I Was a Small Fish When I Reincarnated, but It Seems That I Can Become a Dragon, so I Will Do My Best - Extra Chapter 134
5-17. Towards Kilrock Territory
The plan was set.
As soon as Racc heard Ouren’s words, he said something to Ricc and Pacc, then started running through the forest again, with them as his escorts. We’ll have to part ways with these three at some point, but it shouldn’t be a problem.
Racc had listened carefully to the conversation earlier. So he understood very well how urgent the situation was.
Having been raised by humans, he had a decent grasp of human society.
Therefore, he increased his running speed rapidly.
Unlike before, the swaying became more intense, and he growled to convey something to Ouren.
“Seriously! Hey, make sure you all hold on tight!!”
“”Where to hold-!?””
“On Racc’s back!”
As soon as Amariaz and I yelled, Racc’s speed increased even further. The swaying remained the same, but the speed at which trees passed by became unnaturally fast.
He kicked the ground, trampled over tree roots to make them footholds, kicked them off to increase his speed.
Twisting his body to dodge trees while running, sometimes it felt like we might be thrown off, but Ouren’s skill prevented that.
Without us realizing, dirt wrapped around Racc’s body, supporting us. Finally, we were able to grab onto something with our hands, which was a relief. But it was short-lived.
Racc, seeing that everyone had stable support, let out a growl indicating that it was time to get serious, then lowered his head.
I had a strong sense of foreboding, but I couldn’t just suddenly jump off. I closed my eyes tightly, bracing myself, as a shock surged through my body.
“Ugh!?”
As the next moment of impact hit, Amariaz and I were being tossed around, but Ouren and mom seemed fine.
No way…!
And that was the last thought I had before everything went blank.
Another shock followed, and another.
Although we were being shaken violently, Ouren and mom seemed unaffected.
Are they having a casual conversation…!?
◆
We were tossed around at that speed for a while, but finally, Racc slowed down.
However, he showed no signs of being out of breath, he just took a deep breath. Then he lowered his head to the ground, spreading his wings, indicating that it was time to dismount.
Ouren and mom hopped off gracefully, but Amariaz and I managed to touch the ground with trembling legs.
While lying down and feeling grateful for the ground beneath us, we looked up at the sky.
I had no idea how long we’d been tossed around like that. But since the sun hadn’t set yet, we probably hadn’t been on Racc’s back for that long.
But still… I’m exhausted just from this…!
Racc went back to his usual posture and let out a yawn, shaking his head.
He still seemed relaxed. Racc was a flying dragon, not a creature meant to run on the ground, yet he showed no signs of difficulty even in an activity he wasn’t good at.
If we were thrown off at that speed, we could have passed out for real.
I felt grateful deep down that Amariaz and I had voiced our concerns.
It seems they’re willing to help us, although I couldn’t understand their words.
It’s good to have a means of transportation, but the thought of enduring that swaying again made me want to refuse with all my might.
Please, run a bit slower next time…
Before dealing with the angels, we might just get taken out like this.
“Oh…”
“What’s wrong, Amariaz?”
“That.”
While looking sickly, he managed to point to a specific spot.
Following his gaze, I saw a field.
Beyond it was a fence, and I could make out gates.
Despite its name being Kilrock Territory, I had expected it to be somewhat desolate, but it looked like a proper “town.”
Defensive structures, roads, brick and wooden houses.
There were quite a few merchants passing through, and villagers coming and going, surprisingly developed.
It might not be as big as the Oni Village.
But there was no mistaking that this was the place where those angels were.
Quietly, I prepared myself for what lay ahead.
