[Vol. 3] Chapter 5: Revelator’s Warning
After bidding farewell to Lilya, the group boarded the carriage. Miss Edwina personally drove the unicorn beast, leading the delegation and the accompanying army away from the Courage City.
Just as they left the city gates and hadn’t traveled far on the official road, Violet was considering the long journey and planning to pitch some interesting card and board games to the girls in the carriage when suddenly, there came an urgent shout from soldiers outside, along with the sound of Edwina unsheathing her sword.
The carriage came to an abrupt halt.
“Who goes there? Get down!”
The girls looked at each other, and Leila, sitting on the outermost side, was the first to lift the curtain and look outside.
Soon, she pulled back.
“Lady Violet, there’s a woman with strange wings flying near the carriage frame. It seems her target is us, but she hasn’t attacked.”
“A woman with wings?”
Leila herself was a winged person. Since she described them as strange, they must not be the ordinary feathered wings. Violet wondered if she knew anyone with wings…
The priestess sensibly jumped down from the carriage, and at a glance, she saw a young lady with dark blue long hair floating about ten meters above the ground. The woman, with an elegant and cool demeanor, unfolded standard dragon wings behind her, each side measuring at least ten meters. It was indeed impressive, and it’s no wonder the soldiers were so tense.
Although the woman didn’t emit any hostility or pressure.
“Is it her?”
The little dragon girl who ran out together exclaimed in surprise, and her originally eager fighting spirit quickly waned.
This person, she knew both Violet and Edwina.
“Reb… Alexia, do you have something to discuss with me?”
Raising her hand to signal that Edwina, who had already picked up her cross sword shield and was on guard against the other party, didn’t need to be nervous, Violet, and the kingdom soldiers who had gathered around also stopped their actions of drawing bows and arrows, looking puzzled.
Many of these soldiers who came down from the western frontier battlefield had witnessed Violet’s strength and naturally held great respect for her. Since this person was someone the Lady knew, it must be a misunderstanding.
However, Edwina was not relaxed because of this. On the contrary, she positioned herself in front of the priestess, whispered a warning in a volume only they could hear.
“Lady Violet, this woman is a strong member of the ‘Eternal Throne,’ with at least transcendent-level strength. Moreover, she arrogantly called you by name! Earlier, it was her who captured me and brought me to their stronghold!”
“Hmm?”
When did Edwina have a confrontation with Rebecca?
Since Violet already understood the previous situation of the Twin Dragon Princess, she naturally knew she wouldn’t easily fight with anyone, let alone capture someone and take them to a stronghold. Thinking about some related information, the priestess probably understood what was going on but didn’t notice the subtle discord in Edwina’s words just now.
Now was not the time to ask slowly.
“It’s okay. With me here, Alexia won’t cause any trouble. Besides, after my guidance, she has sincerely repented of her past mistakes.”
“What? Really!?”
Miss Holy Knight turned her gaze in shock, but soon nodded as if it were a matter of course.
“Miss Violet truly lives up to her reputation. I understand.”
Although Edwina seemed to be muttering something about “forgiveness,” “greatness,” and “benevolence,” this person’s thought process had always been a bit abnormal. Violet decided to pretend she hadn’t heard anything.
“Miss Violet, is this woman your friend?”
Felina, the head of the delegation who also rushed over upon hearing the news, lowered her partially drawn matching sword, looking slightly puzzled at the black-haired girl.
“If you insist on calling her a friend… well, well, don’t rush to draw your sword again! She probably isn’t our enemy. Let’s try to communicate first, okay?”
After hesitating for a moment, Felina, dressed in military attire and sitting on horseback, nodded.
“Since Miss Violet says so, we’ll temporarily overlook her offense against the ceremonial team. Foreign race… well, never mind, please go about your business.”
While speaking, Rebecca, transformed into her ?Twin Dragon Princess? form, descended from the sky. She looked at the black-haired girl with a somewhat complex expression.
“Miss Violet, can we have a chat inside the carriage?”
“Hmm? Sure, come in.”
After a nod of acknowledgment, the priestess returned to the carriage first.
Violet understood that the identity of Rebecca herself and her collaborator, Princess Menna, was a secret that couldn’t be casually revealed. So, the request seemed quite reasonable.
In no time, the other girls also returned to the carriage, even the Miss Holy Knight, who was supposed to stay outside, still uneasy, followed and squeezed in.
Rebecca, of course, noticed Edwina, but she didn’t pay much attention. Instead, she kept her head down, sitting on the side, discreetly observing the priestess who was already comfortably leaning against the soft chair.
“Speak, what’s the matter?”
“The people here…”
Rebecca glanced at the two white-haired winged girls and the Holy Knight, showing a bit of hesitation.
“Is it a very important secret?”
“Not really…”
“Then just say it. They are all allies.”
Since Violet assured her, and Rebecca was not a hesitant girl, she nodded.
“Menna asked me to tell you that she saw a terrible scene in the Revelation. She wants you to be extremely careful and vigilant on this journey.”
“A terrible scene?”
The priestess frowned.
It’s not that she harbored fear or dread for the unknown horrors of the so-called future. The main issue was that Rebecca’s words were too vague. With just these five simple words, even if Violet wanted to take precautions, there was no way to start.
Menna’s Revelation, or her predictions about the future, indeed had some degree of reference value. Although the young princess had explicitly stated that she couldn’t see the future of Violet, a special existence, the series of events that had occurred in the capital had fully proven her ability.
Since Rebecca was specifically sent to deliver this message, it indicated that the situation was likely quite serious. Perhaps it wasn’t only the delegation itself, but also the Human United Kingdoms of the West and even the entire world that would be affected.
“Is there no more specific information?”
At these words, Rebecca pondered for a moment and then said thoughtfully.
“I’m not very clear on the details, but early this morning when I went to see Menna, I found her alone, collapsed on the floor by the bed. I quickly helped her up. In her half-awake state, she intermittently urged me to hurry and find you, saying something about the source of a disaster being in the south… or something like that.”
The source of a disaster, a terrible scene…
Wait a moment, could it be that Menna’s prophecy is related to the monsters coming out of the Abyss and their subsequent changes? After all, from Violet’s current perspective, the only unknown entities that could potentially bring disaster are those.
Moreover, Violet still hadn’t fully understood Menna’s prophetic ability in the Revelation. Even if the young princess wanted to explain it properly, that kind of feeling was challenging to describe in words.
It seemed like a kind of future vision, as if watching a movie, yet not experiencing the entire future personally. It was like dreaming, with a vague sensation as if veiled by a layer, making it all unclear.
That’s why Menna referred to it as the “Revelation.”
Just like this time, even though there was no mention of any disaster or terrible scenes in the past month, Menna suddenly urgently sent Rebecca to deliver this message just as Violet was about to head south.
“By the way, is Menna okay?”
“Yeah, she’s fine. It was just a severe shock that caused her to faint. Menna has seen some allegedly terrifying futures before, so this isn’t the first time. It’s just that this time was particularly severe. She should recover after resting for a few days.”
“I see… well, as long as she’s okay.”
Although the priestess wasn’t afraid of any disasters, since it was information specially sent by Menna, it was better to be cautious.
“I will pay attention to such matters. Thank you for making the trip, Miss Alexia.”
“It’s nothing. Since the message has been delivered, I’ll go back now. Oh, and about that…”
“Hmm?”
Standing up from her seat, the blue-haired ?Twin Dragon Princess? took a couple of steps towards the exit. Suddenly, she turned back, blushing and seeming a bit shy as she spoke in a low voice.
“Just call me Rebecca. There’s no need for unnecessary concealment. Also, thank you for helping without holding a grudge. I will always remember this great kindness. If there’s anything I can do for you, please feel free to find me. Miss Violet knows where to locate me.”
After another bow, Rebecca quickly opened the carriage curtain as if fleeing, spread her dragon wings, and soared high into the sky.
“Hehe, my master is really wicked.”
Beside her, came a teasing remark from the other dragon girl, a statement only Violet could hear.
“?”
