I Will Never Submit to Miss Grim Reaper - Chapter 462
Chapter 462: Law is Not a Constraint
Considering that Ouyang Xue and Li Chen would take a while to arrive, and that most of the people in the cafe were “politicians” of the same level as Ye Yuqing, whose conversations were full of implied meanings, I felt out of place and decided to head to the kitchen. I gathered the ingredients for a day’s worth of sticky rice.
The cafe’s “Seven-Color Sticky Rice” has become famous not only in Shenzhen City but nationwide. In the past couple of weeks, many people have come just to try this free sticky rice that I personally make.
Since everyone has seen white sticky rice, my “Seven-Color Sticky Rice” can actually be considered “Eight-Color Sticky Rice” because I don’t include the white rice in the mix.
Instead, I set it aside and pair it with mung bean puree and sausage, creating a classic Shenzhen City breakfast dish called “Sticky Rice and Sausage.”
Making Sticky Rice and Sausage is even simpler than Seven-Color Sticky Rice. The sticky rice doesn’t need to be dyed, and the mung bean part involves directly grinding the mung beans into powder, steaming them, then mashing them into a consistency similar to flour mixed with water.
This dish is also free. It’s placed right by the kitchen door with disposable gloves available. Customers passing by can grab a plate, first put a layer of warm sticky rice, then spread a layer of mung bean puree on top, and finally add a sausage. Roll it up, and you have a Shenzhen City specialty similar to a “hot dog.”
Because of the “Seven-Color Sticky Rice” and “Sticky Rice and Mung Bean Sausage” as well as the free drinks, the cafe has been dubbed a “charity organization” by locals. Breakfast here truly doesn’t cost a penny, and if you’re thick-skinned enough, you could even cover all three meals a day.
If it weren’t for the cafe’s very remote location and the lack of similar breakfast shops nearby, we would probably receive a ton of complaint calls every day.
?Feels like Nuo’er is becoming the little cook around here.?
?I don’t know why, but whenever I think about Nuo’er making this sticky rice, it always tastes especially sweet to me.?
?Maybe you’re eating the version with added sugar? They have that sticky kind with sugar over there.?
?No, it’s just the regular version. I really like the black sticky rice made with maple leaves. It has a kind of herbal taste. Every time I see Nuo’er’s little white hands turning black from it, it makes me laugh.?
“The color from the maple leaves washes off easily…”
Hearing the comments through my earphones, I couldn’t help but respond, “And please, don’t say weird things like that in front of me! Can’t you watch something else? There are so many cameras! Look at the mayor, or at Miss Zhao you were just talking about!”
?The mayor isn’t as interesting as Nuo’er.?
?Nuo’er, I suggest installing a camera in the new garden area too. Otherwise, once it opens, people might steal the fruits.?
?And the coconut trees too. It’s best not to say they’re part of the cafe project. Otherwise, if someone climbs up and gets hurt, they’ll definitely blame you.?
“Okay, thanks for the suggestions. We’ve already arranged something for the little garden outside a long time ago.”
After finishing with the last of the sticky rice and mung beans, I carried the large basin to the kitchen, put the sticky rice into the steamer, and lit the fire.
“Chef Wang, when the rice is ready, just take it outside.”
“Got it, got it.”
A very busy Chef Wang curiously asked, “Whose wedding is it this time? Why are there so many people? It’s like a battlefield out there.”
“Ouyang Xue.”
“What?”
“Sister Ouyang!”
I replied irritably, “Ouyang Xue and Li Chen! You knew that!”
“Oh, I thought it was some big city leader.”
Chef Wang laughed, “Look outside, there are mayors and chief prosecutors. I never knew Ouyang had such connections.”
This might not be just about Ouyang’s connections. It’s probably because of “Yin Xiamo’s” influence?
Xiao Mo previously bought an island from Mayor Ye. I’m not sure about the details of their transaction, but one thing is certain: to Ye Yuqing, Xiao Mo is already a significant “big shot.”
So for a wedding like today’s, people from Ye Yuqing’s and Su Yunjin’s circles are bound to attend. With so many officials, the wedding becomes quite a spectacle.
“Anyway, just keep busy today. There will be even more people in the afternoon, so it’ll get even busier.”
I turned and left the kitchen, “I won’t disturb you any longer, I’ll handle things outside.”
Then, I pulled over my earphones and said to the viewers in the livestream, “If you have time, come and support us. If not, check out the other surveillance cameras. I need to leave for a while.”
?Where is little Nuo’er going??
“I’m going to have fun with Xiao Mo……”
“……in another world.”
With that last explanation, I took off my earphones and ran out of the cafe.
Xiao Mo was already waiting outside. Seeing me come out, she stepped forward to help tidy my slightly messy hair. “All done?”
“Yeah, the sticky rice and drinks should be enough to last until the afternoon. Gwen and Vivi are also there, so they can handle anything that comes up.”
As Xiao Mo and I walked down the path outside, I asked nervously, “Is it really okay for us to leave during someone else’s busy wedding and run off to Grandis?”
Xiao Mo looked at me like a little kitten. “So you want to stay and discuss politics with Su Yunjin and Ye Yuqing?”
“No way. I get a headache just thinking about the politics in our group. One day, the group might even disappear.”
I smiled wryly, “I’d rather they share cute pictures.”
“I don’t like political discussions either.”
Xiao Mo shrugged, “When Diwutith was first established, some of our initial laws were directly copied from other countries’ laws. It took a few hundred years to gradually improve them.”
“Huh?” I was a bit surprised. “Wouldn’t directly copying laws cause big problems?”
“Let’s just say there were very few bad people in Diwutith at the beginning, or maybe the people who were willing to follow me back then were mostly good-hearted,” Xiao Mo mused. “Laws are meant to regulate individuals and society, and to promote national peace, right?”
Diwutith really is a magical country…
“I think it also had to do with my selection process. When Diwutith was just established, the citizens were mainly the warriors who fought alongside me, just a few tens of thousands. Over the next few hundred years, it gradually developed into what it is today.”
Xiao Mo explained. “It’s similar to how humans on Earth select cats. Most pet cats today, like Ragdolls, are naturally close to humans. It’s probably something ingrained in their genes. My former people were mostly friendly, and their descendants are the same. So the loopholes in the initial laws didn’t cause any major problems.”
After saying this, Xiao Mo took my hand.
“Let’s not talk about this anymore. When we get to Diwutith, I’ll show you our festivals. Maybe we can even buy some festival items to bring back.”
“……”
