Villainess Wants To Turn Over A New Leaf - Chapter 501
Song Xiaolan had no shortage of playmates in the palace.
As Lin Feilu opened a royal kindergarten in the palace, the children of civil and military officials of the same age came to the palace to attend classes a few days a week.
Besides obtaining compulsory education as royals, children could play, eat and get to know dignitaries from all walks of life since their childhood. Ordinary people weren’t able to access this school, but many court officials are trying hard to send their children to the Springfield Flower Kindergarten that was founded by the Empress.
As the Crown Prince, Song Xiaolan was the most distinguished child in Springfield Flower Kindergarten.
Every day when the court officials send their children to school, they would instruct the kids in every possible way to be respectful to His Highness the Crown Prince. They were expected to be strict with their actions and words, and to never lose etiquette.
So even though Song Xiaolan had many playmates of the same age, he was always prevented from playing freely because of his status. He didn’t like this at all.
Until his Youngest Uncle showed up!
The Youngest Uncle was never constrained by his title of being the Crown Prince. He was willing to play with him no matter what he did, and sometimes, he would get even more excited than the child himself.
His Youngest Uncle was as kind to him as his Father Emperor and Mother Empress since he could feel the oozing affection for him from the man’s eyes and tone of voice. Song Xiaolan was really smart, so it wasn’t a surprise that he realised Lin Zhanyuan was somewhat different from the other people around him.
He was afraid that his Mother Empress would be sad, so he secretly asked his Father Emperor about it.
Turns out that his Youngest Uncle was poisoned by bad guys when he was a child, so he would never grow up and would always remain a child.
Song Xiaolan thought there was nothing wrong with this.
How great would it be to be a child forever!
During the spring of the second year after Song Xiaolan was established as the Crown Prince, Lin Feilu and Song Jinglan took him to the Qin Mountains.
This was the first time Song Xiaolan had set foot in his Mother Empress’s homeland. Besides, it was also the first time he had been so far away from the palace.
He met the friends who liked playing marbles that his Youngest Uncle had told him about and also visited the ‘zoo’. The countryside structure was no more gorgeous than the palace, but it made him feel as free as a bird flying in the sky.
It was the planting season then as farmers worked at sunrise and rested in the evening every day. Within a few days, the flat and empty farmland was filled with green crops.
The fields were covered with wildflowers that blew in the wind. Song Xiaolan held Lin Feilu’s hand and walked through the criss-crossing paths like a curious baby.
“Mother Empress, what is that?”
“It’s rice— the rice we eat.”
“Then what is this?”
“It’s a pumpkin.”
“Wow, it’s the pumpkin from my favourite pumpkin cake!”
