I Want to Fall in Love After Getting Reincarnated as the Heroine on the Verge of a Bad Ending, but My OP Older Brother Won’t Leave Me Alone!? - Chapter 18.2
I felt like I finally understood the meaning behind Julius’ meaningful reaction.
“…. And that’s what happened.”
“Like I care.”
During the lunch break, as Therese had some errands, I ran into Yoshida in the hallway and we had tea together at the cafeteria, where I immediately vented my feelings of despair about the sports festival.
“What events are you participating in, Yoshida?”
“Swordsmanship and the relay race.”
“Eh!? Are you going to be okay?”
“You, what kind of perception do you have of me?”
He replied disdainfully as he sipped from his teacup. Truthfully, I can’t imagine Yoshida holding a sword or running at all.
“Yoshida’s father is the Knight Commander, you know.”
“Huh?”
As I was lost in my thoughts, I heard an additional voice. I immediately looked up and before I knew it, Julius and Arnold-san had somehow come right next to me.
It feels unusual to see these two in the cafeteria.
“There are no other seats available, can we join you?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you.”
As the two of them took seats next to me, I couldn’t hide my surprise at what I had just discovered.
“Yoshida’s father is the Knight Commander…!?”
“Yeah, I’m also aiming to become a knight.”
“Ehhh….”
I had assumed he was a character who aspired to be a civil official or a chancellor. What a surprising gap! Sensing this as an opportunity, I reached out and held Yoshida’s hand, who was sitting across from me.
“Y-Yoshida-sensei! Please teach me swordsmanship!”
“Hah? Why me?”
“Please! It’s okay even if I get beaten up, please, Yoshida…?”
“That’s hard to refuse.”
For some reason, Julius, who was sitting next to me, took off my hand which was holding onto Yoshida’s, but I desperately continued my plea.
When I told him that I had no experience, that if things went on like this, I might end up being shunned even more in class, and that the only person I could rely on was Yoshida, he let out a deep sigh.
“…. My training won’t be easy.”
“I’m okay with that! I have confidence in my perseverance!”
“I guess there’s no helping it. Just this once, okay?”
“T-Thank you…!”
Rather, if I don’t receive strict training, there’s no way I can improve in just one month. I vowed to become his disciple and practice earnestly.
“That’s great. From the second year, you’ll be combining swordsmanship and magic, so it’s not a bad idea to study them now.”
And for some reason, my brother held my hand while saying that. Is it fine for him to be treated as a siscon by others?
“And then, there’s the equestrian event…”
“Rene, are you participating in the obstacle equestrian event?”
As I murmured, Arnold-san, sitting diagonally across from me, tilted his head. He looks as handsome as ever today.
According to what my brother told me, Rene has some experience with horse riding, which made me feel a bit relieved. However, riding a horse while going through obstacles will be a whole different experience, I’m sure.
“Shall I teach you?”
“Huh?”
Amidst everything, Arnold-san suddenly said that.
Julius doesn’t seem to be fond of living creatures, so I probably won’t be able to get any guidance from him.
Since there was no one else to rely on, I decided to take up Arnold-san’s offer and let myself depend on him.
And so, from today on, I began to receive horseback riding lessons from Arnold. Yoshida says he’ll start teaching me swordsmanship tomorrow.
After school, with permission, I came to the academy’s stables along with Arnold. He has been fond of horse riding since childhood and is apparently quite skilled at it. Also, he seems to really love animals.
“First, you need to get along with the horses.”
“I see.”
“They’re cute, aren’t they? Good boy, good boy.”
“Yes, they are.”
But in the end, the first day of training ended with just feeding carrots to the horses, petting them, and talking about how cute they were. Maybe I’m really done for.
Notice:
Hi, everyone! Important notice here, I won’t be updating for a while until I figured out why my chapter release is not updating in Novel Updates. And, if the problem isn’t fixed, I guess I’ll be dropping this novel. I’ll edit my notice in this chapter on whether I’ll continue the novel or not (shouldn’t be too long). Have a good day!
Edit:
Finally, it’s fixed! But I’m swamped with other matters, so I’ll be continuing the updates probably around next week. Have a good day, everyone!
