I felt he was being naive on that goblin possibly not being aggressive. I think the shock of seeing the human arm is what hurt him in reacting but at least he still reacted fast enough.
Since the goblin was eating a human, does that mean the MC is closer to human settlements?

Specifically the “was the victor in terms of cost” part. I’d love to point out the exact issue, but I honestly can’t even understand what it’s trying to convey.
Otherwise a great translation though.

Of course, someone in a higher position doesn't understand a lower positions circumstance. Summon a middle-aged person with no skills at all is like asking to just die.
