned and jumped out of the canal again.
