[Vol. 6] Chapter 166: The Summoned Entity
Unknowable. Unperceivable. Unspeakable.
“The source of destruction… how truly mysterious.”
The entity that destroyed the world of [Ryznes], whose true name had been deliberately obscured, could not possibly be the Goddess of Earth, Seth.
Sethlin had once told Violet clearly that apart from the “Origin Realm”, Seth had only ever descended as an incarnation to a world called “Aibus”. There was no way she would have sent god-beasts to invade and destroy a completely unrelated realm.
Even as the Goddess of Withering, Seth would never have done such a thing. She disregarded life but was not bloodthirsty. Every act of destruction she carried out had purpose and meaning.
It should not be forgotten that Seth was a God of Order. Although with a standard of order quite different from that of ordinary beings.
Judging by the sequence of events, the destruction of the world named [Ryznes] likely occurred during the period when the Goddess of Earth was sealed but before the [Divine Catastrophe] had yet to begin.
Unfortunately, the journal offered no detailed account of the origin of the “[Beast of Destruction].” It merely mentioned that they were brought forth when the [Harlent Empire] opened a dimensional rift. This vague explanation offered little practical value.
…Oh well.
There were still many unanswered questions. Why the remnants of the world of [Ryznes] appeared in the [Endless Wasteland Sea] as a ruin, or which god had destroyed it and whether it had any real connection to the so-called [Beast of Destruction]. But these weren’t mysteries she could solve by simply pondering.
Better to focus on finishing her task and leaving this ruin quickly. She didn’t want to keep Xiao Kong and the others waiting for too long.
Without further hesitation, Violet pulled out the [Eternal Scepter of the World’s Heart] and gently placed its tip on the surface of the crystal referred to as the [Key to Summoning the God], which had been stored alongside the journal.
She activated her skill.
She had expected the process to go as usual, with the [Information Detection] skill quickly returning relevant details. However, before the skill could fully activate, Violet suddenly felt a momentary disorientation. It was as if her perspective had been pulled through some medium, crossing vast distances in an instant to arrive at a faraway place.
“…Huh?”
She caught a fleeting glimpse of a middle-aged human man, dressed in a white research coat embroidered with a golden-red flame on the chest. He stood at the very pinnacle of the [Tower of Babel], holding a crystal in his hands and muttering something under his breath.
The crystal seemed to respond, glowing as if drawn by some unseen force. Suddenly, it shot upward, transforming into a beam of light that rushed directly toward Violet’s field of vision.
Crack!
A burst of chaotic static sliced through her perception. In the next instant, she saw a far grander and more majestic beam erupting from the summit of the [Tower of Babel], far surpassing the [Doomsday Bombardment] cannon in scale. Yet, as it ascended into the vast void above, it vanished as if swallowed by the shadows blotting out the sky.
Bang!
The scene shifted again. The tower, now engulfed in shadow, collapsed like a fragile stack of blocks pushed over by a colossal hand. It crashed to the ground with a deafening roar, scattering ant-like figures that were swiftly crushed and buried under the rubble. Below, countless grotesque creatures swarmed like a tide, consuming the remnants of the once-great tower.
Her perspective drifted, and finally, above the ruins of the [Tower of Babel], Violet saw a pair of immense, cold, and otherworldly eyes.
She focused all her attention, trying to discern the being’s features. However…
Crack!
The vision shattered, leaving her back at the decayed base of the ruined tower.
“Damn it!”
Frustrated at being interrupted at such a crucial moment, Violet nearly slammed her fist on the ancient desk, risking damaging this relic of history from a thousand years ago.
Letting out a resigned sigh to calm herself, she quickly pieced together the reason for the visions she had just experienced.
The [Key to Summoning the God]… being called the ultimate creation of an entire world wasn’t just an exaggeration.
Its principles likely involved causality and the rules of time and space. Concepts that only gods could fully master.
Just now, Violet had likely used the key as a medium to receive echoes of the original “summoning” from over a thousand years ago.
It was similar to when the Demon God Olivia descended through Novia Moon Shadow as a medium a millennium after her death. Perhaps Violet’s own curiosity about the past or some other unique reason had caused her, as someone who also bore [Divinity], to overlap momentarily with that fragment of history when she touched the [Key to Summoning the God].
That seemed to be the case.
But unfortunately, the key had already been heavily damaged during its original use to summon the unknown god. After a thousand years of decay, combined with its recent role in bridging a divine will across time and space, the outcome was inevitable.
Looking down at the shattered fragments in the wooden box, Violet sighed again.
She had been so close to uncovering the true identity of the one who destroyed the world named [Ryznes]. From how Starlight used the [Beast of Destruction] to summon this being, there might have been a significant connection between this entity, the mutations of the beasts, and even the fracturing of the Goddess of Earth herself.
Yet, it seemed as though a hidden force was actively preventing any living being from fully understanding or approaching this god. In truth, Violet still didn’t know its name, nor what powers and laws it commanded.
The reasons for this remained a mystery she would have to investigate further.
“Sorry… it wasn’t my intention, but I ended up breaking what you all tried so hard to preserve. I don’t think it can be repaired… If I get the chance, I’ll teach the one who destroyed your world a lesson. Maybe. Hopefully.”
Although things had gone relatively smoothly so far, Violet couldn’t guarantee she could defeat this unknown god. After all, it might be the very entity responsible for driving all the gods out of this world. A truly terrifying being.
But worrying about that now wouldn’t help.
Stowing the wooden box containing the shattered key fragments and the journal in her backpack, Violet gave a small nod of respect to the skeleton seated in the chair. As she prepared to leave, the surrounding space began to ripple like gentle waves, signaling her departure.
It seemed that, without realizing it, she had fulfilled all the requirements to leave the ruin.
Violet closed her eyes, listening to the sound of ocean waves gradually rising in her ears. When the stillness returned…
She was back in the peculiar field of blood-red flowers in full bloom.
“Violet? You’re back!”
“Meow~”
Her sudden reappearance immediately caught the attention of the team members left behind. Xiao Kong, who had been anxiously waiting, rushed over. Seeing that the black-haired girl was unharmed, she finally let out a small sigh of relief.
By her feet, the white cat, Miaomiao, who had been idly grooming its fur, meowed a few times as if to greet Violet.
Even Hen, typically stoic and expressionless, allowed the faintest smile to curl her lips upon seeing Violet return safely.
“Looks like you had quite the harvest. You picked an interesting place to explore,” Hen remarked.
Violet nodded with a small smile of her own but didn’t immediately explain much.
“Not bad. How long was I gone?”
“The time flow in ruins varies, but in the outside world, we waited about half a day.”
“Half a day? Hmm, still within acceptable limits… Hey, speaking of which, where’s Murong Yun?”
Violet glanced around.
She had noticed right away that only Hen, Xiao Kong, and the cat were waiting for her. The middle-aged man in white, who was most familiar with this place and was supposed to guide them to the [Heaven-Opening Sect] ruins, was nowhere to be found.
But knowing Murong Yun, Violet was certain he wouldn’t leave on his own without reason. Unless…
“…Did something happen?”
Hen paused for a moment, then nodded slightly.
“Calling it ‘an incident’ wouldn’t be entirely wrong.”
Xiao Kong, now holding the white cat in her arms, walked over and continued what Hen was saying.
“Violet, the [Heaven-Opening Sect] ruins we originally planned to visit suddenly became extremely active not long ago. It’s caused such a stir that most people in the [Endless Wasteland Sea] have likely been drawn to it by now.”
“This time… things are going to get very interesting.”
