Litty, Understanding The Bandits
Zakir, a former mercenary, was hired and paid handsomely for poking his nose into conflict zones all over the country.
His interventions were unrestrained. He was hired by yesterday’s enemy as an ally, and had no qualms about taking the lives of yesterday’s allies, with whom he shared meals and sleep.
As he fought his way through ungracious battlefields, he made nothing but enemies.
Zakir was a typical example of a mercenary who inevitably fell into banditry.
“Adventurers understand nothing at all. They don’t understand anything about life and death. They are too insensitive.”
“Life is indeed a heavy thing, but we don’t need someone like you to teach us about it.”
“Who the hell are you to stop me?!”
An arrow flew toward Charl. It was a support shot from above the hideout, i.e., from the cliff. However, it did not hit Charl as he stopped it with just a swing of his halberd.
Red Flag already knew that some of Zakir’s subordinates were on the cliff because of Caron’s magic detection, so they were not even surprised by that sudden attack.
The ambush troops fell one by one as they were impaled by Fire Birds, which were shot over the cliff by Caron.
“Tsk! Seriously, you guys…!”
“Well, go ahead and play whatever tricks you want. You can take your time to re-organise your party. However, everything is meaningless against absolute strength!”
“…you sure aren’t like those adventurers.”
Zakir held and brandished his chain sickle. The spinning attack was flexible and could be used at close or medium range.
Litty was still impressed by the way this weapon was used. Although it was not as long-range as a bow and arrow, it had more reach than a spear and could be used in a combined offensive and defensive attack.
Moreover, she was thrilled that the chains could also be used for capturing.
“Tsk!”
“Oops!”
Charl dodged the spinning blade with ease. The power of the blade was enough to scrape the ground.
Zakir himself was aware of this fact, which allowed him to attack aggressively.
But the reality was that Zakir could not even land a single hit on Charl and was even being led around.
“Uwaaah! Za, Zakir…”
Zakir’s Chain Scythe was led by Charl to cut down his minions in his attack range. He took advantage of Zakir’s character of not caring about human life.
“Damn it! Stay out of my way!”
“Gyaaa!”
“Enough! You useless people, die! It’s hard for us to fight when people like you are on the battlefield!”
“Ugh…”
Zakir, desperate, executed his minions in a frenzy. His spinning momentum continued unabated, and he ambushed Charl from a blind spot in an attempt to hunt for his head.
Charl did not try to dodge it, but turned around and extended his Halberd to the chain scythe.
The chain scythe wrapped around Halberd, and Charl’s weapon was now sealed.
“That’s a good call on the spur of the moment, but it’s over!”
This was another classic attack of Chain Scythe. Zakir immediately tried to pull Chain Scythe to snatch the captured weapon.
However, this was only possible when the opponent’s strength was equal or less than his own.
Zakir, impatient at not being able to pull it at all, turned his attention to Charl, who was not even sweating.
“What’s the matter? Didn’t you want to take my weapon from me?”
“Kuh-ohh…!”
“It wasn’t a bad attack, but it leaves you defenseless when it fails. I wish you could have used that scythe better…”
Charl put his hand on the chain wrapped around his Halberd and pulled it by force. In response, Zakir was dragged to Charl’s side.
This was the result of his stubborn refusal to let go of the scythe. Zakir, who was on the ground, finally realized that his life was in danger.
Charl, looking down at him, was smiling, but all he could feel was a killing intent.
“Help!”
Before he could finish, Zakir was kicked in the stomach, and as he floated in the air, Charl followed up with a heel drop. Without giving Zakir time to even writhe in pain, Charl stomped on his head.
