[Vol. 2] Chapter 26: Indeed, It’s Her
Just as Ifia lay in bed, hugging the blanket and sleeping peacefully, she suddenly felt that something was staring at her. The direct and unapologetic gaze left no room for concealment. Even though she was immersed in a beautiful dream, this kind of scrutiny woke her up.
Late at night, in the girls’ dormitory, being secretly watched… This was like a horror buff stacked to the maximum!
Ifia, now wide awake, lay stiff in bed, afraid to move. The open window let in a breeze, causing the white curtains to flutter, as if someone was hiding behind them.
If this had happened during the day, Ifia wouldn’t have scared herself. It’s just that the impressions from the daytime incident were too deep! Saint Tiffany had earnestly claimed there was a demon, even going so far as to remove the white ribbon covering her eyes, wanting to prove something to her.
Now thinking about it, Ifia felt fortunate. Fortunately, her interference had been timely. Who knows what Saint Tiffany’s eyes would have looked like? Maybe looking into them would have caused nightmares.
According to the common conventions in movies and TV shows, one should never make eye contact with such characters. Otherwise, they might unwittingly get involved in various events.
However, while Ifia managed to stop Saint Tiffany, she couldn’t prevent her own overactive imagination! Ifia silently pondered these thoughts, fear flashing in her dark eyes. Just as she considered whether to cover her head with the blanket to deceive herself, the intense feeling of being watched disappeared, and something leaped onto the bed.
It was very noticeable in the silent night.
Oh no, she thought, she couldn’t let this continue. Ifia wasn’t one to be trifled with either! Unable to deceive herself any longer, Ifia quickly reached for the silver cross placed beside her, deciding to temporarily abandon her belief in science. At this moment, she was a believer in the divine!
“Meow~”
However, immediately following the familiar meow, Ifia’s tense body instantly relaxed. It turned out to be Asmodeus! She was scared out of her wits. She thought it was a demon!
After quickly retracting her internal alarm, Ifia tossed the silver cross aside and sat up, looking at Asmodeus in the moonlight streaming in through the window. As a black cat, Asmodeus was already in a dark state, with only those gleaming eyes visible.
Seeing that Ifia finally spotted it, Asmodeus meowed twice. After that, as if guiding the way, it leaped from the bed to the windowsill, then turned to look at Ifia, meowing again. Confirming that Ifia noticed its presence, Asmodeus jumped directly out of the window.
This prompted Ifia to quickly get out of bed, light the oil lamp, and lift her hands to the windowsill to look outside. She saw Asmodeus gracefully leaping and, in an instant, reaching the ground. At the same time, someone who had been waiting seemed to sense something and looked up.
Illuminated by the oil lamp she held, her features were clearly visible. Her purple eyes shone like stars in the night sky. It was Amelia!
Ifia widened her eyes in surprise, unconsciously tightening her grip on her hands. She hadn’t expected Amelia to appear at this moment. Without thinking, Ifia quickly waved at her, regardless of whether she could be seen or not.
Afterward, wanting to go downstairs immediately, Ifia reached for the doorknob, but just as she was about to open it, she happened to see her reflection in the glass – still in the plain and dull ordinary nightgown with messy hair. Hesitating for a second, Ifia let go of the door, turned around, and quickly changed into her nun’s attire.
She also took a moment to tidy up her hair with a comb. When she was sure she looked perfect, she happily went downstairs to meet Amelia. Although it was a bit late, the nun’s attire finally played its role. With some special thoughts in mind, Ifia moved quickly, feeling like she had almost blinked and arrived downstairs.
“Amelia, why are you here?”
Even though Ifia deliberately dressed herself up, at this moment, she pretended to casually rush downstairs, trying to give off an appearance of ‘she didn’t do anything, just naturally beautiful.’ However, if Ifia could conceal her expression a bit more, perhaps the effect would be even better. Amelia saw through it but didn’t expose it, just lightly chuckled and reached out to hold Ifia’s left hand.
Every time she saw Ifia, it brought her joy. The irritation that had arisen in the hall due to Saint Tiffany’s words magically dissipated at this moment. Ifia seemed like a magical remedy, dispelling all negative emotions.
“Suddenly remembered there are some things to do. Ifia, you look really good in the nun’s attire.”
“Really?” Hearing Amelia’s praise, Ifia felt so proud that she almost wagged her tail. Indeed, she knew she would be praised for wearing the nun’s attire to see Amelia. If the fabric of this nun’s attire were a bit less, Amelia might like it even more!
Thinking inexplicably about some random things, Ifia’s cheeks suddenly flushed. She felt a bit embarrassed looking at Amelia, so she lowered her head and stared at the ground paved with broken stones, revealing a mix of black and dark green colors under the lamplight.
“Ah, pure and dignified like an angel.” When Ifia lowered her head and the word ‘angel’ was mentioned, Amelia’s eyes flickered. The demonic nature of desire always existed towards angels.
Amelia initially thought she wouldn’t be like other demons, but if Ifia turned into an angel, she was sure she would…
Amelia’s purple eyes gradually deepened, but to avoid alarming Ifia, she made an effort to control her emotional fluctuations. She realized that meeting Ifia in the late hours was evidently not a wise decision.
Darkness breeds desire, and evil surfaces. She should leave quickly. The matter of giving Ifia the soul source could wait until they returned to the Pulis Academy, there was no need to rush it now. However, despite her thoughts, Amelia did not act as she intended. Instead, she reached out and lifted Ifia’s chin, making Ifia meet her gaze.
Facing Ifia’s puzzled and confused look, Amelia’s smile carried a seductive implication. “Ifia, what was the request you made earlier?”
“To kiss me…”
Before Ifia could finish her sentence, Amelia lowered her body, drawing near. The distance between them was so close that their breaths were audible.
The uniquely sweet fragrance belonging to Amelia wafted towards Ifia, causing her eyes to involuntarily widen. This made Amelia couldn’t help but chuckle, then she lifted her other hand to cover Ifia’s eyes. Watching Ifia’s defenseless and bewildered expression, Amelia focused on her rosy lips, and her gaze gradually took on a dangerous undertone.
Ifia looked like she could be kissed easily. With that thought in mind, Amelia drew closer. Just before sealing the kiss, the unexpectedly nervous Ifia subconsciously clenched her hands and spoke slightly flustered, “Amelia, what are you doing? Why are you covering my eyes? Quickly let go!”
Ifia’s voice suddenly brought Amelia back to reality. She halted her actions and felt the rapid blinking of Ifia’s eyes beneath her palm, like a startled deer in the jungle trying to escape the hunter’s aim—fragile and delicate.
Amelia smiled, turned her head, and kissed Ifia’s cheek. At the same time, she released the hand that had covered Ifia’s eyes and tightly embraced her.
Next time, she won’t let Ifia go so easily.
