7-7. Side Story – Dacia’s Report

Dacia swung her longsword to shake off the blood, then slung it over her shoulder with a sigh. How many angels had she slain already? Her clothes were soaked in blood, and even the communication crystal she used to talk to Uchikage was smeared with it. Too exhausted to clean it, she sighed deeply again.

‘…What’s wrong?’

“Try killing countless angels with just two people. You’d sigh like this too.”

‘Wait, angels!?’

‘Yuuzen, quiet down. Dachia, where are you now?’

“Where? Isn’t it obvious?”

Dacia looked around. The area was filled with rubble and bodies, white angel statues, and grand marble columns. The ground was littered with shards of glass, and she picked up one piece.

“The church.”

She gazed at what was once a church and tossed the glass shard. It shattered with a soft clink.

‘A church? So, you found one of their bases?’

“Yeah. It was manageable for us devils, so I didn’t call for backup.”

‘How did you find it?’

“We have a remarkable guy named Iubora.”

“Dacia-sama? I’m not that impressive.”

Iubora replied wearily, staring at a fist-sized stone tablet. He wore large round glasses and a long-collared cloak, complementing his tuxedo-like attire. His appearance had significantly changed from the past. He once favored clothes made from monster leather but now preferred fabric garments. After being promoted from a mid-level to a high-level devil, his powers had greatly improved, leading to his current style.

The stone tablet Iubora held was one of many lying dormant within him. Remarkably, it recorded the understanding of all things. Once just a magical power supply tool, it now played a crucial role in gathering information and uncovering secrets unknown to others, greatly aiding the devils. Iubora’s exceptional abilities made him an indispensable asset.

‘You have good allies.’

“Indeed. Thanks to him, we pinpointed one of the angels’ bases. Angels can’t escape the stone tablet that records the world’s principles.”

‘If only we had known about the angels sooner.’

“At that time, Iubora was still developing. He couldn’t have done this then.”

“You’re overpraising me.”

Seeing Iubora’s genuine discomfort, Dacia chuckled. Enough jokes, she thought, and got to the main point.

“Thanks to Iubora, we found this place. Unfortunately, only weak angels were here.”

‘Not their main base, then.’

“Yeah. We checked what they were doing here, but found nothing.”

‘What do you mean?’

“We observed them for two hours, but they ‘did nothing.'”

‘…What?’

Dacia knew it sounded strange but it was the truth.

She and Iubora had begun their investigation upon arrival. Despite angels being present in the ornate church, they did nothing for two hours—no prayers, no conversations, just standing still.

“Since they weren’t moving, Iubora checked inside, but found no useful information. It was a complete bust.”

‘And the angels?’

“We dealt with them all. Iubora demolished the church, crushing half of them with the debris.”

“It was a hassle from there. They all had pseudo-skills, making them tough to handle. We could have used another pair of hands.”

“You’re right about that.”

‘And their purpose remains unknown.’

“That’s given”

Iubora nodded in agreement. Investigating the church yielded no clues about the angels. It seemed like a storage place for weak angels with pseudo-skills.

“And, if I told you this place is underwater, would you believe it, Uchikage?”

“No way. Uchikage, do you believe it?”

‘…Are you two alright?’

“You figured it out already.”
