Chapter 233: Nuo’er Became a Little Dragon Knight
It was estimated that considering the uproar caused by those muscular uncles, and with the cafe being inspected for hygiene and fire safety, various rumors inevitably spread online.
Ouyang Xue directly suspended the operation of the cafe in the afternoon and evening. While official personnel who came to inspect acknowledged that the cafe’s hygiene and fire safety were fine, externally, it was announced that they would be closed for a whole day for self-inspection.
Around five or six in the evening, the “Muscular Uncles targeting the cafe” incident from the afternoon began to ferment on the internet as expected —
?It’s really scary, are even restaurants being targeted now??
?The main issue is that this Shangjing Cat Maid Cafe spans too many fields, it’s a restaurant, a bubble tea shop, a cat cafe, a 24-hour convenience store, and it even incorporates anime culture. And they’re doing well in every field. I wonder which industry’s people are targeting them.?
?Indeed, if I were a nearby restaurant owner, I’d be envious. The bubble tea here sells for less than ten yuan a cup, and you can even watch performances of busty lolitas.?
?Do you think… there might be ulterior motives? I remember the waters in Nanqi District, Shenzhen City are quite deep. Isn’t targeting them so blatantly without reason just jealousy among peers??
Although the cafe only operated until five or six in the evening, Ouyang Xue and Li Chen spent several hours cleaning the inside and outside of the house thoroughly, including checking all the water and electricity, to ensure there were no problems.
After closing the door and hanging the “Closed for Business” sign, there were still thousands of people chatting in the Tongmeng live broadcast room using barrage.
After all, even without surveillance cameras, the cafe wasn’t boring. Watching over sixty cats chase each other, groom each other, use the litter box, and sleep or run on the wheel was quite cute. If people had nothing else to do, they would still visit the live broadcast room to watch the cats and send barrage messages.
?Isn’t their cat cafe in conflict with the cat-loving community??
?No, but the main concern now is the possibility of troublemakers throwing sick or stray cats in front of their café. With cameras around, if you rescue them, it could cost thousands or even tens of thousands of yuan. If you don’t, you’ll be labeled as heartless.?
?Actually, the cafe is quite smart. There are surveillance cameras outside the door, so anyone who tries to dump cats here will be watched by bystanders. Plus, this place is quite remote, and so far, no one has chosen to dump cats here.?
?Yeah, it’s tough for the pet hospital in my area. My classmate works there as a doctor. He often complains to me about people throwing sick cats in front of their hospital. Rescuing them costs thousands of yuan, and not rescuing them makes it hard to watch the cats die. What’s more infuriating is that after they’re treated, the owners of the cats show up claiming their cats went missing and demand to take them back.?
?Sigh, I hope the cafe can reopen normally tomorrow afternoon. I wanted to go there for dinner and meet the new Fei Luo maid. Her chest is so exaggerated. It’s my first time seeing a so-called giant chest loli in real life.?
?……?
Meanwhile, my new Yuri novel in “Yae-Honeydew,” has entered the stage of “rising popularity,” and the heat in the comments section quickly increased.
?Why does this book feel so genuine, like an autobiography??
>>>?Reply from Chameleon (Author): It’s definitely not an autobiography! I’m a genuine uncle. This is a transformation novel. How could transformation exist in real life??
?I seriously suspect this book is a diary. It’s just too similar to reality.?
>>>?Reply from Chameleon (Author): It’s not a diary! It’s a fantasy world, and the protagonist is a loli. How could it be a diary? It’s a novel, a novel!?
?The author is a loli.?
>>>?Reply from Chameleon (Author): The author is an uncle, a macho uncle! Please don’t harbor any unrealistic fantasies!?
“……”
According to the requirements of editor Catnip, I can say that I’ve gone “all out” on the new book. The updating speed is even faster than when I was writing my old book by myself, and the quantity has increased two or threefold.
Anyway, for some reason, maybe because the protagonist has changed to a female, I always feel very comfortable writing this new book. Plus, since most of the plot doesn’t need much consideration and can be directly copied from reality, after outlining, I didn’t even bother with detailed outlines. Every day, I just open my computer and get to work.
Normally, an experienced author would first outline the overall structure of a book. Leaving aside other considerations, at least the outline for the initial one, two, or three volumes needs to be well thought out. For example, what events happen at the beginning, what the protagonist’s goals are, and what plot or conflicts drive the main storyline forward.
If it’s a slice-of-life novel, this outline can be somewhat simplified, but generally, it should be around one or two thousand words.
Then comes character design, including appearance, height, personality, preferences, etc. Once the characters are designed, you can start writing the first chapter, revising and editing until you’re satisfied. After that, you can follow the outline to write detailed outlines for the rest.
If the outline is like the trunk of a tree, the detailed outline is like the branches and leaves that sprout from it. The final chapters are like the leaves or flowers.
Rabbit mentioned the importance of “detailed outlines” in the files he sent me. This is to prevent authors from getting stuck while writing. For example, if your outline says that the protagonist will meet a “Miss Grim Reaper” in the first volume, and they will go from being noisy enemies to good friends, the detailed outline should specify what happens in each chapter, who the protagonist encounters, and what events occur. This way, when you sit down at the computer, you’ll know exactly what to write. Just check the detailed outline — Oh, for this chapter, I only need to write about these few things.
When I started this new Yuri novel, I only wrote some outlines. Detailed outlines hardly needed to be written because most of it was based on things that happened between me and Xiao Mo. A little modification here and there to let the protagonist in the book experience it again was sufficient.
This also saved me the time I used to spend every day refining outlines, detailed outlines, or even character details. After all, even for some of the people around the protagonist in the book, there are certain “prototypes” on my end. I don’t need to set them up. When writing, I just need to think for a moment, “What would she do if it were her?” and the character’s image comes to mind.
In other words, my typing speed now can be faster than my previous self, but only for this new book.
?Nuo’er, your voice acting is good, very emotional?
Besides novels, the Editor Catnip also highly praised the voice acting I did for “Honey girl” in Yae-Honeydew and sent me the address of the promotional video, promptly sending over the “fee.”
?Have you considered becoming a voice actor? Or even becoming an idol and doing live broadcasts? You already have many fans online, so broadcasting is sure to be popular.?
Regarding the editor’s suggestion, I just blandly said “I’ll consider it.”
I’m not the kind of person with a lot of “ambition,” nor do I enjoy the “ups and downs” of life very much.
My current job… being a maid at the cafe has actually fulfilled countless fantasies I’ve had before: an eight-hour workday, eight days off a month, enough personal time every day, enough holidays every month, a salary that meets daily expenses and hobbies. That’s already enough for me.
Especially this last point, where my salary can meet my daily expenses and hobbies. My daily expenses basically include rent, utilities, and food. If rent and utilities total around 1,000 yuan, even if I have three meals a day with three dishes and a soup each, it won’t exceed 2,000 yuan. So, giving myself 3,000 yuan a month would be more than enough for my “daily expenses,” leaving only for “hobbies.”
I don’t have any particularly expensive hobbies, so in Shenzhen City, I feel that a salary of around 5,000 yuan would be perfect for me. Being a maid at the cafe already exceeds 10,000 yuan, so I don’t feel the need to “make big money” anymore.
Catnip and Ai Luodi also mentioned that when I wrote some male-oriented hot-blooded king characters, the biggest fatal flaw was “lack of ambition” or “a different mindset from ordinary men.”
In simple terms, my “worldview” didn’t quite align with the current mainstream. It was like back in college when guys in the dorm would occasionally boast about how many women they’d been with or how many girlfriends they’d had. They saw it as “a man’s honor,” boasting about how many conquests they’d had, feeling like they’d conquered them. Personally, I didn’t feel much about such things. I always felt that the relationship between men and women should… not be like that. There’s no conquering or being conquered, men and women should be equal in both sex and love.
It was these kinds of “ideals.” Other authors wrote male protagonists with vigorous ambitions, constantly striving to improve themselves, seizing opportunities when they saw them, and doing whatever it took to get what they wanted, stepping over anyone in their way. While my male protagonists might have had similar plotlines, the way I wrote them didn’t give off that vibe.
The male protagonists in those successful male-oriented novels were portrayed very successfully as “mature men.” On the contrary, my protagonist seemed more like someone being pushed by the author to “become stronger,” and he himself didn’t seem to have that much charm. Perhaps it was precisely because of this difference in worldview and understanding that I found it easier to write novels from the female protagonist’s perspective than male-oriented ones. In reality, I also didn’t like to get involved in things that seemed very troublesome.
For example, the debut as an idol mentioned by the Editor Catnip. With my current appearance, physique, and even voice, whether it’s a virtual idol or a real one, if I were to seriously pursue this path, I would indeed have a great chance of succeeding. I could potentially earn tens of thousands of yuan in a day through donations, let alone a monthly income of ten thousand. But that doesn’t seem like the life I want.
Moreover, if I were to become popular in this way, I might lose all the peace in my life and could get caught up in one media storm after another. Therefore, for the sake of a peaceful life and for someone who has always loved me unwaveringly, I feel it’s better to remain ordinary.
Going to work at the cafe every day, coming back home to goof around with my partner, stargazing, counting the moons, spending weekends together at the seaside, hiking, watching movies – having some time alone together is quite nice.
As for my voice, since everyone said it was cute, I occasionally provided voiceovers for Honeydew and helped Ouyang Xue if she needed someone to read a few lines. But as for pursuing a career as a voice actor or an idol, I’ll pass. Similarly, everyone thinks “Yin Nuo’er” is cute, so I can take photos with customers at the cafe and occasionally post some daily life photos with Xiao Mo on my personal account on Tongmeng Net, maybe even post a few daily videos to indulge in a bit of vanity. But as for debuting as an idol, let’s leave that out of the equation.
“I’m going out to investigate those people today.”
The cafe was closed, and for the first time ever, Ai Luodi, who usually works the evening shift, joined us for “breakfast.” After the meal, in the air-conditioned small room, Yin Xiamo changed into that classic “Grim Reaper” outfit – a black windbreaker with an attached hood, classic black thigh-high stockings, and a pair of small gray boots.
Seeing her dressed like this, my first reaction was to compare her to the main character, Gray, from “The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II.” If only Xiao Mo could carry a lantern with one hand, she’d be even more alike.
“When will you be back?”
Seeing Xiao Mo planning to climb out directly from the small balcony on this side of the room, I felt a bit worried. “Will an hour be enough?”
“Hmm?”
She seemed somewhat surprised by my question. Xiao Mo glanced at me, then at Fei Luo, who was completely absorbed in watching short videos on her phone. “Do you have plans for tonight?”
“Well, sort of.”
I felt a bit embarrassed. “I’ve finished most of my work for today and was thinking of going out with you…”
The girl in front of me cut off my words. “To watch a movie?”
“Huh?”
I was surprised. “How did you know?”
“Ouyang Xue told me.”
Yin Xiamo shrugged, “Saying there’s a little silly who’d rather not have two boxes of crispy sharks but would ask her for nearby movie theater tickets.”
“Well, that’s different…”
I instinctively countered, “How much is a box of crispy sharks? Even if it’s two boxes, it’s still not worth the movie tickets!”
“That’s because you’re silly and don’t know how to ask.”
Yin Xiamo chuckled, “I looked it up online. Milk white chocolate flavored, big box of crispy sharks, the 40-piece kind, one box costs 50 yuan, so two boxes are 100 yuan. The movie industry is in a slump now. When you ask Ouyang Xue for two movie tickets, she’s still going to find them through acquaintances. I estimate one ticket is around 20-30 yuan…”
“Alright, alright!”
I impatiently interrupted her, “Just tell me when you can come back.”
Why did Xiao Mo look up the price of crispy sharks online?
“If Nuo’er wishes, I can come back within an hour.”
Under my gaze, Yin Xiamo took out her phone and checked the time on it, “It’s now 6:40. I can be back before 8.”
“Okay, just make sure you…”
I was about to say “be careful,” but then I remembered that Xiao Mo herself is a representation of death in this world and wouldn’t have any safety issues, so I changed my wording, “make sure to come back on time.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be investigating those big guys’ backgrounds in the city, and I’ll also get the information on the people behind them. There won’t be any signal issues this time. If I’m not on time, just call my phone.”
With that, Yin Xiamo even gestured towards my thigh, “It’s almost time, Nuo’er, don’t forget to change your underwear.”
“You…”
I grabbed a pillow in frustration and threw it at her, “Go to hell!”
“Hehe…”
With a light leap, tracing an elegant arc in the night sky, Yin Xiamo disappeared outside the window.
“Seriously, who’s the one causing me to carry these damn things every month?”
Back at the bed, I grabbed my bunny backpack and pulled out a packet of sanitary pads.
“Did she leave?”
My movement caught Fei Luo’s attention on the bed. She shifted her gaze from her phone screen back to me, curiously looking outside, “It’s strange. Despite being a yandere for you, her clone can still resist the urge to stick around and instead go out to investigate.”
“I’m not the type who’d drop dead if we’re separated by a few hundred meters. It’s not like Xiao Mo has to cling to me all the time, and where did you learn the term “yandere”?”
I changed my pants in the bathroom, “Besides, she’s gone out to investigate things like this before.”
“Let me guess… those things are all related to you?”
“Sort of.”
“Well, no wonder then.”
Fei Luo continued lying on the small bed, “Those big guys today came aggressively. It’s obvious they have someone backing them up. Given Xiao Mo’s personality, not immediately chopping them down on the spot is already giving Nuo’er face.”
“Killing outside the cafe is definitely not an option.”
“So she just symbolically took away 20 years of lifespan. Didn’t you see Nuo’er’s expression at that time? She was restraining herself.”
Fei Luo lowered her voice, “Right now, she’s probably gone directly to find the bosses and powers behind those guys.”
“Are you sure everything will be okay?”
“Well, based on my experience wandering around the city these past few days, there shouldn’t be any problem. In a world without magic, everything can be solved casually. At most…”
I turned my head, “At most what?”
“If only there was a simple solution like dealing with idiots on our side when we first arrived here. Starting a fight when there’s enmity,” Fei Luo explained while scrolling through videos.
“Here, trying to solve problems without killing is quite troublesome… Xiao Mo should be using her own methods to deal with those people. At least, Xiao Mo needs to ensure that those people’s target isn’t you, Nuo’er, otherwise…”
At this point, Fei Luo made a neck-slitting gesture, “If those people really had their sights on you, it would probably end in a gruesome death. Xiao Mo herself actually has no qualms. She’s mainly considering you.”
Hmm… I’ve thought about this too. On Earth, Xiao Mo essentially has absolute power, it’s basically “do whatever she wants.” The reason she came here and endured the hardships of working and earning money with me, living an ordinary life like everyone else, is entirely because she thought I might not be comfortable with her habits.
Otherwise, as a god here, Xiao Mo probably wouldn’t care about laws or killing people. Anyone standing in her way would just be eliminated. After all, in this world, nothing can stop her. She doesn’t need to adhere to those rules and regulations.
“Of course, those people wouldn’t target you either.”
Maybe after watching the video, Fei Luo handed the phone back to me, saying, “Considering Xiao Mo’s personality, she wouldn’t let anyone with such audacity to target you live until now. Those few people today and their backers are probably targeting the cafe.”
Taking the phone, I joked, “Fei Luo, you’ve only been on Earth for a few days, yet you seem to understand the rules here quite well.”
“Of course, who do you think I am? I’m the Great Divine Dragon who survived from the War of the Demon King until now. Without a bit of intelligence, I wouldn’t even know how many times I’ve died.”
Fei Luo patted her chest, causing the two mounds of flesh to jiggle several times.
“Not just humans, but anywhere with civilization and desires, the rules of survival are almost the same. Even in our realm, the only race that never causes trouble and has no schemes are the elves, but they’ve always lived miserably, manipulated by humans and demons.”
For some reason, I suddenly remembered the “Elven Queen” that Xiao Mo mentioned before. “Speaking of which, the hero… is he also on good terms with the elves?”
“Yes, they have a very good relationship.” The girl on the bed nodded.
“And that Elven Queen has been on good terms with Gabriel for thousands of years. If Gabriel comes over here, the elves will definitely notice something unusual within a few months.”
“So…” I didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
“Are you saying that Elven Queen will also come over?”
“Not just the queen,” Fei Luo said seriously.
“The elves are a relatively united race. If their queen really comes over here, there will definitely be many elves coming over too.”
“What should we do?” I gestured to the room behind me.
“We can’t accommodate so many people here…”
“Do you think Xiao Mo bought that island for no reason?”
Fei Luo smiled. “The elves don’t really like human cities. If they do come over, that island is enough for them to live on. Then it depends on whether that lady queen will return. If she doesn’t, Xiao Mo just needs to provide some basic necessities and crop seeds, and the elf family problem will be solved.”
“By the way, I always feel like Xiao Mo might be planning something.” Then, Fei Luo leaned close to my ear. “Do you have any clues, Nuo’er?”
“None.” I shook my head as if I were shaking off water.
“During these days living with you guys, I feel like I’m getting dumber.”
“Hahaha, that’s exactly what Momo wants. She wants you to live in the paradise she created, where you don’t have to worry about anything and just enjoy yourself.”
Fei Luo walked towards the windowsill where Xiao Mo had left earlier. I noticed two slits in the back of her clothes, seemingly cut open with scissors.
“Do you want to go out for a walk?”
“Huh?”
I was surprised by the sudden proposal from this black dragon girl.
“Now?”
“Yeah.” In a burst of golden light, a pair of huge dragon wings sprouted from Fei Luo’s back, filling the already small room space.
“I’ll look… Ah, here it is. I found this in a toy store last night.”
Feeling around in her pocket, Fei Luo pulled out something that looked like a temporary tattoo sticker and approached me. “Come on, Nuo’er, close your eyes.”
“Why… Why do I have to?”
Although feeling a bit strange, I reflexively closed my eyes.
Then, I felt something like adhesive tape being stuck over my entire eyes. Fei Luo seemed to reach out and press the two tapes around the edges of my eyes.
“Okay.”
Then, with a tearing sound, Fei Luo pulled the adhesive tapes off my eyes.
“What is this?”
Opening my eyes again, I looked around and walked to the floor-length mirror in the room.
The little girl in the mirror now had a rather lively eye shadow.
The eyelashes, already resembling butterfly wings, were now covered in a golden hue. There were also some triangular decorations added to the corners of my eyes, giving me an extra touch of mischief and rebellion.
“What is this?”
I surveyed the uniquely styled reflection in the mirror and remarked, “Why do I feel like one of those… rebellious kids?”
“I was chatting with the owner of a special toy store in the city center, and she gave it to me. Looks pretty, right?” Fei Luo pointed to her own eyes.
“I’ve been using these for the past few days and then playing all night before coming back. They’re easy to wash off—just rinse with water a few times. If that doesn’t work, we can ask Mo to use magic to clean it off for you.”
“But…”
I was still somewhat puzzled. “Why do I have to do this…”
Before I could finish my sentence, Fei Luo picked me up in her arms, tossing me into the air as if I were a little kitten. Then, with a spin, she presented her back to me, allowing me to land smoothly on her shoulders with a “thud.”
A golden light emerged as two black dragon horns appeared on Fei Luo’s head.
“Nuo’er, catch!”
At Fei Luo’s gesture, I instinctively reached out and grabbed hold of these two icy-cold dragon horns.
“Momo has told me your story, Nuo’er… you’re just too obedient. Sometimes you need to let loose a little.” Carrying me on her back, Fei Luo jumped back onto the windowsill.
“Alright, now that Nuo’er with the tattoos is also a naughty kid, and the girl who has tamed the evil black dragon, let’s go!”
“Eh, eh, eh?” My brain felt like it was in chaos.
“Wait, I haven’t turned on my computer yet… Oh no!”
With a strong sense of weightlessness, Fei Luo and I jumped from the top floor of this old building complex, followed by a sudden flap of dragon wings!
“Hoo, hoo, hoo…”
I wasn’t sure if it was magical assistance, but even though the airflow from those dragon wings didn’t seem strong enough to lift two people, Fei Luo and I suddenly soared upward in the intense wind pressure, flying towards the stars above.
The night sky tonight was exceptionally clear, with a bright full moon visible.
“Even the former heroes couldn’t control me like this!”
Beneath the moonlight, Fei Luo exclaimed with excitement, then turned her head and flew towards the central district.
“He was too heavy and died too quickly. Besides, it’s just too terrible for a grown man to ride on a girl’s back. Only Nuo’er, who has inherited the spirit of the hero, can fulfill this long-cherished wish!”
“What kind of wish is that!”
I was anxious on Fei Luo’s shoulder. “We’ll be discovered like this!”
“We won’t be discovered. As long as we fly higher, way up high, and overlook the city, no one will notice us!”
Fei Luo beneath me shook her head. “People in this world have a flaw—they rarely look up.”
“But what if we’re really discovered!”
“I’ve got the scouting magic on, don’t worry!”
Fei Luo flapped her wings again several times, lifting me higher into the sky. “Here, Nuo’er, you’re holding the steering wheel now… You guys call this thing over here, something you find inside cars. You grab onto my horns, think of where you want to go, and we’ll go there together! Or we can go find Xiao Mo! You’re a dragon rider now!”
I was swept up in the moment and shouted in the roaring wind, “Did Xiao Mo tell you to do this?”
“How could she! I just saw how obedient you were, so obedient it’s heartwrenching. I wanted you to come out and clear your mind, forget about those uncles’ business, leave all your worries behind. Come on!”
“……”
I fell silent for a moment, taking a deep breath on Fei Luo’s shoulder.
Then, I let go of her hands and grabbed onto her two black dragon horns again.
“My loyal dragon, head towards Wanghai Road No. 3 in the Nanqi District, Wanghai Park, let’s go!”
“……”
