Violet seemed to understand why Ling Feng had asked her to use [Radiance of the Holy Light]  at a critical moment.

It wasn’t that she was expected to use this light-based magic to suppress or dispel something on Yazi, but rather that it was intended for Ling Feng herself.

[Radiance of the Holy Light] was a purification spell, but in essence, it belonged to the Holy Light element. The reason it was so bright was because it massively increased the concentration of light elements within its radius, a characteristic common to high-level Holy Light magic.

But Ling Feng didn’t realize this. What she knew was that Violet’s most powerful ability was [Radiance of the Holy Light]. After using a transformation-like ability, the sun and fire attributes she manifested were very close to Holy Light, almost as if they shared a common origin.

Hearing the sudden change in tone from the priestess’s warning, though Ling Feng didn’t fully understand it, her trust in Violet and the instinctive feeling from her bloodline made her hesitate for no more than a moment before swiftly moving to the side, avoiding the danger!

As her body left the formation beneath her feet, losing the power she had been supplying to it, the recently lit-up magic array immediately dimmed.

However, this was not the wrong choice.

Because in the next instant, dark cracks quietly appeared where she had just been standing, around her chest area.

It was a terrifying assassination strike that shattered even space itself, a trace-less, invisible, and undetectable. Even before it was fully launched, the priestess had only sensed something odd without being able to pinpoint the true source of this strange feeling.

Fortunately, Violet’s skill was superior, and she had detected the enemy’s movements in advance.

The light spear pierced the void, crashing heavily into the wall of the crystal palace, embedding itself deep into it. The strange sensation that Violet had detected instantly vanished.

Even Bai’er, who was seasoned from countless battles, only reacted after the sudden assassination attempt. As the light spear passed by, she quickly slashed her sword into the air where the crack had been.

But unfortunately, as expected, there was nothing in the air where the crack had been. Bai’er’s sword only cut through the void, not touching anything.

She didn’t linger in battle or waste time searching for the assassin, instead hurriedly stepping forward to support the girl, whose magic had been interrupted. She kept her vigilance, observing the surroundings, and anxiously asked.

“My lady, are you alright?!”

The transformation from activating the bloodline had quickly faded with the sudden interruption, the scales reverted to smooth white skin, the spiral horn on her head shrank inward, and the fiery blaze gradually diminished.

Waving her hand, Ling Feng barely suppressed the urge to spit out blood as she turned to look at the black-haired girl who was quickly walking toward them.

“I’m fine… Thanks to Violet’s warning, otherwise, things would have been difficult to handle. I didn’t expect that the minions of the [Seven Heavenly Demon Lords] were lurking here. No wonder the situation escalated to this extent…”

“[Seven Heavenly Demon Lords]?”

The priestess looked around, intrigued by the familiar-sounding title.

The strange energy that had vaguely enveloped the crystal palace had completely dissipated after the assassination attempt failed. Violet wasn’t sure if her counterattack had injured the enemy, as they had vanished too quickly.

This was far more refined than the typical assassin, like Prakaka.

Unfortunately, Violet didn’t have the luxury of time to play cat-and-mouse games with the opponent.

“Hmm, that should be [Sky Wanderer] from the [Seven Heavenly Demon Lords]’s faction. One of the most mysterious and terrifying beings among those monsters. Just now, I sensed its presence. Only it could use hidden subspace to lurk and move swiftly, making it hard for me to anticipate the attack… truly an opportune moment.”

Ling Feng straightened up, lightly patting the shoulder of the short-haired girl beside her, and did not pursue the topic further.

“Alright, Bai’er, no need to worry. [Sky Wanderer] has one rule, although the reason is unclear. After failing a kill, it won’t strike the same target again in a short period of time. It’s probably already gone and won’t show up again for now.”

“Dammit… that bastard got away.”

Following her gaze, the three women refocused their attention on the central seal where the creature, Yazi, was held.

Although they had avoided the sudden attack thanks to Violet’s warning, it was clear that the assassination from [Sky Wanderer], the [Seven Heavenly Demon Lords], had still forcibly interrupted Ling Feng’s ritual to reinforce the seal. Given her current state, it was unlikely she would be able to resume the ceremony.

Having watched for a while, Violet had mostly figured it out. The seven sealing pillars likely corresponded to the anchor points of space they had seen in the [Tidal Deep Valley], and the [Yokai-Suppressing Seal] that contained Yazi required all seven pillars to function properly.

Simply reinforcing three of the pillars was not enough to fully seal away this unparalleled beast. The four unrefined pillars were flashing more frequently as Yazi struggled against them, as if they might extinguish at any moment.

“So, what now? Do we have no choice but to prepare to fight this thing? I’ll just say it upfront, I’m a priestess, not someone who charges into battle. I won’t lead the charge unless you beg me…”

“…?”

Ling Feng gave the priestess a strange look, unable to help but shake her head.

“Yazi is the offspring of the [Ancestral Dragon], a ferocious beast second only to a few supreme beings in the [Ancient Spirit Realm]. Even at its peak, the Qilin would not dare claim it could defeat Yazi in a one-on-one fight. It is nearly impossible for us to defeat it head-on.”

“Even if we could, if Yazi breaks the seal, the resulting collapse of this place would trigger a chain reaction that would cause the land to crumble, annihilating thousands of lives in the fall. After that, even if we manage to suppress or defeat it, the situation would be beyond saving.”

“Alright, alright… you don’t need to keep stressing how serious it is.”

Violet nodded, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, before continuing.

“But you all sure are bold, huh? There’s such a terrifying threat lurking below, and yet you’re still building a city above? If I had known, why bother in the first place?”

“That was the decision of our predecessors, and I cannot comment on it. Besides, this [Seven Stars Evil-Subduing Seal] should not have collapsed so quickly. It seems like the forces led by the [Seven Heavenly Demon Lords] have done something to interfere. Now that we’re at this point, we can only rely on…”

“Roar!!!!!!”

Yazi’s sudden violent roar interrupted Ling Feng’s explanation. In that brief moment, it had broken the silver chain wrapped around its horn and opened its massive mouth once more, unleashing dark demonic light toward the hollow ceiling of the palace.

Its fierce will surged, rising into the air.
