A Girl Who Was Told "You Have No Talent" Turned Out To Be A Talented Monster - Chapter 137.1
Ex-Piece, moving around the Holy City
“So, you know, when you’re in other countries, you don’t see this much faith in the people!” (Temple Guard)
“I can see that.” (Ennely)
On the surface of the Grand Temple, which was open to the public, Ennely was chatting with a temple knight who was stationed there.
Ennely was enjoying a curry-flavored potato skewer made by Litty. The cooking skills Litty showed during her Rank 6 training were still in good shape, and Ennely was using them as a tool for gathering information.
The setting was that she was a merchant and wanted to popularize this new food in this country.
“Are these potatoes from your country? (Temple Guard)
“That’s right… It doesn’t make sense to hurt nature of this country” (Ennely)
(T/N: Ennely is going along with the Mathias belief of being nature conservatives that won’t even want to hurt even plants and would rely mostly on imports because that way they won’t damage nature in their country.)
“In our country, it is also forbidden to eat animal products. You understand that very well.” (Temple Guard)
“I’ve been learning a lot since I came to this country!” (Ennely)
According to the teachings of the Church of St. Mathias, it was forbidden to kill animals. This was because any action that harmed nature or took a life was considered to be an act of punishment against living things.
As a result, there were no restaurants serving meat dishes anywhere in the Holy City. The sound of Myan’s desperate cry still lingered in Ennely’s ears.
Thinking back on it, Ennely felt a deep sense of sympathy for Myan’s plight.
“I think these skewers will sell well. Please let me know when you open your restaurant.” (Temple Guard)
“Thank you! If it’s possible, I’d like the Pope and the Great Holy Mother to try it too…” (Ennely)
“That’s probably difficult. The Pope rarely shows himself, and the Great Holy Mother has been bedridden for a long time now.” (Temple Guard)
“I see… I guess the Pope must be very busy looking after her. But even if he only shows his face for a moment, I would appreciate it if I could quickly offer him something.” (Ennely)
Gradually, Ennely extracted information from casual conversation with many people, especially those working in the temple. Ennely believed that the value of information was determined by the results of accumulation.
Although it was unclear who was allowed to enter the inner sanctum of the Grand Temple, the Pope was definitely one of those people that could enter. Ennely was trying to figure out his behavior patterns and find out a way to interact with him before or after he left the inner sanctum.
What Ennely found unexpectedly reassuring was that this country was not exclusive.
“Everyone in this country is a good person, so it’s a relief. Factia was a terrible country…” (Ennely)
“They even imprisoned the saint for a crime she didn’t commit. I’m sure you had a hard time too.” (Temple Guard)
“If I could see the Pope or the Holy Mother, it would wash away some of my troubles…” (Ennely)
“That’s what I hope too, but the only time I get to see them is when I go to the sanctuary.” (Temple Guard)
Ennely would not hesitate to use deceitful means to obtain information. In her heart, she was sticking out her tongue, saying, “Here it comes”.
***
“That was quite a dance. I liked it.” (Elderly Nun)
“Thank you very much.” (Roma)
Roma was performing a dance at a small church in the Holy City. It wasn’t just any dance, but one that was dedicated to the God Mathias.
One of her goals was to improve her skills, and she was taking advice from the church’s bishop to do so.
More importantly, like Ennely, if she showed her devotion to the Mathias religion, she just might be able to get some information out of them.
“I’d like to show it to everyone tomorrow. Is that okay?” (Roma)
“I’ll recommend you. Someone from outside like you is interested in the Mathias religion…” (Elderly Nun)
The elderly woman, who looked like a nun, was extremely kind, and Roma felt guilty. She couldn’t be as decisive as Ennely.
That’s why she was serious in her dance even if her main purpose was to gather information. She also concluded from her interaction with the bishop that there was nothing wrong with the Mathias religion itself.
“It’s a powerful experience to believe in something… I have a friend who believes in something and shines because of it.” (Roma)
“You’re shining too. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to dance so beautifully.” (Elderly Nun)
“You’re saying such nice things…” (Roma)
