A Girl Who Was Told "You Have No Talent" Turned Out To Be A Talented Monster - Chapter 65.3
“Thanks, girl…”
“Eh, yes?”
“You saved my life…”
“No, no, I don’t mean to.”
On the way, Zakir poked his head out of the water ball and talked to Kuufa. The other members of the group moved on, silently listening to such an exchange, and Litty didn’t stop observing Zakir either.
“Seeing a sweet girl like you reminds me of the daughter I left behind back home…”
“You have a daughter?”
“I became a mercenary, so I could feed her… but then I ended up like this…”
Kuufa listened intently to this story. That he was from a poor village and became a mercenary as a migrant worker.
For someone like Kuufa, who had lived as an orphan without anyone to rely on, it was impossible to trust strangers. However, because Kuufa was not rotten to the core, she was able to empathize with others.
Normally that would not be a bad thing, but on this occasion, Litty thought it was particularly bad.
“If the kingdom were to catch me, I would be put to death… but hey, one last time… one last time… for my daughter…”
“How many children do you have?”
Zakir couldn’t continue to speak at Charl’s abrupt interruption. Kuufa couldn’t grasp Charl’s intentions, but Aquaria was mimicking a yawn.
“Huh, two.”
“How old is the young daughter?”
“Around… around sixteen.”
“How about the older sister?”
“Eighteen…”
“What would they usually talk about?”
“Eh, that, that is…”
Charl moved his face closer to Zakir’s slumbering face. The glare was not just an attempt to detect a lie.
Of all people, it was about daughters. This topic itself would have aroused Charl’s interest. Unless, of course, if it wasn’t a lie.
“If they’re your daughters, they are supposed to have some kind of conversation with you, right? And how does your wife treat you?”
“Well, she’s a gentle wife.”
“You chose to become a mercenary, leaving your wife behind like that? Why didn’t she force you to go back home?”
“Because I don’t have any money…”
“Your daughter is already 19 years old. You and your daughter could have chosen to get a job and work hard with the whole family.”
“Yes, that’s what I’m thinking! That’s why I want to go back home…”
“Your daughter’s age is different from before…!”
“Gufuah!”
With one punch from Charl, Zakir was pushed back into the water ball. His nose was bleeding in the water, but it was quickly washed away, with him being trapped in water.
Charl was impressed by how amazing the confinement was, but that was not the point to focus at the moment. Instead, he slammed his fist into it once more.
“You…if you’re lying, you should at least think about what you’re talking about.”
“Gaboaboabo…”
“Why is it that every random family setup they make up seems the same? And not to mention, having daughters…”
“Charl, can’t we just leave it at that?”
“Don’t stop me, Caron, there’s nothing more important than this.”
Even if that were true, what would it matter? Daido, though silent, thought about it, and the other members agreed with him.
Kuufa, on the other hand, who had been tricked into a lie and was trying to recover her emotions, only blinked repeatedly.
“Kuufa-san, these are people who have killed people without any care. They can lie with a straight face.”
“I, I’m not ready, for something like this… yet.”
“Damn you, you don’t understand the beauty of having daughters!”
Charl shoved Halberd’s hilt into the water ball and poked Zakir in his anger. If it wasn’t for Kuufa and the other two members stopping him, Zakir wouldn’t have stayed alive.
Charl originally planned to get Zakir to give up information about the other bandits. In doing so, they wanted to show Litty and Kuufa how much they could lie with impunity in order to survive.
However, Zakir ended up digging his own grave by spinning lies about having family.
“Daughters can be many things. A younger sister who is very sweet to her excellent older sister…this is also good. Or a sister who feels lonely and jealous of her sister before she marries… that’s also good.”
“Now, you two don’t mind him and let’s get moving.”
At Jennifer’s urging, Litty and Kuufa decided not to bother anymore. Charl was arguing with himself, and no one stopped him.
At this rate, they thought Zakir may die before handing him over to the country, but none of them had the energy to say anything to Charl.
