[Vol. 4] Chapter 22: Don’t do this kind of thing!

Ifia concentrated on staring at the pool, having experienced two failed attempts to catch small goldfish before. This time, she decided to imitate Amelia and catch a larger one.

Perhaps, the smaller the goldfish, the more lively it is, and it may break through the paper net.

Contrarily, larger goldfish tend to be more docile, even if they are a bit heavier…

It has to be said that Amelia’s two successes were quite misleading.

At least, she managed to deceive Ifia.

Seeing Ifia aiming for the fattest goldfish in the pool, looking eager to try, although Amelia really wanted to see Ifia’s cute appearance pretending to be a little dog barking, she felt it might lead to embarrassment and anger!

Therefore, before Ifia started, Amelia kindly reminded her, “Ifia, it’s even harder to catch bigger fish, you know.”

“It’s okay, I can do it!”

However, once Ifia became determined, even eight oxen couldn’t pull her back.

The atmosphere became intense.

Ifia raised her hand to comb the black curls scattered in front of her to the back of her ear. Her determined gaze and confident expression filled her cute face. She seemed on the verge of raising her hand to pat her full chest and make another vow.

Unable to persuade her any further, Amelia remained silent, her eyes subtly curved upwards.

In her purple eyes, a hidden amusement awaited the birth of Ifia’s little dog.

The attention-grabbing duo of Ifia and Amelia stood quietly in place, attracting countless glances. Even the nearby couples stopped fishing and curiously gathered to watch up close.

In full view of everyone, Ifia calmly reached out. The paper net, made from thin sheets of paper, was extremely fragile, as if it could be blown away by a gust of wind when held upright.

Therefore, Ifia carefully avoided getting too much water on it, deftly using the iron wire frame at the edge of the paper net to lift the chubby goldfish, catching it in mid-air.

At the moment when the chubby goldfish was caught in the paper net, Ifia was excited and felt like spinning in place.

Hahaha, she…

However, before Ifia could joyfully cheer, an unexpected situation occurred!

Although the paper net had scooped up the chubby goldfish, this fish was not as docile as its counterparts. A seemingly casual struggle resulted in a “plop,” and it fell back into the water.

A cold wind blew by, leaving Ifia staring at the paper net with a large hole, silently speechless.

Darn it, now even fish are looking down on people and playing hard to get???

“Kayke, you’re right. It’s indeed too difficult.”

“Jenny, you finally believe what I said. This paper net must have been made with exceptionally thin paper. This year’s festival event seems tricky, it’s not as easy to win as last year.”

While Ifia stood frozen in place due to her failure, the nearby young couple sympathized with her plight.

Then, continuing to speak, they didn’t forget to console Ifia: “Lovely vampire, you’ve worked hard enough, don’t be discouraged!”

Listening to this, Ifia felt a mix of emotions but reluctantly lifted her spirits, smiling at them without uttering a word.

However, Amelia personally took the stage and achieved complete victory twice! With concrete examples in front of her, it proved that fishing with a paper net was not an impossible task but rather dependent on the individual.

Ifia, on the other hand, wasn’t envious or jealous. Her concern was the fearless oath she had made before. Now was the time to redeem those vows.

To really become a puppy? No way!!!

Ifia tightly gripped the paper net in her hand, sneakily glancing at Amelia. However, as soon as she looked, Amelia caught her. Their eyes met in mid-air, making it impossible for Ifia to pretend it was unintentional.

Her shoulders slumped, Ifia’s eyes drooped slightly, adopting a pitiful appearance. She tossed the paper net into the trash can and swiftly approached Amelia, crashing into her like a staged fall. Ifia raised her hand to tightly embrace Amelia’s slender waist.

Starting to act spoiled, Ifia said, “Amelia, I feel so bad, why can’t I catch any fish? It must be because of bad luck, so can I take back one of the vows, please!”

Her petite body was like a doll, still swaying cutely. Her bright black eyes were astonishing, with a hint of inadvertent coquetry, making Amelia unable to hold back her smile. She raised her hand to embrace Ifia in response.

Well, she already looked like a little puppy seeking attention in front of her owner.

Not wanting to tease the pitiful and cute little one anymore, Amelia said, “Of course you can.”

As the two were accustomed to each other’s intimate contact, they didn’t find anything inappropriate about such closeness. Onlookers, however, the young couple watching, widened their eyes in surprise.

Then, the two subconsciously glanced at each other, each discerning a sense of incredibility from the other’s eyes.

Regarding Amelia Barlen, this influential figure, was probably known to everyone in Pulis Academy. Even if they hadn’t seen the Duke’s daughter herself, her iconic silver hair was a rare color, making her easily recognizable.

The Duke’s daughter had never had any rumors about her relationships, thought to be due to her engagement with the royal family, maintaining an untainted reputation to become the future queen. But now, it seemed that she just hadn’t encountered it before.

While the young couple suppressed their excitement as onlookers, Ifia, in a spoiled manner, retracted one of the vows to become a puppy. What was once discomfort from not catching any fish suddenly vanished. The rain had stopped, the sky had cleared, and Ifia was back in action!

The festival had plenty of fun little games, and they had just played a fishing game. Now, let’s go try some others! However, just as Ifia was about to pull Amelia away, a familiar voice sounded from behind.

“Amelia Barlen?”

Upon hearing this annoying voice, Ifia’s eyebrows involuntarily furrowed, and her cheerful mood immediately soured. Why did the main characters always show up everywhere!

Turning around, Ifia saw Prince Carloy dressed in formal attire this time, and next to him stood Irene, dressed as a princess.

Oh, is this a prince and princess act? Perhaps because Amelia had never worn a white dress before, familiar faces would be surprised to see her.

However, when Prince Carloy’s blue eyes glanced over, Ifia immediately unhappily stood in front of Amelia, as if wishing she could grow to two meters tall and completely block the onlookers’ gazes.

“Prince Carloy, Amelia and I have something to do. We won’t disturb you anymore. I hope you and Irene have a pleasant time.”

Without waiting for Amelia to respond, Ifia directly spoke to decline. She had no intention of getting involved with the main characters in this lively festival!

These somewhat impolite words made the now-aware Prince Carloy furrow his brows slightly, further worsening his impression of Ifia. Amelia Barlen’s character was extremely proud and aloof, but why did she choose such undesirable friends to associate with?

Prince Carloy cast a disdainful glance at Ifia. Normally, he should just wave his sleeve and leave in the face of such impolite behavior.

However, the recent news about the Grant family, a prominent jewelry business family, choosing to support Amelia Barlen, made Prince Carloy even more displeased.

Why did Amelia Barlen always seem to be favored by luck?

Thinking about this, the prince’s initial astonishment completely dissipated, replaced by a spark of anger in his eyes.

Despite his father’s recent warning not to sour relations with the Barlen family at this time, it was the celebration event of Pulis Academy. If he couldn’t win in combat, he could win in a battle of wits!

Even if he couldn’t surpass Amelia Barlen in various games, defeating her in a verbal contest would be a victory!

“Amelia Barlen, would you like to have a little competition?”
