[Vol. 6] Chapter 185: The Sect Master of [Shocking God Sect]
Seeing the Saint’s expression grow darker by the second, the elderly Sect Master of [Ink Sect], Wen Zhengyang’s direct superior, quickly stepped in to diffuse the tension, as though he had anticipated the situation.
“Your Holiness, please calm your anger, calm your anger. Our Commander Wen is a straightforward man, a soldier through and through, not exactly skilled in words. Once he sets his mind on something, not even emissaries from Immortal Island could sway him.”
“But I can assure you, Your Holiness, his loyalty to Eastern Kingdom is beyond question. He is a rare gem of a loyal subject, worth his weight in gold. If Commander Wen refuses to divulge information, even under questioning, then he must have an unspeakable reason.”
“Your Holiness is surely aware that the [Ancient Spirit Realm] is in turmoil, with all sides stirring and scheming. This matter involves none other than the long-missing [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden], ruler of Immortal Island. Perhaps…”
Other leaders of the [Five Great Sects] quickly joined in to offer their support.
“Yes, Your Holiness, this situation is unusual and needs careful consideration.”
“Exactly. With the [Four Saints’ Immortal Selection Ceremony] approaching, and powerful figures from all sides gathering in the capital, how can we afford to execute one of the Eastern Kingdom’s key commanders at such a critical moment? Please, Your Holiness, reconsider.”
Perhaps these words had some effect, or perhaps the Saint had only intended to reprimand Wen Zhengyang without truly intending to harm him. After a moment of silence, the shadowy figure of the Saint slowly sat back down. With a wave of his hand, the guards who had stormed into the hall retreated and closed the main doors behind them.
The Saint’s piercing gaze fell once more on the black-armored commander below.
“Wen Zhengyang, let me ask you differently. Is your inability to speak related to the [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden]?”
“…Yes.”
“Very well. Then can I assume that this girl named Violet also has a close connection to the [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden]?”
This time, Wen Zhengyang chose silence.
But sometimes, silence speaks louder than words.
“I see…”
The Saint sighed, muttering to himself. He seemed to be lost in thought for a long time, deliberating over something unknown.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he appeared to come to a decision, his demeanor calming once more.
“Fine. Since you’re so resolute, I won’t press you further,” the Saint said, his tone calm but firm. “But remember, this is [Eastern Origin Mysterious Kingdom], and the [Eastern Origin Holy Sect] is the true master of these lands. I won’t tolerate a similar incident a second time. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Your Holiness. Thank you for your understanding and mercy.”
“Hmm… You’ve had a long and difficult journey, Commander Wen. Go and rest now.”
“I will take my leave.”
Wen Zhengyang wiped a nearly imperceptible bead of sweat from his brow as he turned and left.
With the departure of the central figure, this meeting, convened specifically to “interrogate” him, naturally came to an end. The five sect leaders who had been seated as observers rose one after another to take their leave. The Saint made no effort to stop them and watched as the group gradually exited the hall.
“Hmph… Cunning old fox. You’re still protecting your own people,” the Saint muttered with a faint sneer. “Did you really think I’d have him executed?”
With a dismissive scoff, the Saint stood and approached a wall behind the throne. He turned a display item on the shelf three times, triggering a faint mechanical sound. A concealed door in the corner quietly slid open.
The Saint stepped inside, and the door closed automatically behind him, revealing a meticulously decorated secret chamber. Inside, someone was already waiting, having apparently watched the earlier interrogation in its entirety.
It was none other than Mu Ze, the sect leader from [Shocking God Sect], a figure renowned for reaching the [Eternal Life] realm.
The Saint seated himself across from Mu Ze, casually pouring a cup of tea and drinking it in one gulp to quench his thirst. Then, in the casual tone of an old friend, he initiated the conversation.
“What do you think of those people just now?”
Mu Ze nodded slightly. “They’re consistent with what those kids have described.”
“And that Violet. She’s connected to the [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden], isn’t she?”
Mu Ze didn’t rush to confirm this outright. Instead, he paused in thought and then speculated carefully.
“I can’t say for certain. But Miss Violet is indeed very mysterious. Although she has rarely taken action against enemies in front of us, the mere glimpse of her abilities that we’ve seen is already far beyond my reach.”
“Her true level of cultivation is likely at least two major realms above mine.”
The Saint frowned deeply.
“[Ultimate Transformation]? Or even [Hidden Immortal]? That’s impossible,” the Saint muttered. “Even for Spirit Veil Immortal Island, producing someone of such a level would be almost unthinkable…”
Mu Ze shook his head. “Your Holiness, neither you nor I truly know the full extent of Immortal Island’s power. But honestly, I would rather believe that Violet is connected to Spirit Veil Immortal Island or the [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden]. If she isn’t, the situation in the [Ancient Spirit Realm] could become even more dire. Furthermore, the pendant she carries, a legendary item said to belong exclusively to the [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden], is something you’ve personally verified through ancient texts. Such a treasure could never be in the hands of an ordinary person.”
The Saint, appearing to trust Mu Ze’s judgment, nodded in agreement and continued questioning.
“Then, in your opinion, what about the tomb at [Wangxi Basin]?”
“Since Miss Violet specifically advised us not to disturb it, I think it’s best we follow her suggestion. The power within that tomb is truly terrifying. I could not even think to resist it.”
He sighed softly before continuing.
“Your Holiness, to speak frankly, ordinary people might believe that reaching the [Eternal Life] realm is akin to ascending to immortality, a pinnacle where one becomes invincible. But only those of us who have reached this level understand that it’s merely the beginning of the path of cultivation. This gives us a clearer understanding of how frightening those truly mysterious powers are.”
“Ultimately, we are mortals,” Mu Ze said with a hint of resignation. “Even at the peak of our abilities, it’s best not to meddle with forces far beyond the mortal realm. It would be wiser to follow Immortal Island’s guidance. After all, if even the ancient legacies from a thousand years ago could be destroyed in an instant, what chance does a nation like ours, with only a millennium of history, stand?”
The Saint frowned, visibly struggling with the advice. There was a trace of unwillingness in his expression.
“You make a fair point, but do you think Eastern Kingdom will simply obey the commands of a young girl? Will they follow her directions without question? Even if she is connected to the [Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden], she isn’t the shrine maiden herself. If word spreads, wouldn’t the other three nations, or even the whole world, ridicule us for being weak and subservient?”
Understanding the Saint’s concerns as a ruler, Mu Ze remained patient and continued to persuade him.
“Your Holiness, I’m not suggesting we blindly follow Miss Violet’s orders. Of course, we must act according to our own plans. However, in this particular matter, following her advice is the most rational and effective choice. If our goals align, it’s called cooperation, not submission. Cooperation doesn’t imply hierarchy.”
“Everything we do should serve the greater good and the future of the [Ancient Spirit Realm]. I understand that you’re determined to lead the Eastern Kingdom toward true independence, free from the influence of Immortal Island. Your efforts to strengthen and reform our nation are admirable. But the truth remains: we do not yet have the power to achieve that autonomy.
“While Immortal Island’s presence may feel like a constraint, it also provides protection. It safeguards the [Ancient Spirit Realm] and shelters countless lives under its care. For now, working with them is in everyone’s best interest.”
“Now that the four nations are united, pooling their strength to navigate this Great Era, it’s a time that demands unity and cooperation. If the [Ancient Spirit Realm] fractures, everything we’ve worked for will lose its meaning. I hope Your Holiness carefully considers the broader implications and avoids acting impulsively.”
“Sigh…”
The Saint shook his head, clearly resigned. He nodded after a moment of contemplation.
“You’re right. Balancing the light and the heavy… I understand. Let’s handle this matter as you suggest. However, I still find Violet’s identity suspicious. If she’s truly as powerful as you say, it’s impossible for someone like her to remain entirely unknown on Spirit Veil Immortal Island. How have we never heard of her before?”
Rubbing his chin, the Saint seemed to be speaking more to himself.
“With the [Four Saints’ Immortal Selection Ceremony] just around the corner, she’s bound to participate. This will be an excellent opportunity to investigate her identity and determine the true purpose behind her actions. We need to ensure there are no hidden dangers. But approaching her carelessly could be risky…”
Seeing the Saint’s troubled expression, Mu Ze suddenly smiled and spoke up.
“I’ve already considered this issue and happen to have a potential source of information. Do you remember, Your Holiness, something I mentioned earlier?”
“Oh, you’re referring to… that group of new disciples from [Shocking God Sect]? I recall one of them seemed to have some knowledge about Violet’s background. Wasn’t her name Yanzi? Likely an alias, no?”
The [Shocking God Sect] leader nodded slightly.
“That young woman is quite remarkable. She may also have ties to Spirit Veil Immortal Island, but she’s not fully aligned with them. I’ve already spoken to her privately and secured her cooperation. If handled properly, she could provide us with critical intelligence.”
“Is that so? Where is she now?”
“She’s waiting in the rear hall to meet his Holiness, along with the other disciples who’ve recently returned from their training missions.”
Exhaling deeply, the Saint’s perpetually furrowed brow finally relaxed into a faint smile.
“Thanks to you, we have a timely solution to this pressing issue. Good. I’ve been so consumed by state affairs lately that I haven’t had the chance to meet the new disciples of [Shocking God Sect]. As a founder, it’s about time I make an appearance.”

For the next chapter and onwards, I will be uploading on another website. There are too many issues here. and I don’t have access to fix that.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but I will still be updating daily.
