What's Wrong With Seeking Death? - Chapter 4
After listening to Xiaomi’s explanation, Xu Turan was lost in her thoughts as she excused himself to relax and went upstairs alone, wandering around the hotel. On one hand, she was looking for the ‘7th person’ who wasn’t there, and on the other hand, she was avoiding being questioned by more people about her life-saving methods. After all, she didn’t understand medicine, so if anyone were to ask her about it on a deeper scale, it’s hard to guarantee that she wouldn’t reveal her secrets.
The 2nd and 3rd floors of the homestay were all bedrooms. There were two rooms on each floor, so adding the 1st floor’s rooms, there were a total of 6 bedrooms. The rooms were not locked, so Xu Turan ventured around one by one. Upon seeing that there was no one, she turned back and headed to the lobby on the 1st floor.
Just as she went downstairs, she heard the sound of dice rolling. Xu Turan took a look and was a little surprised, “Why are you guys playing this again?”
There was a large, coloured map spread out on the table— it was the board game box from before. Someone was holding a flashlight to illuminate their own event card, the light dazzlingly bright.
Because of the previous incident, this group of people had become less alienated and less indifferent towards her. Several of the girls actively greeted her and brought her some snacks and drinks, but no one answered her question. Xu Turan felt that something was wrong and asked again, only to see that Gu Xiaoya’s face was a bit dazed.
“Just… Now that we have started playing, we must play until the end,” She said it as if it was a known fact, not feeling anything amiss with her sense of logic at all, “And now that we have nothing to do, we might as well… By the way, do you want some Cola?”
Xu Turan, “…No, there’s no need, thank you.”
The Class Monitor, like Xu Turan, had also lost the qualification for participating in the game because he did not complete the challenge on the ‘event card’. He was found sitting alone in the corner playing with his mobile phone. Xu Turan thought for a while before she walked over and sat beside him, “Are you okay?”
The Class Monitor looked up at her, smiled awkwardly and put away his phone, “I haven’t thanked you just now for saving me.”
“It’s nothing, I just happened to be there,” Xu Turan took out an unopened pack of Skittles from the snack shelf next to him, “How did you explain the situation to them just now?”
“… An epilepsy,” The Class Monitor looked very fragile, “Because… we can’t say it.”
He took a deep look at Xu Turan and said, “What about you? Did you also see… that?”
Xu Turan stretched out two fingers and placed them on his lips. The Class Monitor was stunned for a while before he suddenly realised that his face, which had just reverted to its original colour, was now pale again.
Everything would remain alright if Xu Turan didn’t answer his question. If she answered it, it would mean that he was once again exposing the contents of what he saw. The punishment that he had received just now would have to be redone if that was the case.
The Class Monitor looked at Xu Turan gratefully with fear clearly plastered on his face. Xu Turan smiled and said, “I used to be able to see some impure things ever since I was younger.”
This sentence could be regarded as an answer to the Class Monitor’s doubts as there was no room for him to not believe the facts. He pushed his glasses, looked around nervously and lowered his voice:
“Then do you feel that something is wrong here?”
Xu Turan said “Oh”, and asked knowingly, “What do you mean?”
“The overall atmosphere is weird and depressing,” The Class Monitor said, “And don’t you think it’s getting colder and colder? How is it possible when it’s June?”
Indeed, this was supposed to be a time when the temperatures would be sky high, but at some point, the room was filled with an uncomfortable chill.
“Also, our mobile phones. In such an urgent situation, everyone’s mobile phone had problems— either they couldn’t find it or it was battery-dead. My mobile phone was placed on that table and no one saw it. But just now, when things slowed down and all the problems disappeared, the mobile phones could be used again. That was the strangest thing.”
Xu Turan, “…”
No, the strangest thing is that you were almost sent to your death and your classmates are still in the mood to play the same board game. Yet, you’re here thinking that there’s nothing wrong with that.
Knowing that the hearse she was so painstakingly riding on was already on its way, Xu Turan subtly swallowed the candy in her mouth and twirled the ring on her little finger.
“Speaking of which, who brought this box of board games?”
“I don’t know, it was there when I came. The homestay owner brought it himself, I guess…” the Class Monitor said with uncertainty.
This seemed to make sense. Xu Turan then pursed his lips and sat up.
“Get ready,” Due to the limitations imposed on her as a transmigrater, she couldn’t remind them too clearly, “I have a hunch that this matter will never end. Maybe something might happen later…”
As if it was meant to echo her words and prove a point, within the next moment, another scream came from the side of the table.
