What's Wrong With Seeking Death? - Chapter 6
There was a brief, eerie silence in the room. Immediately afterwards, not knowing who started it, pandemonium broke out amongst the students.
“F*ck, so what’s the situation now? Is this place really haunted?!”
“Don’t panic, don’t panic! The world is materialistic, so there’s no need to be afraid! Don’t run around!”
“Is this a prank? Who did it? Admit it and we won’t hit you.”
“Where’s the owner of the homestay? He should be nearby, right? Call him!”
“Let’s get out of here, I don’t want to stay here-“
Someone rushed to the door and turned the handle a few times, but it still remained motionless. The window, on the other hand, could be opened. However, after pushing it open, there was nothing but a black wall outside. The wall felt like cement paste and it was extremely solid.
Their mobile phones simply crashed and turned into useless electronic bricks, which couldn’t even be opened no matter how hard they tried.
The other rooms of the B&B were still accessible, but they were all empty and the windows were all blocked by the black walls. In each room, there was an extra large metal cabinet of the same style.
Since things have come to this, no matter how unbelievable it was, they knew that there was no deceiving themselves.
Pranks wouldn’t be pulled off to such a degree.
The students gathered in the hall again, their foreheads dripping with cold sweat. The Class Monitor was trying to comfort them when he suddenly heard a banging sound coming from the cabinet. There was another burst of cacophonic screams in the room and everyone crowded together like a bunch of shivering cubs.
“No, but what’s going on? Could this be planned by the owner of the homestay…”
“What owner? This board game was not prepared by the homestay; it was brought by Zhong!”
“Zhong? Zhong Sijia? Really, I don’t remember saying that he was going to come!”
“He came here on his own, I even thought one of you invited him over,” Gu Chenfeng hurriedly said while protecting Gu Xiaoya, “He arrived before you all did, and after sitting for a while, he said that he was going to the hospital to accompany his dad. After he was gone, he left this box of board games behind!”
Gu Chenfeng didn’t think too much about it. Later, when everyone arrived, he merely opened it up and started playing it with his friends. Who would have ever thought that such a thing would happen!
…Wait.
He suddenly turned to the Class Monitor who was pretending to be calm, remembering the other party’s previous ‘epilepsy’ and seemed to understand something, making his expression change a couple of times.
Speaking of which…why did they continue to play that board game just now? Obviously, after someone experienced a medical episode like that, wouldn’t it be normal to consult a doctor about it?
Gu Chenfeng’s mind was a jumbled mess and a voice suddenly sounded in his ear, “Zhong Sijia? Who is it?”
He was startled and turned his head to look over, only to realise that Xu Turan had come to his side at some point.
She didn’t seem too panicked, even looking at the big cabinet with a bit of interest whilst chewing on some Skittles.
Noticing Gu Chenfeng’s surprised gaze, she kindly handed over the bag of candy.
Gu Chenfeng, “…”
He shook his head, calmed down for a few seconds before replying, “The, uh, the one in junior high school with pretty bad grades. He went to work in other places after finishing the high school entrance examination. He just came back a few days ago…”
After finishing speaking, he felt that it was strange again.
They were all in the same class in junior high school and high school. The only two that were the exceptions to that were Xu Turan and Zhong Sijia. Xu Turan transferred to another school after finishing the 2nd year of junior high, studying her 3rd year in a different school; on the other hand, Zhong Sijia left only after graduating from junior high school.
Xu Turan should at least be able to recognise Zhong Sijia. They spent two years in the same class…
Seeming to see the confusion on his face, Xu Turan smiled again, “Sorry, it’s been too long, I kind of forgot.”
Gu Chenfeng, “…”
He still found it strange, but now was obviously not the time to think about it. The sounds of banging came from the cabinet continuously, as if someone was slamming the door from inside, which made everyone’s hearts stop again. At this moment, the brave Sports Committee stepped forward again.
“No, we can’t just let things stay like this!”
He looked around, dragged two chairs against the cabinet door, turned his head and said, “Let’s not all squeeze together! Let’s all split up and find a place to hide. If we hide for 3 minutes, maybe everything will be fine…”
