[Vol. 6] Chapter 135: The Trace-less Place
Infiltrating the tomb was actually quite simple.
Although the [Black Scaled Army]’s guards were exceptionally tight, to the point that even a fly would find it hard to pass through, for the priestess, who was full of tricks… *ahem*, clever methods, it didn’t really pose much of a challenge.
Because she couldn’t trust the outdated [Chameleon Cloak], Violet took a moment to think and decided to take advantage of a time when she was alone. She used the [Simulated Kabbalah Tree of Life] to transform into an equipment she had seen in a game before. A Semi-Divine Artifact called the [Trace-less Place].
This was a peculiar piece of equipment specialized for infiltration and assassination. As a Semi-Divine Artifact, its function was, of course, not just basic invisibility.
It had the ability to temporarily hide the *existence* of the wearer, meaning no one could recognize or even think of them. Even if someone wearing the [Trace-less Place] punched another person, the person would just think they accidentally bumped into a pillar. It was that absurd.
Violet remembered this piece of equipment from an early game dungeon. At the time, her team had thought the special effects from the boss fight would randomly make players lose health or even die. After many failed attempts, they finally figured out what was happening and defeated the boss.
However, the [Trace-less Place] wasn’t something that could be dropped as loot. After clearing the one-time dungeon, it had never appeared in the game again. If she hadn’t recently gotten involved with events related to *existence*, Violet might have completely forgotten about this strange item.
Sure enough, after covering herself and her group with it, their existence became completely unrecognizable to others. Even if they walked openly right in front of the [Black Scaled Army], they would simply be ignored.
In this way, the four of them easily bypassed multiple layers of security and successfully entered the tomb.
The space, called the ancient tomb, was an ancient ruin built into the side of a mountain at the edge of a basin.
From the surrounding marks, it seemed that this place had originally been hidden within the small mountains at the edge of the [Wangxi Basin]. Environmental changes or the passage of time had caused some of the entrance to collapse, exposing the internal space.
Perhaps it was because they had learned about the discoveries in the ancient tomb that the [Black Scaled Army], which served as the main military force under the [Ink Sect], had come to seal the area and send personnel inside to investigate.
As they crossed the threshold and entered the tomb, the scene quickly unfolded before Violet and the others.
It was an ancient stone path leading deeper into the tomb. The path was about three meters wide, with torches fixed at regular intervals along both sides, their flames burning steadily. While the light wasn’t particularly bright, it added a sense of life to this ancient place, which had probably not seen a human footstep for over a thousand years.
Clearly, this was the work of the [Black Scaled Army]. It was hard to tell how far their advance team had explored.
Earlier, the fake General Cheng had mentioned in conversation with his subordinates that the [Black Scaled Army]’s general would return within three to ten days, but since that guy was an impostor, the reliability of that statement was questionable.
After traveling about a hundred meters into the tomb, and with the sounds of the outside world fading away, Violet deactivated the [Trace-less Place] effect, releasing the four of them from their concealed state.
“Should be safe from here. See? I told you it would be foolproof,” Violet said with a smile.
“Miss Violet’s abilities are truly impressive… I admire you,” Murong Yun replied.
From his perspective, the invisible, almost mist-like [Trace-less Place] seemed to be a power Violet possessed herself. With just a wave of her hand, she had shielded them from the watchful eyes of the [Black Scaled Army].
In other words, he probably didn’t trust external objects and instead focused more on the power of the practitioner themselves.
Although it sounded a little amusing, it made sense from his limited perspective as a mortal at the Seeking Immortal realm. Violet didn’t bother explaining further, simply nodding and letting the topic pass.
“Now we need to explore the interior of this tomb. We know nothing about it, so anything could happen. Don’t touch anything carelessly, and stay alert,” she advised.
Suddenly, Xiao Kong, who had been scanning the surroundings, spoke up.
“Violet, the space here is sealed. The method is very clever. Unless we use something really powerful, I’m afraid I won’t be able to move us freely like before. You need to be prepared for that.”
“Space seal…”
Violet murmured, her gaze shifting to the three paths that lay before them in the tomb. It was clear now, this place was far more mysterious than they had initially thought.
It may sound a bit strange, but inside this seemingly ordinary tomb, there exists some kind of invisible suppression similar to the power of a “divine realm”. Violet found that her SP scan seemed to dissipate naturally after spreading only a short distance within the tomb.
If they wanted to conduct a proper investigation, they would likely have to enter the “divine realm” and forcefully break the seal here. However, even if someone could manage such a feat, which was already a rare ability, doing so would likely cause the tomb to collapse completely, burying everything inside and destroying it all.
This was the first time Violet encountered such a cleverly applied force since mastering the use of SP after her crossing into this world.
Adding to this, Xiao Kong’s words made her think further…
This tomb was likely constructed by some deity from the [Ancient Spirit Realm], or by a being of god-level power, who left behind a portion of their energy. The energy was limited but applied perfectly, like the difference between smashing a Rubik’s Cube with brute force and attempting to solve it with the same method.
Clearly, the creator of this place did not want later visitors to easily scan the tomb with divine thoughts, bypassing the effort to explore the tomb’s interior, and instead wanted them to investigate it firsthand.
The creator’s skills in spiritual power and mental manipulation seemed to surpass even that of the former Goddess of Earth, Sethlin. The being who constructed this tomb was likely a deity deeply specialized in these techniques, their depths unfathomable.
“Interesting… Hen, what do you think?” Violet asked, though she didn’t directly respond to the question herself.
The silver-haired girl pondered briefly, her eyes, which seemed to contain profound secrets, slowly swept across the dimly lit tomb surroundings. She pointed out what seemed to be the most important issue at hand.
“Violet, this is a tomb built as a seal, which is why it requires this kind of suppression to hold whatever is inside. Don’t be impulsive.”
She raised her arm and without hesitation, pointed to the center of one of the three paths ahead.
“Follow me, this way.”
